Fujifilm 4700 Zoom - A 2.4mb 'Super' CCD Sensor Camera from the Year 2000

I take a look at this old CCD sensor camera; can a 2.4mb CCD sensor camera from the year 2000 deliver decent looking images today? Filmed over a period of about 8 months.

@@ChrisEdgecombePhoto one of my friends has an old Olympus E300 (I think that is the model anyway) the same thing CCD sensor and the most beautiful rendering of colours straight out of camera. I think the camera has died now unfortunately.

@@Spencer_White I'm currently using a Nikon D200 as well which uses a CCD sensor. I did consider the old Olympus CCD sensor cameras as I have some 4/3 glass but the D200 won out at the moment.

@@ChrisEdgecombePhoto fab, an old work colleague had a D200 when I first started getting into photography that he recommended, rather silly I should have bought it off him really. He showed me some images he took with it too and I remember thinking they were very good.

Such beautiful images produced by the 4700 zoom but not the most practical of cameras as you pointed out. It would be a fun camera to have for occasional use for sure! 💚

I have a Fujifilm 6800z from 2001 Think the pics look good especially for such an old digital camera

You should get photos with horizontal lines soon enough, replacing that purple blown out photos at 5:56. I've got a 6800 that needs to be pressed at a certain spot for the LCD to display the live view, I think now this is due to the lead free solder acting up.

Yeah, I don't envisage using this camera much more, I'm going to compare it to a Kodak DX3700 at some point and then I suspect it will just sit on my shelf as it does hold some sentimental value in keeping it.

I think I'm done with old cameras especially ones with old storage types, probably cost me more to get a smart media card and reader (and FD reader) than the camera is worth 🤣. Glad you liked it.

I had one, liked it, developed intermittent lockup. Lens would not protrude..., was great while it lasted

There isn't really many settings to change TBH, I think I left it at its defaults. Mine as evidenced in this video is a little temperamental as well. Good luck with yours.

Just found one on a flea market for €5, with dents and scratches, but still works perfectly. The interpolated 4.3MP pictures are pretty good for a 2.4MP sensor, but I wish it could save them in 2.4MP format. Colors are nice. Pretty much no jpeg artifacts in "fine" mode, but I do notice some (noise) pattern, probably added by upscaling to a 4.3MP picture. Auto mode only seems to shoot in ISO 200, so a lot of light is needed (ISO 400 and 800 only available in manual mode and not that great). All in all a fun point & shoot camera.

You should think about making a few videos in asmr style found it sort of relaxing just listening to you talk then the music with the photos. You might have something here in that style.

I had 2 of these. Fuji made a leica version of this model. The 4700z was $1000 in 2000. They are battery eaters. You get maybe 50 shots and its over. I gave mine to onemonthtwocameras.

TBH, 50 shots is more than good enough for my uses with this thing and still far more than I managed from the Kodak DX3700....
