Great video. The manual transmission is an analogy I use as well when shooting something like a Leica (manual focus) or Fuji with the manual dials. Slows you down to enjoy the process and work that goes into driving or taking photos.

Short and sweet review! Your car analogy really hit it on the head for me. I too am a car enthusiast and LOVE driving a manual. It makes my otherwise boring commute from point A to point B a more involved and ejoyable experience. sometimes I would take the long way home just to enjoy the twisty back roads. Picking up the X-Pro3 really adds speed bumps to how I shoot and this makes it really rewarding when I get that perfect shot (at least for me). just like having an impractical manual sports car, I'm just taking in the experience of capturing photos instead of just taking a picture.

Extremely well-made video and well-stated thesis. What Fujifilm is doing with their X-line is giving people _choices_. If you want efficiency, IBIS, a tilty-screen, latest and greatest specs, get an X-T4. If you want a soulful, nostalgic shooting experience, get the X-Pro3. What's amazing is that Fuji has TWO flagships: one of which speaks to the heart of the brand and the other speaks to the mind. For me, the whole reason I got into Fuji with the X100 (yes, the original one) was the passion for photography that its products evoke. I love the duality Fuji offers, and that they are keeping it as part of their UVP. Considering almost everyone else is moving towards more spec-driven products (except maybe Leica) this is win for mirrorless photography as a whole.

I purchased one 3 weeks ago specifically because of the rear lcd screen placement, optical view finder, the look, feel and most of all the experience. Does it deliver? Most certainly, its my daily driver for personal photography. I shoot canon and sony for work and they are work cameras. i wanted something for me, something for my personal photography that didnt look or feel like a mainstream dslr or mirrorless. I have had people on street ask if it is a film camera. Its just a joy to use for someone who is willing to want to use it. If you are a chimper then stay away, it will drive you bananas. Its funny, i have noticed on a few jobs last week, i stopped chimping on the a7iii lol. To describe to others who feel they dont understand, I would say its like having a family boring daily driver car that gets you from a to z (canon or sony camera), the xpro 3 is that old classic or unique sports car that you take on weekend drives through the hills, stopping at a coffee shop and meandering around the small villages throughout the day, its comfy, easy on the eye and is relaxing. You wind down with this camera, its no rush, just point and shoot and move on. I enjoy photography more now having it as a private personal camera. Lugging around my commercial bodies felt like I was at work all the time when away. Yeah I could have purchased another sony or canon, bu they just dont come close to the looks, feel and ergonomics of the XPro 3.

As someone who shot with the X-Pro3 as my main camera for many years, I really enjoyed this. Personally, I feel that the nostalgia / slowing down aspect of the camera is often overstated. In fact, it's very easy to chimp in the X-Pro3 viewfinder, just by hitting the play button, the AF is fast, there's eye/face tracking, and you can shoot bursts at many frames per second. It's a totally modern camera. The real story with the X-Pro3 has to do with framing the subject. Fuji is the only company making AF digital cameras with optical viewfinders. The X-Pro3's flip-down screen is a superb and fast-to-deploy waist-level finder-it's actually a highly efficient design. So the camera, to me, is more about offering users choices in how they frame their subjects. If you really want to slow down, you can use a manual-focus lens (like the new Voigtlander for X-mount), or just head directly for Leica M, digital or film. Meanwhile, the X-Pro3 is the perfect camera for a certain kind of user who wants fast, intuitive access to an OVF and a waist-level screen.

Now I'm conflicted. X-Pro3 seems like a great camera for versatility in lenses, but the x100v is such a nice run and gun fixed focal length for simplicity. I'm used to shooting larger Full Frame lenses, but that seems way too intimidating for even my nephew he changes how he smiles and sometimes poses way too awkwardly (and kids are great at telling whether they like or don't like something lol). I love shooting 35mm Film on my old canon ef-1 a 35mm f1.4. But by having a discrete and less intimidating camera, said in your previous video, it is great for everyday use. If you had to pick one, would you consider the X-Pro3 instead of the x100v?

This camera's only difference to any other camera is the rear screen placement. Thats it. The world is so full of pointless princesses, all wanting to vent their saddened worries at the lack of an easily accessible rear lcd. FFS 85% of people who call themselves photographers are just people who use a camera to take photos but in reality they are smartphone, instant gratification users who just use a camera to look the part when in reality they aren't photographers, but posers.
