This is very high on my list of GF lenses to buy soon. Thanks for this and the written review!

Glad it was of interest - a bit rushed compared to some of my other T/S lens reviews, but at least I was able to try it out.

Thanks Keith, I read your written review on this lens as well. I have the GF 110mm F2 lens. I am wondering on a basic level without engaging the T/S at all, how the maximum depth of field achievable without refraction compares between these lenses, or would the DOF on each lens at f11 (for example) be the same. Or perhaps because the optical design and number of glass elements are different one of these lenses might give greater depth of field at f11 than the other? What would you say?
@KeithCooper

110mm at f/11 is 110mm at f/11 whatever lens it is. Diffraction is diffraction - a fundamental of any lens. Now, differences in design mean that other aspects/aberrations/qualities differ, but DOF is not [of course, how OOF areas look can vary] Nor for that matter does tilt give you any 'more' DOF, just some control over where it is placed. Some aspects of optics can be tweaked - others are fundamentals...

Great review! 110 is a bit much for me too. A 80 or 90 would be better for my architectural work. I ordered the 30mm on day one and still waiting for it here in the US. Is there any word when they will deliver these to customers. The wait is agonizing.
@KeithCooper

Yes, an adapted TS-E 90 works well - the latest version even better. No idea about US deliveries I'm afraid

Excellent, Keith. Could you compare these T/S lenses to buying a Cambo "technical camera" that uses the Fuji as back and a dedicated lens at the front? In two ways: (1) financially - one T/S camera and a couple different focal lens fixed lenses may add up cheaper and may give more value for money. (2) functionally - sharpness, vignetting, etc. The Cambo is not suitable for handheld shots, of course, but you might never do that with the Fuji T/S either (especially as T/S is finicky). There's another Ytoob channel that has several videos about the Cambo and using it. The photographer runs a commercial studio in post code area LE2 5LS that's very close to your LE3 0JW, I guess. If you want the name, ask me - it's not proper etiquette to volunteer another channel in these comments. He specialises in product photography. As he also shoots Fuji, you might want to ask Fuji for more time with these lenses and, say, work with the other guy to do the comparison ... so you can each have your variant of the video. In the large format days, Cambo was the sort-of entry level for professionals. Not my choice, but Sinar P was. Sinar had their (called in my language) cradle adjustment rather than simple pivots like Cambo. It makes adjustment changes easier. The adjustment of the Fuji lens in this video mimics that Sinar P adjustment. In the videos about the Cambo for digital cameras as back, it seemed to me that this generation of Cambo also mimics that.

Thanks As to the other stuff, unlikely I'm afraid, unless I can get a company to lend me stuff to test.

The lack of a tripod mount on the 110mm is somewhat surprising. After all, in general, you want to move the sensor, rather than the lens, especially for panoramas. Is there any apparent reason for this?
@KeithCooper
@KeithCooper 5 ай бұрын
I'm not quite so surprised actually - 110mm is not really a lens for panos [unlike the 30mm] Also this is much more a match for the Canon TS-E90 and 135 - neither of which have such a mount. I'd also say that sensor movement is only something you'll think of if you come from a large format background. My feeling is that this is designed for Canon 90/135 users as a somewhat larger market. I've used a TS-E90 for years without any real desire for a bracket ;-) For the TS-E17 and 24 I've used them with a TSE frame on occasions for stitching.

@@KeithCooper I agree it's less necessary for the 110mm than for the 30mm. But from afar it seems that if it could be implemented for the 30mm, it's not that much of a problem or effort to do the same for the 110mm. What if you have set up your macro stand for a 110mm focal length and you stumble upon some larger item or product that would require 85mm, or 105mm for that matter?
@KeithCooper
@KeithCooper 5 ай бұрын
Yes, I have a stand/mount which covers a wide variety of lens options. However, I don't really regard the 110 as a macro lens though - just writing 'macro' on the lens does not make it a macro ;-)

are you sure the light table you use doesn't have vignetting too?
@KeithCooper
@KeithCooper 5 ай бұрын
Yes - I've used it for years for such qualitative tests [and it's remember that's what these are] Some flat field shots showed that using it as close as I do eliminates most variation. The key is to remember that this is absolutely not a quantitative test of lens characteristics ;-)

I have a short video covering it - Fuji lent me one to try. Yes, a good lens, but not one to fit what I do. Curiously enough, I have a 75/4 manual lens to test on the GFX - similarly not quite sure what I'll use it for ;-)
