Excellent comprehensive tutorial. I've always enjoyed shooting with Fuji.

IBIS on tripod should be turned "off" at all times, that is at least when you use a lens that does not have IS itself (that applies to all vintage adapted lenses). In my experience, GFX cameras will introduce blurriness to pretty much all exposures when on tripod when IBIS on, especially longer exposures using electronic shutter. I have tested it extensively, this is for all GFX 100, 100s, 100S II users that are trying to figure out why their images are blurry when on tripod. Disable in-body IS and you are good to go. This has been my experience with Pentax cameras as well.

Well done from NZ. What a great teacher...

One reason to have the option to turn the IS off on the body is if you use these cameras for aerial mapping. I just bought the gfx 100s and 100 infrared for aerial mapping and in this circumstance I do not want the sensor moving for photogrammetry work. Great video thanks for all the info on these incredible cameras.

Off topic, does the Fujifilm color look the same as Hasselblad? Which camera color do you like better? Thanks. Great video!

honestly the way you hold the camera to be in front of the video will certainly affect the image. the classic - holding the camera up to see through the EVF to have 3 contact points (2hands + 1 head) should help to get closer to that 1second stabilization.

I wonder how much having the OIS made the difference? At equivalent focal lengths (e.g., 45mm), how many stops would one have gained with the 32-64 with just IS?

I’m loving many of your contributions because you’re thinking out-of-the-box (well, you call it arithmetical thinking), for example, this video about image stabilisation. I also notice from your videos, that you’re going from Leica to cropped MF to full MF, etc., but what about the reverse? In the narrow sense I mean IS just in say, a Nikon Z body, what does that do? I can guess myself based on your video, even if it’s just in body stabilisation but it would be nice to hear from someone like yourself about this. However there is a broader point:- Whats going with, for example, between a MF lens to Nikon Z mount? There are various dumb helicoid adapters, supplied by Fotodiox, or Hartblei, that can take a Hasselblad or Mamiya RZ and bolt it on a Nikon, Canon etc. What effect does these have? From personal experience, I would say a massive one because to enter the camera multiverse! That’s maybe not so interesting for a Pro like you but for a prosumer such as myself, converting, for example, a Taron PR M25 rangefinder lens (which I’m now doing, so no photos yet) to a Z-mount has merit because according to some KZbinrs it’s the “perfect landscape lens”; perhaps better than that review you did if the Hasselblad telephoto (the xcd 25-75). In other words, mirrorless opens up unplanned for possibilities. I for one would be interested in your arithmetic in this broader regard as well and perhaps so would a few thousand Canon, Fuji and Nikon users? However please understand that I’m entirely happy with what you’re doing and respect your your position in that. I’ll now get on to Fotodiox and ask them if they can get permission to adapt a xcd 35-75 onto a Z mount!

My IS Mode in my GFX50R never comes on, so i can't set it. It does not matter what lenses i use, i have the 23mm and 2 Teles including the latest 35-70, .. So, why does my IS Mode alwys stay dark in my Settings..... so that im not able to go into that setting, no matter the Lens i use?

Where are you seeing which IS “stop” you’re at, and how are you controlling that?
@keikokenziesirasta70864 ай бұрын
A stop is a relative measurement. His baseline was 1/focal length. A stop in difference is either half the light if negative or double the light if positive. Hope that helps.

Using the GFX 100 Camera on a Tripod, while IBIS is switched on, will it affect the image quality ?

Hi, On my Fuji GFX50s the is mode is grayed out ond set to off, how can i turn it on?
@mathphotographer2 жыл бұрын
The GFX50s does not have IS. Guess you are referring to the GFX50sII ? Generally, if IS is greyed out, its likely due to some other setting which is interfering with IS. Try to reset the camera, see if IS is enabled and then check with every other setting that it does not get greyed out again. You can also download the pdf manual for the GFX50sII and search for IS. You will likely then find which other settings disable IS.

@@mathphotographer Hi, Thanks for the reply,The GFX50s does have IS mode, why it wont work is that i am useing canon lenes.
@mathphotographer2 жыл бұрын
@@karlhorton185 Hi Karl, now I get it. Let me try to be more precise with my reply: The GFX50S has no IBIS (in-body image stabilization), the GFX50SII has IBIS. Means that the GFX50S only has IS when using a lens with IS whereas the GFX50SII with IBIS will image-stabilize also with third-party lenses like Canon mounted on FujiGFX. Question for you to test: if you mount an original Fuji GF lens with lens/optical IS onto your GFX50S, is IS then activated and no longer greyed out? And if you mount a Canon lens via adapter, is it then greyed out? If yes, that would mean that IS on the GFX50S needs an IS Fuji GF lens to operate. On the GFX50SII (and on the GFX100 and GFX100S) you don't have that issue because image stabilization works in the camera body via sensor stabilization and will work with all lenses, even with non-Fuji lenses when mounted via adapter. The GFX50S and the GFX50R are the two older cameras in the GFX world which do not have IBIS - which makes the menu entry being greyed out.

@@mathphotographer Hi, Thanks for the info, I use the same lenes on my H-X1 and X-T2 and the is mode is fine, on the GFx 50s, even with the canon adapter off it is still grayed out. this is not right.

I thought the reciprical rule (guideline) applied to primes? A zoom is usually larger and hevier than a prime at either end of its zoom lengths.
