This was super helpful thanks! I have a question re white balance. Totally get your point of having a uniform white balance across your videos but what if you're moving locations throughout the day and shooting from day to night? Should you adjust the white balance whenever you move/ the light changes? Or does that make it more difficult to edit in post? Thanks so much for your help, your channel is great.

I have a question: I record lengthy nature scenes (birds, squirrels etc) and need a camera that will record continuously for several hours. I currently use the Sony A6400 which will record for 10 hours straight on a 256GB Card and on A/C power. I would prefer to use my Fujifilm XT2 with unlimited A/C power via the battery grip, as it’s got much better quality but the video time limits make it impractical to press record every 30 minutes. I’ve heard that the XT5 has no video recording time limits (until battery exhausts or memory card fills up) but has no power grip to plug in a/c power. Can the xt5 connect to A/C power, enabling several continuous hours of recording footage? If not, can you recommend a camera (preferably from the fujifilm family) that can? Thank you.

Great info, as usual...wish I'd had this for our pre-covid Italy tour...grin. I used a Panasonic ZS1000-ii bridge camera(was new with 4k) with the excellent Azden SMX-30 stereo/mono microphone and for a novice video user this worked well. BUT...one thing I wish I could change...either use a variable ND filter OR the slightly older ZS2500 with several built-in ND (change with buttons on the lens barrel). Why? Because quickly going between bright Italy sun to dark ancient buildings with a moving tour does not allow time to change screw-on filters, so you miss stuff. That was a newbie mistake. 😏 But check out that microphone; it did amazingly well in very challenging conditions.

H.265.....MOV......the bane of my last few days finding the HEVC codec is missing from windows. My Fuji files just wouldn't 'mysteriously' load! This needs a good fat video on how to produce a file that you can actually edit without resorting to bloated MP4 files from camera. I relay on your thorough work....do me another! THANK YOU for all your good stuff.

Sorted myself...After frusting attempts to file convert...it all boiled down to my computer's graphics processor. My suggestion is to avoid H.265 if your GP is mediocre as mine is, the Intel iRISxe.

Hi! Thank you for the great video. I usually outsource my edits, but since I got my XT3, none of the editors I work with are able to use the files on their computers. Initially I thought it could be because of the 4K, but I have a decent machine and even then I have problems sometimes. I also thought that it could be premiere's fault, I imagine it may have something to do with h265. What would be the most compatible format to convert the files before editing? It's really slowing down my workflow. Thanks

I have been using the Fujifilm camera right from when the x-Pro1 came out but mostly for still photography. Just recently I have been getting into video and now have an X-T4 (upgraded from X-T2) along with a dji pocket 2. I have a whole host of Fuji zoom and prime lenses inc the 18 - 55mm that you recommended. This has to be the best quality 'kit lens' out there and me calling it a kit lens is probably an insult. I have generally used Lee filters for my stills photography but can see the advantages of getting variable ND for videos. Getting a variable ND for all of the filter ring sizes would get expensive. The most frequent sizes in my lenses are 62mm and 58mm. I was wondering about getting a 62mm and then fitting a 58mm step ring (and similar for other sizes). I would welcome your thought on this. Also you views on what ND range (2 - 32 or wider) and things like magnetic mounting (eg K&F)

Hello, I use that one for videography and it works great for me. I think 18-55 is most popular, but I love this one as well. Depends what kind of videography you do. If you don't need it at the moment, there are some rumours that Sigma will release some new X mount lenses for Fuji, so maybe you can wait few more months.

Hi, very useful tutorial! I have one question if you don’t mind: I have a Fuji xt20 with a standard 16-50 lens that came in a box with the camera. It doesn’t have an optical stabilization or any other buttons, just two control rings for zoom and the focus. My primary objective is the talking head video recording for KZbin. Question: do I need to upgrade the lens and if yes - to which one? Thank you.

Just got my very first Fujifilm camera, an X-T30 II with a XF 18-55 OIS lens on about 10 days ago. So inevitably, this Chanel was a golden treasure ! Now I have a feeling that my OIS feature doesn’t work.. the camera understands when it’s on or off, but my footages are exactly the same no matter what. I also noticed a sort of whirring humming sound coming from the lens.. is that sound normal ? Should I see a clear difference with and without the IOS ? I’m wondering if I should simply return the lens, or keep trying to solve it by myself. Thanks y’all !

Thanks for this video. I've been using the XT-4 now for a while and although I love it for still photography, the video really sucks. When I video behind the camera it is fine, but when I video myself in front of the the camera it always loses focus. The way to fix this would of course would be to manual focus, but I really want the XT-4 to just work like a Canon or Sony. I had one video where I talked to the camera in the field for half an hour, only to learn when I got home and looked at the footage that instead of focusing on my eyes (since I had eye detection on) it focused the entire time on something in the background with the greatest contrast. Never once focusing on my face! When talking to the camera it always hunts for my face when I blink or turn away. The auto focus on this camera is so frustrating that as soon as I have enough money, I'll probably buy a Sony. What are your thoughts on auto focus? Does Fujifilm suck as bad as I think, or is it just me? My last camera was a Canon, and I never had problems with AF. Second point. I saw you took the Casey Niestat Monthly course. Are you thinking about doing vlogs now? You probably will have a lot more fun doing vlogs than just tech reviews.
@professionalpotato4764
@professionalpotato4764 2 жыл бұрын
For vlogging, I would pick a Sony full frame (A7iv maybe). Not the APS-C ones because those old 2014 sensors are really really really bad. Canon is fine, but RF glass is expensive. Unless you have a 5 figure monthly salary, don't bother. I didn't even bother giving Fuji a chance and only shoot manual focus. Haven't vlogged yet. Especially after watching Philip Bloom's extensive test video. For now, I would say... hold off a little. Wait till May and see what Fuji brings to the table with the X-H2. The stacked sensor version of the X-H2 should have better autofocus, if not you can safely jump ship.

A second issue which I don't know if this is an issue, is that shooting at a shutter speed of 1/50th (in order to be double the 25p UK) and using the 25p gave me an output (according to Capcut) of 30 frames per second. The video runs & looks perfect in Capcut and as a .mov Quicktime video. But, I thought we were aiming for 25 fps with all the (UK) settings we have chosen? Thx
@grzegorzporowinski
@grzegorzporowinski 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe it will be a little bit stupid question, but please clarify one thing for me, because I'm completly new to video filming. I'm talking about high quality video "movie style" output. You picked up 24fps and you choosed 1/30 and than you changed it to 1/48. It would be a big mistake if you would choose 1/60? Choosing 1/48 is just about longer time to save some light without changing iso and aperture, or it have impact to the frames in final video? All best :)
