200 Mbps recorder in X-M5. 360 Mbps in X-S20. 400 Mbps in X-T3 from 2018

Different products, different targets. 200mbps is way more than any content creator would use, I film my videos at 50mbps for you KZbin and there is plenty of data to work with. I wouldn't get lost in this spec diving as most of the potential buyers don't even know what Mbps means

Great video, as always! Correct me if I'm wrong, but f2.8 in APSC is equivalent to f4 in full frame, and the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Lens is $997, so the 16-50 f2.8 at $1100 is definitly not half the price. The weight of the Nikkor is 17.6 oz vs. 14.5 oz for the Fuji, so there is some difference in weight, but not a crazy difference, and the dimensions of the Nikkor are 3.05" x3.48", less than the Fuji at 3.1x3.7 so the Nikkor is actually smaller. It seems that the Fuji 16-55 f2.8, even at a much reduced size and weight from the 1st version, is still relatively large for an APSC lens.
@LucaPetraliaPhotographyАй бұрын
The issue is you're considering Depth of field equivalence, while what matters is light gathering. And in that regard, f2.8 remains 2.8 regardless of the sensor size. That's why the comparison has to be with f2.8 zooms, regardless of the depth of field equivalence
@hpaula1946Ай бұрын
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography Thank you Luca. I think that I need to start reading some basic photography basics books! How about the Nikkor 24-70 vs. Fuji 16-50 in terms of price, size, and weight. Pretty much the same, it seems, even though the Nikkor is full frame.
@LucaPetraliaPhotographyАй бұрын
@@hpaula1946 the Nikon has a fixed aperture, while the fuji doesn't. On the other hand the Fuji starts at 2.8, so a full stop advantage over the Nikon, while being only half a stop slower on the telephoto end. Last, but not least... The Fuji is much smaller and lighter which is a huge advantage. However I haven't tried the Nikon, so I can't compare image quality

The $3k price is wonderful and definitely tempting, but it is pointless to attach it to a camera that will not FOCUS! I have the 150-600 and using that with my X-T5, well, I am now using it on my X-T3, hell, I have even used it on my X-Pro 3 with better results that the X-T5 (post the disastrous firmware updates). The fact that this subject was not addressed has me concerned. As for the 16-55, again, if Fuji, addresses and fixes the focusing issues, I’ll pick one up.
@LucaPetraliaPhotographyАй бұрын
Me too. I'm optimistic they will fix it
@matt88169Ай бұрын
Both new lenses sound like excellent additions. The 16-55 will probably sell like hot cakes given it will be quite a bit lighter. Still, I wanted to see the lens stay about the same size and open up to f/2-that would have been too good to pass up. As it is, I’ll await the reviews as the mk I has been serving me very well lately. Id like to see Fuji release a 16-70 f/2.8 and some sort of f/2 zoom…along with an additional f/1 or f1.2 options.
@tomleo4670Ай бұрын
Thank you very much, Luca for your thoughts and comments! The 500mm feels indeed very intriguing - it is lighter than the XF 100-400mm, that‘s a huge deal. But as you yourself and some other folks commented: Fuji needs to get the AF issue fixed.. I sold my X-T3 to finance the X-T5.. so I cannot go back..

As a Fuji pro event photographer I bought a canon r6mkii and the autofocus is amazing but I like the Fuji colours more and I just hope Fuji fixes the autofocus issue and that I can still keep and use my Fuji cameras professionally instead of moving to canon completely

How would you compare canon af to the fuji one before been broken?
@Pixelpeeps-69Ай бұрын
@@ITOSNOVA before I could still work around it and the auto focus is fantastic on my Fuji xt4 but crap on xt5 and xh2 and I found that autofocus works way better using viltrox lenses
@ITOSNOVAАй бұрын
@@Pixelpeeps-69 Thank you for the info. A bit surprised to hear about viltrox. But you've got Canon R6 2 which af should be top notch. I'm interested how would you estimate XT4 to be far behind on practice compared to the R6 2? P.S. I own XT5 as the first fuji camera. And really like it! My shooting style is predominantly static, although feel the af speed and accuracy lacking.

Very good video Luca. If the X-M5 had a viewfinder I “would” definitely get one as just another toy. The images from the XF500 are great (based on sample images on you-tube), but for my “style” of photography I prefer a zoom lens such as my XF70-300 and if I need a little more reach I can always attach the 1.4 teleconverter. I have the XF16-80 and recently I got the XF16-50, I understand the f/2.8 on the new XF16-55 (or the previous one) compared to what I have, but honestly I don’t remember when was the last time I shot below f/5.6. Having said all that, even though I’ve been shooting for over 30 years, I’m just an amateur/hobbyist, if I was a professional, my priorities and needs would be different. Be well.
@LucaPetraliaPhotographyАй бұрын
Thanks as usual Enrique. Your X-M5 will be the X-E5. You'll buy that one. As for the lens, I understand. I am very intrigued by that 500 however

The 500 5.6 looks amazing! It'll be awesome to pair it with the 70-300. Do you think you'll still keep the Tamron 17-70 or do you think you'll be tempted by the 16-55 mk2?
@LucaPetraliaPhotographyАй бұрын
I had to send the 17-70 back, but with this size and weight... I'd go for the Fuji MKII. The 500 + 70-300 would definitely be a great combo

I am not interested in the camera, although I agree it is very nice and definitely fills a gap in the Fuji range, but I am VERY tempted by the 16-55 lens. Might get a pre-order in right away. Thanks for the video, Luca.

Lots of if-s in Fuji now. If AF, If quality, If ISO noise, if small batteries, if firmware, low-quality viewfinder& screen????? I have used Fuji for over 10 years, mostly street photography and it is a "love-hate" relationship. I don't like my Sony FF, but I rely on them.
@LucaPetraliaPhotographyАй бұрын
The only if is with autofocus. The quality of the lenses I personally take for granted, while the construction quality of the X-M5 is related only to the low price tag, because it's the first time Fuji goes that low in price, and we don't know what to expect. As for the Sony FF... I am like you, I'm not excited to use them, but they get the job done
@BelaAcs-m6rАй бұрын
@@LucaPetraliaPhotography I did not talk about lens quality, but Fuji lenses are more expensive then their counterparts. 80mm macro, 50-140, 100-400. About quality of cameras. XT2 was the last what was made in Japan. I still have that camera in mint condition except the screen when tilted works on 45degree. (dropped a few times). XT3 more plastic dials, XT4 even more plastic dials and XT5 only plastic dials and parts. Well, I hope they keep their promise to fix the AF, otherwise they will loose of their best customers.

conclusion is fuji is at least 5 years behind everyone else, struggling to fix their autofocus issue and rehashing sensors into a multitude of camera bodies no one is asking for
@LucaPetraliaPhotographyАй бұрын
That's your personal conclusion. All the manufacturers have cameras that are not for everyone's taste. The only true thing is the autofocusing issues
