Talented as ever ;) Another good tip, even when recording high quality audio separately on my Zoom recorder, I still record the same audio with my built in camera mic, as I can use it as a way or synchronizing (timing) my better quality audio when I import it in post. Nothing worse than lips moving out of time with the sound..

🔴 For those who are trying to connect the Deity V-Mic D3 Pro on the Fuji XT4 and the mic is showing the orange light (stand by mode) the solution is that you have to use a TRS cable instead of a TRRS (the one that comes with the mic). Hope this helps! Thanks for the video pal, even after 3 years it's very helpful!

Hi! So I’m terms of the limiter I never used to use it for postproduction. But recently I have been using the xt-3 and xt-4 for zoom and FaceTime and I use the audio limiter to allow the mic to pic up the audio levels clear and the other end without clipping. It really works! Without the audio limiter I found that I would be too low for the video calls .

@@andrewraskin3713 hey fellow Andrew! Great question. I use a usb hdmi capture device. Settings wise I have the output to 1080p (because the capture the device can’t accept 4K even though It says it can) I use to try the usb route but it was not as easy as this.

Great video...as usual. For mics, I have really been impressed with the Azden SMX-30, both it's features and how well it handled challenging situations during a week in Italy (back when we could travel) . Take a look at it...

A bit late to these comments, but I second this recommendation for the Azden SMX-30. It records both stereo and mono so it’s useful for a variety of situations at a similar price to options from Rode.

@@akadno On an open boat going down the Amalfi coast, this mic easily picked up our tour guide's lecture from about 15 feet (~4.5 meters) away...the wind sick was on the mic of course. I love how good this mic is, with both stereo or mono at the flip of a switch, PLUS the switch for on/off OR only on when the camera is on(the setting I use). Plus AA batteries can be found everywhere.

@@pal2tech for me I cannot activate the notification bell because it says that your channel is targeted as children safe content. Maybe you may double-check your settings on the youtube studio to make sure it is toggled to normal content because children's content cannot receive notifications.

Can I run line level into the X-T3 mic input and just turn the gain way down, or are the levels so different that it would damage the circuitry?

Thank you so much. Wireless mics are great, especially if you use some of the better brands such as RODE Wireless Go, etc. However, my all time favorite is a semi-wireless (it records at the location of the talent) mic called the tentacle sync. Hope this helps!

If someone is doing video outdoors, I think the Rode Micro mic is as good as the larger Rode Mic (I have both). I haven't tested the wind protection (deadcat), but I've seen reviews saying the Micro does a better job with wind. I have 3 and they do a great job. I also have a Deity Mic (the smaller one with a forward and backward mic) and the deadcat doesn't do a good job with wind. Outdoors, wind is the enemy. It'll ruin your sound.

I've been doing 90% studio stuff for over a decade and record through analog preamps and compressors into protools and synch up later. However, I;ve got some travel location gigs and I'm considering taking one of the api lunchboxes out of the rack and bringing my goto analog stuff for audio recording all externally on laptop on pro tools. so much extra to fly with and i would need a proper flight case. That's why I'm here checking out stuff like the saramonic lavs and what not, but yeah, using the fuji xt4 internal preamps I'm sure isn't as good as the zooms and what not. they've gotten a lot better and clearer over the years.

clap you hands together at the start, see the spike in you video editor and adjust - in davinci resolve, use the menu to auto-sync the tracks

If your camera sends time code via hdmi like the Sony Alpha 6400 and you have a recorder that receives timecode like the MixPres you are safe. The cheap method: use Davinci Resolve (it is free). Record the same audio with the camera as with the recorder. Simply align the two wavefiles in DaVinci. You can sync with your eyes because of the nearly identical shape of the waveforms. Throw the cam audio away. Ready.
