I have watched a ton of videos about the Xt1, and this has been by far the most useful video on this camera. A new subscriber. Thanks Ralf

Ralfs, I clicked on "I like" and also want tell you many, many thanks for the patient calm with which you explain and talk. Your English (it's almost a true Londoner, certainly is not American) is very understandable, for me it is easier to understand than many native English speakers and is also relaxing as well as informative. Which Is the maximum number of shots settable for the time-lapse, is it perhaps 999? I have the Fuji X-E1 with the 18-55, 55-200 and the various adapters for different lenses, I like it (it's one of the few cameras that has a monitor that does not yield miserably under full sun and is fairly well visible, but is fixed, non-articulated). Now I'd like to also have this Fuji X-T1 because it is probably better as ergonomics, but having just got even Sony A7r, I do not think I would have many practical advantages with this new Fuji, if not a silent, light shutter that does not risk the camera shake, sometimes also on the tripod, blurring all the picture with a shutter under the T 1/160 ...1/100. I don't want to say you that I have also other cameras ... ... by the other brands! What do you think?

Thanks Ralfs. but just one correction the X-t1 has got the electronic shutter aswell as the mechanical shutter. which can be found under the shooting Mode menu

I think the new EVF and improvements in continuous focus are whats going to sell this camera,in previous Fujifilm cameras these haven't been quite good enough, I believe there is no longer any practical need to lug around a bulky DSLR and lenses. My X-T1 is on the way :)

The camera does have an electronic shutter. It will be enabled with the next firmware update in December 2014. 1/32 000s maximum shutter speed will be possible then (no - that's not a joke!). That's so great when using fast lenses wide open.

Ralf, Are you going to do a follow-up video about the new firmware coming in December 2014 that will add electronic shutter and other features? Really enjoy your videos.

Thanks for this great video, I have only one question regarding new FW4 AF modes. In either Zone or Wide/Tracking modes, When half-pressing shutter release, sometime several autofocus points (green boxes) are highlighted in green showing they achieved focus - my question is: which one of those boxes the camera is actually locking into for the exposure ? Sometimes there will be several boxes highlighted in a zone or wide/tracking - some will lock on objects in the front and some locked on objects in the rear - when I fully press the shutter release - which of those boxes is actually used by the camera as the focus point ? Couldn't find explanation for this in all Fuji manuals

Great Video Ralf, and very good review on the benefits of using this Fuji camera. Although there now is a Fuji X-T2 with new features, the X-T1 is still ideal for most photographers. Since this video Fuji has brought out a 100-400mm XF lens. So maybe it is now OK for Sports?

You can actually use the fn button on the front right of the XT-1 to select advanced filter settings without having to go through the menu. Great vid though :-)

do you find the four buttons on the back of the camera (the 4 arrow dial...I don't know how to call it exactly) not so comfortable to press? Some reviewers are saying that buttons on the back are in general difficult to press because they're like deep inside the camera. Do you think this is something wrong about the T1 or do you think it's only a matter of time and get used to? Thanks!
@amosk2410 жыл бұрын
Just need to get used to it. The middle button is like a bubble. So find the middle button, then you can find the directional buttons easily.

The fact that Fuji did put an dedicated video button on top of the plate, indicates they have future plans with it. All the mentioned shortcomings are easily solved in firmware, focus peaking, full control over exposure, aperture, iso etc. They also should upgrade to a better video codec, 'cause the output really sucks. You call it "very high quality video", but than you never shot any video of detailed subjects like branches and grass. Lots of moire and color artifacts. So I think we'll have to wait and see what Fuji comes up with in the next firmware.

can you move the focus point around in one step, like one push of a button on the 4 way control, without having to do 3 or 4 steps first to move it ? ? ? ? ?
@retiredandroaming10 жыл бұрын
I would like to see a little more on the options for focus point selection and movement within the frame as well. Have seen a few videos on the X-T1 where this is considered a significant "problem" due to the fiddly little control buttons on the back?
@amosk2410 жыл бұрын
Yes, just tap the up arrow and you can immediately change your focus point. It works well

Ralfs, I just got my X-t1 and when I look through the EVF it looks blurry, NEVER clear like it shows on the display of the camera Can you suggest me how to adjust that? Thanks

I bet your diopeter is off. Try rotating that while looking through the EVF.. Mine is crystal clear. Page 20 in your instruction manual.

Do You find the view finder to be better than the Sony A7 and A7r. i purchased the A7r and the camera is impossible to shoot in low light because of the lag from the EVF. Forget astrophotography with that camera. Is this EVF lag free? Thanks!
@streets28mm10 жыл бұрын
being better, yes it is! In dark situations no lagging but it will be very noisy!
@ThePhotoTruth10 жыл бұрын
Yep it is! Of coarse not a problem if you focus it at a higher shutter speed. Then switch it to a longer exposure.

Hello Ralf, in part based on your review I got a Sony A7MK2 (sometime ago) with 3 lenses and I couldn’t be happier. Now I’m looking at the Fuji XT-2 (not to replace the sony), I just want a second camera and I am thinking about getting just one lens, the 18 to 135, to have with me in the car at all times. I would like to know what is your opinion on the camera and that lens and are you planning a review on this camera? BTW, I’m not a professional, this is just a hobby and I have no interest in video, this will only be for still photos. Thank you.
@MrArturhM8 жыл бұрын
Let me tell you that I just received that Fuji lens, and did a lot of reviews about it, in short: very good lens for traveling and for having fun and getting excelent image quality, not too good for professional work.

The Camera got an update around 2015.. it in creased its video capabilities in a huge way! You can now adjust nearly all Video features in manuell mode. you are also set up to shoot 24 and 25 fps have a look at some newer reviews.. this video is useless in respect of this topic...
@eatright429410 жыл бұрын
Fuji, Olympus et al should be including this guy's vids as part of their instruction manuals. Or just plain rip him off and copy his format.

Video - really? Buy a camcorder. Or buy a GH3 - it's a camera which is designed specifically to appeal to video nuts. There are no good codecs on the X-T1 anyway.
