Fuji cameras let you bracket shoot with a few different options - AE, film simulation, etc. I wish they had the ability to bracket different custom settings. So each time you took a photo it would create 3 JPEG’s, and you could just keep the one you want.

I am not sure if the x100v has a Q button (quick menu) but a fourth way is to change the settings in the quick menu and then you can hold the Q button and it will ask you if you want to save your current settings to a custom preset. I have an X-t30 II and I think it is an amazing camera due to its small size while still having enough buttons and interchangeable lenses while sharing many of the X-T4's specs and features and it has a pop-up flash.

Thanks Steve, I hope the film simulations work well for you. If you wish to revert back to the default setting which was originally assigned to the custom slot by Fujifilm, go to edit/save custom settings > highlight the slot you want to reset > press ok and select reset > confirm That should set it back to what it was at factory settings. Hey Jay, nice video and interesting profiles. One question: do you use the clarity setting at all? On the film profiles it looks like you have, but hard to tell from a video. I do experiment also with 1 or 2 profiles to have an overexposed film look, but am not sure how to go with clarity. Thanks a lot!
@JayRegular4 жыл бұрын
I think clarity is great, the only reason I avoid it is because it takes extra processing time in camera to apply the effect for some reason. I would rather push clarity in a third party application or take the image in raw and in camera, apply the clarity after taking the photo

Such a great job you’ve done! Thank you! I am a pro, so I am used to only use raw and lots of post processing, not because I want but because I need to. But, hey, I bought X100V for my own photos, to enjoy photography again, so I want to get deep into those great Fujifilm simulations that look so good! So, what I understood is that there are only 7 slots, these can be used EITHER as pre-filled with the Fujifilm standard simulations OR modified by the user, renamed etc. I mean, if I change slot no2 and put a recipe in it, I will not have Velvia available in camera any more unless I reset no2 back to it? I got it right? Or do we always have the 7 standard slots available, PLUS another 7 custom slots for recipes?
@JayRegular3 жыл бұрын
There are only 7 slots in total to work with, if you apply a recipe to any of them you are not locked into using the film simulation for that recipe. You can change film simulations simply by going into IQ settings, and the current recipe parameters should be there for you to edit. Changing parameters will not be permanent, unless you resave the applied changes to the original custom slot the recipe was assigned to.
@teal.photos3 жыл бұрын
@@JayRegular Jay, another question if you don’t mind... when I click to save a recipe from X Raw Studio to the camera, there are two options that you can tick. 1) Copy to camera setting and 2) Copy to camera custom setting. I understand the second one, but what exactly is the first one doing?
@JayRegular3 жыл бұрын
From what I remember, one of them saves the recipes into Fuji raw studio (kind of like a preset), and the other saves the recipe to a camera custom slot
@TaffyXZ2 жыл бұрын
@@JayRegular Hey Jay, does that mean if I were to save custom recipes I should save those to C2- C7 with C1 being the one with default factory settings? So if I want to use built in simulations I should cycle through it under C1? Hope you get what I mean, just got the X-Pro 3 and things can be a bit confusing switching from analog to this. Thanks!
@JayRegular2 жыл бұрын
It would be a lot more convenient to go back to default settings if you leave c1 as it was when you first purchased the camera, but there are many film simulations to choose from so if say, you preferred astia over provia, you would still need to change c1 to astia as your "default" simulation

Good tutorial, Jay. Much to mull over. Found what might be a “bug” unique to XT-4 - cam touch keyboard (when naming custom settings, e.g.) - letter “L” appears in uppercase only, even when typing in lower case mode. What do you think about the grain setting?
@JayRegular4 жыл бұрын
I have mixed feelings about the grain setting. If shooting above 1600 iso, the noise produced by the xtrans sensor looks grainy enough (in a good way), so having grain set to anything more than weak/small can be a bit too hectic, especially if you are using auto iso
