I am thinking about getting this lens for a 26mp body, but between you, Christopher Frost, Dustin Abbot and Ian Worth, I've got 4 different inputs on build and image quality of this lens that I am really put off... is there such a big variance between copies?

I really love this lens, it is one of my all-time favourites but I too found myself not wanting to carry it on my person. I have found a solution however if you get the Peak Design Slide strap and use the bottom tripod mount that they give you to attach the lugs to the base plate area of your camera instead of the normal camera lugs. This then lets you comfortably hang the camera with this lens against your body and you barely feel the weight and you can move much more comfortably. I've been able to walk around all day with the lens without pain or issue. It has the added advantage of the straps not being in the way of your hands when using the camera.

That sounds like a fantastic solution for carrying your lens comfortably. The Peak Design Slide strap seems to be a great choice for distributing weight more evenly and enhancing comfort, especially for long periods. It's also a clever idea to attach the strap to the tripod mount to keep it out of the way of your hands. Thanks for sharing this tip! It might be really helpful for other viewers who face similar issues with carrying heavier lenses.

It sounds like you have a solid setup with the XT3, XT4, and soon the XH2, along with the Fuji 55-200mm and the Canon lens. Switching to the Fuji 50-140mm could offer benefits, especially in terms of image quality and integration with your Fuji bodies. However, consider the weight and handling for your equestrian photography. As for a new version of the lens, it's always possible with Fuji, but there's no confirmed news yet. If you're not in a rush, you might wait to see if any new releases are announced, which could also lower the prices of current models. 📷

Great review. I’m now thinking of getting this lens. Re focus. Did you know you can change settings in the camera body to LINEAR?

Great review. I have this lens and agree with everything you've said. I too am not putting down coin for the non internal zooming 16-55/2.8 for the same reason (I chose a Fringer III and Sigma 18-35 as a substitute). Excellent work, subbed!

@@FlatLanderOptical Yes indeed, however for APS-C I'd need wider than 24mm but for FFers that is a great range, I think I could do an entire wedding on just that lens. I really feel like APS-C should be more competitive, in theory we could have the same but SMALLER and LIGHTER by not having to cover the larger sensor... sigh...

whats the issue with the 16-55? whats so bad about external zoom?
@jessejayphotography
@jessejayphotography 6 ай бұрын
Fuji has the most internal zooms of any brand(?). These are all internal: 18-120 f/4 PZ, the new kit lens 16-50 f/2.8-4.8, 8-16mm f/2.8, the updated 10-24 f/4, and the 50-140 f/2.8. Some of them require a screw on protective filter to complete the sealed internal design. I would love a standard f/2.8 zoom with an all internal zoom to complete the f/2.8 internal trifecta.

Also the 150-600 is an internal zoom lens

Bro get that 16-55mm it’s a top notch lens. Thinking about getting this one so I’m covered 16-140mm pretty much 2.8 all the way through. 🥴

Hoy he visto en rumores de Fuji que Sigma sacara un 50-140mm f2,8 y otros objetivos mas, igualmente hace Tamrron y ya veremos que diferencias tenemos

That's exciting news about Sigma potentially releasing a 50-140mm f2.8 lens, along with other new options! It'll be interesting to compare these with Tamron's offerings. The differences in image quality, build, and performance can really influence a photographer's choice. Keep an eye out for further updates and reviews to see how they stack up! 📸🔍✨

@@aeonbreak4728 For me it’s just a preference. I prefer how they feel and react in hand when making adjustments. It has nothing to do with taking photos; just a preference for how the tool feels in hand.
