Fujifilm X10 Full Review

I wish Fuji would bring back this model. The lens is superb in image quality and the short telephoto is the only lens you need. The film simulation is great. I like to shoot macro, so easy to use. Almost embarrassed that taking the image is so easy. Just the right weight, sturdy but light. I use only a hand strap and carry the camera around my neck in a small bag. Can walk around all day like this. No need for tripod. Can’t beat it for travel. I cringe when I see someone lugging a heavy camera bag. No need for all that gear, dude. Whatever gets between you and the image is redundant. I want the best image with the least effort.

Great review. Which one would you recommend best? The Fuji X10, the X20, Lumix LX7 or the Canon G15? I am very attracted to the X10 because of it´s retro look, image quality and sturdy feel but I know the other models exceed the X10's features. Thanks.

Great review. Seems like a stunning camera to settings where my DSLR would be too heavy to bring. I have heard some of the camera have some issues, would you recommend waiting for the next model? When can we expect the Fuji X11, end of this year some time?

Very informative review, next time it would be very nice to test ISO sensitivity to see how much noise does camera produce at high ISO, because it's very critical especially with those small compact cameras. Keep up good work Dave!

In the old days, Fuji Super 8 cameras did the opposite of all the others. You could get into closeup mode by first zooming in. I notice you mention nothing about manual override exposure in video mode. Is there any?

@caLumCake It would never replace my DSLR, but does offer a lot of similar features and handling. I would say this is a better option than a bridge camera, but not a DSLR replacement. However for a keen photographer it could be a good choice. I did not have the white orb effect on mine.

Hey Dave great review. I was seriously considering a Canon T3i or the T4i if it came out but then i had a second thought. They are big cameras. I have never owned a high end camera so i was wondering if i should purchase this and once i get better(at the moment i am a photography noob) get a dslr or should i get a cheap dslr(T3i) and then upgrade. I will mostly be doing car, street, and vacation photography in that order. Also i really love the way this look of the x10 over dslrs. Thanks!

There is a setting in the drive menu that will either take a single shot, 3 shots and then combine them to produce the best single image and a multiple shot that can take any number os photos and combine them for the best image. Change your drive setting to "Shot" and you will get a single shot only.

I've had the camera for some time now, and the focus is quite good in bright light, but when it gets darker and darker it uses more time focusing. but it is not that bad, hope it helped :)

The best thing out right now is the sony rx100 for your needs its in a class of its own ,its more portable than the x10 and half the weight and better in low light and video capturing and better pics in general but its more expensive if money is no problem.

Although the X10 can produce sharp close-ups, landscapes turn out more or less blurred. One third of the lens hood (needed to mount filters) is annoyingly visible in the viewfinder and has large open gaps on the sides which allow dust to enter both sides of the filter as well as (not fully protecting) the lens. Certain colours seems impossible to reproduce correctly. A thumb seized better grip plate just fell off. The menu is rather complicated. The autofocus often refuse to operate in macro mode if the object has low contrast. By the way, the manual focus mode is definitely not excellent, actually it is so clumsy and time consuming that it in practice is useless. Still the X10 is definitely able to produce great pictures, on certain conditions ---..

Torgeir Molaug if you have your camera on a tri pod for landscape pics make sure you have the image stabilisation turned OFF .... this goes for any camera, if it is on the shots will be blurred .... hope this helps

i'd say Fuji beat's the living shit out of the sony in terms of fun and handling. IQ might be a tad better at high ISO for the Sony, but the handling and feel of the Fuji is such a pleasure. The amount of external controls make you feel right at home if you're a freqeunt DSLR user. having a viewfinder also helps out, but you've got to learn to work it. That said.. it'd take the X10 over the RX100 any moment. Fuji's are just too much fun.
