Fujifilm Instax Mini EVO Unboxing & Setup plus Compared vs. LiPlay vs. Mini 90 and Mini 11

In this video I do unboxing of the Fujifilm Instax Mini EVO hybrid instant camera that allows you to take digital images and then print them on the camera as well on the Instax Mini film. The film comes in a lot of different varieties.
I explain all the different parts of the camera and how it operates. I also go through all the menus of the camera. I make a print from the camera and also print a photo from my iPhone. I show how to pair/connect the camera to the iPhone.
The camera takes only 5 megapixel images, which are about 1.2MB in size so you can store a lot of images on a micro SD card (micro SD card is not included). The Instax Mini film is also NOT included with the camera.

This camera is just about to launch in Canada. I pre-ordered it and watching this video is making me feel even more excited to receive it! I’ve had a hello kitty instax camera before and I didn’t like it because I had no control of a lot of things and as a result, I would waste a lot of expensive film. Now that this Mini Evo exists, I’m excited to be having a little more control of how the pictures will turn out and the fact that I can choose to print or not print images is huge for me. It’s just a shame that they didn’t make the batteries removable.. I hope Instax makes a camera like this with changeable batteries in the future. That would be the perfect hybrid camera for me.

I bought a new one of this, when I insert a new pack of film, the darkslide can't be ejected. The battery is fully charged, everything seem good, just the darkslide can't be ejected. what could possibly be the problem? I don't have a SD card, is it a problem?

First of all thank you for the descriptive, detailed comparison between the four cameras. My daughter is getting married and I’m looking for a camera that is comparatively easier to point and shoot and have our guests take pictures or selfie’s of themselves and put them in the guest book with a wedding note. What would you suggest to keep on a table for the guest to use? I am also interested in the best quality of the picture.

It has been out on the US market since March 2022, but I guess due to the supply chain issues it is not easily available. Best bet is to order it now and when a new shipment comes in, they will ship it to you. Here in Switzerland they have plenty in stock.

Turn on and off the camera to see if it fixes your issue.

I think the print quality is a little bit better than the LiPlay. Compared to the Mini 90 or Mini 11 I think it all depends on how well the exposure is on the 90/11. The 90/11 tend to overexpose images in bright sun. I will post more detailed comparison soon.

No, you don’t have to get an sd card. That being said, it’s best to have it since the in-house camera storage will only allow you to store 45 pictures. I would say that a 16gb sd card would probably be good enough for this camera.

The micro SD card is not absolutely necessary, but as Mary said below the camera only has storage for 45 images. And micro SD cards are so cheap that it makes sense to get one. Any size will work. Even a 1GB card will give you storage for 800 images.

Are you able to remove the border when printing? Like the kodak mini shot 2 retro?

@@gamerfanletsplay9302 That is not possible. The white borders hold the chemicals. The Instax is a true chemical process, it is not a printer like an inject printer.

I would not worry about that. I expect the battery to last a very long time. I have rechargeable batteries that I bought in 2009 and they still work fine (capacity reduced compared to when new but still very useable).

"Better" is a subjective term. But unless you are looking for an analog experience then the Evo is a better camera.
