Both are good, but I liked the 35mm shots more because the amount of bokeh was better balanced. 🙂 Maybe for wider shots (ie. DRUGS @8:12) the F1.4 makes sense. Great video as always, love you. ☺

@@Iamtongue I think it depends on the situation and personal style. I usually rotate the aperture ring while taking pictures of something, and I rarely prefer the f1.4 versions. 😂

I still don’t know what to buy. The 35 f2 seems to be soft on edges and the 33 seems to be always perfect but the price difference is quite significant Does this difference justify to buy the 33 over the 35 f2 ?

depends on the person. I prefer the f1.4 for low light capabilties and to get some more seperation against the background.

I sold the 35 f2 for the 33 and I do think the 33 is better, but the 35 f2 is a great lens. Great video!

Going to Japan soon and this shoot inspired me so much 😮 I wish I could take photos that looked this good. I am currently deciding between a TTartisanf1.4 ($100 manual) and the xc 35 2 or xf since I’m not sure if WR is worth it 😢on a bit of a budget so I’m just not sure if the AF or WR is worth tbh

If you’re planning to shoot in lots of wet conditions I would say the wr is worth it. But even when I go out during a light drizzle without a WR lens I’m usually smart with my gear. If you like a frame take a shot and if you don’t see anything just put it back in your bag/pocket/pouch. 😊

Fantastic shoot! The 35mm f/2 is actually a great lens for stills, just always got over shadow by the 35mm f/1.4. Too bad the focus breathing is a bit too much for video work.

Loved the vibe of this video, u put a lot of work behind it. For me the 33 has a bit more micro contrast and 3D pop. I actually own both these lenses I take the 33 for my pro wedding/portrait work, and I love using the 35f2 for personal stuff to photography the family and sightseeing.

Do you shoot at 1.4 or you stop it down a bit to get more of the face in focus?

Because I was in a low light environment I was shooting everything at f1.4. But for day time shoots where I do have ample lighting I stop down.

Can you please make a video and talk about the issue of the new samyang 12mm af f2 lens. Concerning the problem with the ibis when used in combination with the x-s10. Because for some reason, the ibis stops working. Fujifilm and samyang are not doing anything to fix this, but maybe if we get enough people talking about it, they will address the problem. How close before this starts to show or is it only at minimum focus distance?

@@jamiesmith5311 From my experience with the 35/f2 it is soft at the MFD and wide open. Stop down to f4 and it is all good again (if you have enough light). And the far corners are muddy almost at all apertures. But this is only critical if you want the absolute best output for landscapes etc.

You show photos taken with either lens to a non photographer and nobody will notice no difference and even paying clients won’t notice any difference but to an experienced photographer they will instantly pick out the exceptional characteristics of the 1.4 lens , focusing is around 25% faster as is the bokeh and colour rendering better on the new 1.4 lens as the f2 gives a more flatter image
