It doesn't have to be the case for all of us. But just the form factor of X-Pro series is something special, i have the X-Pro 3, but no matter really if it is X-Pro 1, 2, 3 there is just something special. For me in this case the gear actually matter, i was using the Canon M50 as my first digital camera before and i felt like it was similar to my phone, the quality of the images was better of course, but the process of taking photos was similar, the EVF was small so i was using mostly touchscreen, it was like computer with a lens on it and i feel it is similar also with other modern cameras.. I was curious about photography, but i was not really taking camera with me much often. With Fuji i have it at me all the time and when i'm not taking photos, it is sitting on my desk next to me and i just want to pick it up and go out :) It sounds like something from Fuji promotional videos, but it really is like that for me. I'm sure it will be similar with Leica or film cameras, but otherwise Fuji is really the only more affordable option that will give you similar experience. Let's hope that Fuji will keep the form factor untouched in the future including the OVF.

As a long time film guy, the Fuji X series are the only digital cameras I feel comfortable with. I started with the X-Pro 1 some years ago as a digital sidekick to my MP, and took it for a trip around Southern Europe. Much as I love my MP, I got most of my best photos with the X-Pro, despite it being an early version with the terribly sluggish autofocus. I traded up toward the X-Pro 2, which offered the few improvements which I thought would make it the perfect digital camera, and so far, it has been.

😊something I haven’t seen in reasons for buying this camera is a problem that I had, cataracts. Looking at a screen just became hard. I didn’t realize how this camera would be able to help me before I bought it, but it really did. It was easier to look through the ovf than the evf for long days on the street. After surgery it was no longer a problem and I bought a XT-20 for its size and weight. But picked up my Pro 2 again and realized how great a camera it is. I bought the Pro 2 in one of the first months after it came out. It is just a great camera and that is from someone who has been shooting for more than 60 years. It is just fun to shoot with.

I have a 7Artisans 35/1.2 I like to use, all manual, that one is also great in low light, so I switched to the xf35/2 from the 1.4 and like it a lot. Paired with the older sensor it gives the files a more organic look, sort of taken away the digital sharp and clean look. Nice! I also like the simple menu, not 1000 of functions and options. Only thing I whish for, better focus peaking. I would even like a X100 serie model to be without screen and less options. Just pure photograpjy. Wouldn‘t that be cool. Last year I switched to Nikon Z for work (next to my H6D), but the X-Pro2 will stay with me for my personal work. Right next to my M7 and Q2 Monochrome. It’s simply that great. I’ve used most Fuji X and GFX cameras, but in terms of value and performance, the X-Pro2 is imo the best Fuji X for stills. I don’t like what they did with the X-Pro3. The sub screen is a gimmick, the LCD is annoying to use and the OVF is actually worse than the X-Pro2. Let’s hope that for the X-Pro4 Fuji will use the X100V LCD-mechanism and ISO dial. Then it would be perfect. I fully agree that the 24MP files are a bit easier to edit compared to the 26MP. In IQ there’s at least no visible difference. An almost new X-Pro2 for £599 is a bargain. Thank you so much. I love shooting film and one of the main reasons is the OVF. The digital viewfinder on modern mirrorless designs just creates a level of abstraction that separates me from the experience.

My dream camera! I bought mine 2 weeks ago 570£ graphite one! So happy to have it, made an unboxing video too. I will keep 35 1.4 with it and 18-55 zoom just 2 of them in my bag. About OVF is you working ok with 35? I think mine is a bit off wondeing how to fix. Same with zoom lens seems a bit more to the right hmm

I bought an xpro2 today for very little money. The camera is pretty much like new only 22k shots, and it’s exactly what I expected because the xt30II is a true pain in handling. The xpro2 is super easy to handle …. old but good…

Would you mind expanding a bit on why you prefer the files from this vs the X100V? Currently using an X100V and had the X-T2 in the past (same sensor) so just curious!

I bought mine in 2019 for 720 CHF (£572) with the extra grip and the 27mm f2.8 (which I sold). I don't think that the seller knew what he was selling, because it's my favorite camera to date. Wouldn't want to use it without the extra grip though. The stock one is too shallow for my liking.

I’ve gotten pretty disillusioned with the EVFs that I’ve been using with my Sony cameras for the last few years. It’s one of the big reasons that got me into shooting film. I won’t be able to get rid of the Sony because it’s just such a versatile camera for hybrid work, but seriously considering the XPro2 or X100V. X100V is so nice and compact, which makes it very tempting. Fits in my pocket. But I’ll be trying both. Great video!

Got a mint one a year ago and just sold my mint D810 as I just take the Fuji over my shoulder now with 35 1.4 and now I’m on the verge of selling all my Nikon stuff but that’s a problem as I’d have to buy big Fuji lenses to cover the range at 2.8 and that goes against why I love the camera so much. It’s a lovely thing to handle and look at.

Are you still getting any use out of your x-pro3 Shane? I've had mine for a a year now and it's the most fun had in a long time. The screen doesn't bother me and it feels very similar to my bessa. I've been using the 23mm f2, but I've been looking into the 35 f1.4. I've heard the focusing can be a bit loud and slow though
@frame-lines3 жыл бұрын
The image quality and character from the 35 1.4 is some of the best I’ve seen from the xpro, but you’re right it’s very slow and loud because it’s one of Fuji’s first x series lenses. It’s a trade off. (I don’t have the xpro3 anymore. I traded it last year - and slightly regret it. It’s a wonderful camera :) )

I'm curious if anyone here has used the xpro2 with an adapted Voightlander or Leica lens -- and whether the focus distance scale matches on adapted lenses? Thinking of buying this for street shooting, but the fly-by-wire manual focus on Fuji lenses makes zone focusing lame.

You said you use your X-Pro2 as a backup for your main camera. What is your main camera? I ask because I had planned on using my X-Pro2 as a backup for my Leica M10 main camera but found the XP2 so versatile that my M10 is now backup for my XP2.

Hi Michael. I've only one question which relates to the reason why I'm hesitant in considering an XPro2--How's your unit's eyecup having owned the XPro2 for about a year? Has it held up or has it begun to degrade such that it would eventually fall off? (It's a very known issue of this specific Fujifilm camera body). Thank you.
