This changes how Dimitri’s story goes entirely, instead of someone who was forced to experiment on his fellow mutants to preserve himself but cracked when he saw how sad KT was, he is someone who willingly experimented on his fellow mutants and only stopped when he learned he was soon to be replaced.

Well i'd phrase that differently, the story didn't change, we just deepend the understanding of the character. I mean we are talking about a world where mutants are being forcefully experimented on and are taken away in nearly all cases where mutation is severe enough to be noticable. His options are either to be experimented on or to be the one on the other side of the glass, pretty limited options, eh? Is he a coward for taking the option? Not really, at least not in the sense that matters, but he certainly lacks courage. Is he a bastard for choosing that and singing himself into lulaby of selfjustification? Not really, that's something i'd expect from pretty much anyone in that situation, people are just like that - they don't like feeling anguish and guilt. He is neother good or evil, he is average, in every sense of the word other than his powers(which is actually a good contrast with "The looser").

​​@@ShonicheckI completely agree, but also I think it's important to note that his character arc seems to be leading him towards at least trying to be a better person, he helps KT escape, tries to convince her to lay low and after she refuses and he sees what he thought was KT in trouble (I think this boy needs glasses but that's not important here lol) he immediately jumps in to try and save her. I think that confirmation that the institute really does see him as expendable was his wake-up call. Also you gotta give the kid a bit of a break he's just 15 years old and he's already lived through so much brainwashing and trauma Then there's Like A Dog, which I think Dr. Temnova is wrong but also I don't hecking know what Ferry could be planning and also apparently the new video is being posted later today so (⁠・⁠o⁠・⁠)

Katya just happened to be the experiment before he was supposed to be disposed off, so seeing the lesser experiment getting caught in the mess, Dima seemed to decide to take her with him in the end But didn't care about her enough to stick with her all the way as we see from other songs

i might be overthinking but i really love that detail because to me it suggests before he was only looking at his small life, trapped and he never thought about a way to break through,, basically being close minded. but then he broke through everything, including the rules the video follows itself. notice after he breaks the bars the colours change. before it was dull colours and occasionally very bright colours, used to show panic. then, it turned into a mix of lights, darks, dulls, and whites. ofc it stuck to the original colours but it also switched something in the colour pallete.

I think it's him being kind of in a haze after Katya calling him a coward for not wanting to live life to the fullest without fear. It's possible she didn't call him a coward and that was his interpretation of what she said when the parted ways since Katya is a cinnamon roll. Either way it seems like that shook him up a bit, so when he saw someone in trouble he was like "fine I won't be hesitant anymore" and saved Anya. Very fragile headspace from his worldview being broken and that whole existential crisis y'know. At least that's my interpretation of it!

This is just three minutes and a half of Dima having a mental breakdown, and IT'S AMAZING! Even ignoring the incredible animation, I mean, just Dima's character is so good - the carefully constructed superiority complex, the ultra utilitary view, the sheer wrongness in turning a victim against his peers for their personal gain, it's no wonder that when Dima breaks, he breaks so hard, he was set up to fail from the start and he just hates everyone for it. KT starting as collateral damage and becoming someone Dima wants to actually save because of his growing empathy (and also to alliviate his own guilt over his mistakes, like Yura) is just *chef's kiss*. I also love how it was hinted in KT's song that she knows exactly what his role is - "being used is really uncool", I think it was something like that, and because KT is such a sweet bean (and tends to make light of what happened in that hellhole of a facility for her own sanity) she doesn't spend time resenting Dima for it, at least until she's captured. Also Yura's plan being set up to be a complete disaster just from the parellels with scientist lady is KILLING ME. Can these kids have a break one day?? Ferry you evil genius.

"i'm not one to see people as means to meet an end, but some ventures require a sacrificial lamb", after all. I don't think Dima would take lightly to being controlled again... But who knows where this series is going? Also, scientist lady... I have NO idea if she's gonna appear again, she might have been fired for letting Dima go beserk, but hey. It WOULD be fun to see someone that crazy again.

@@saphireeyes Thing is though, we don't know if Dima meeting Anya has altered the plans of Temnova. It's the wildcard that I don't think Temnova was expecting to happen. Obviously this is me taking stuff from the newest song that was released because she expects the world to be cruel to him when instead he meets 2 people who take him in and protect him. Also, are we sure the Yura is going to try and rescue KT? I thought he was going to try and get Olya out? or that could be me misinterpreting. It's one of those things where due to Olya and Anya Dima has found happiness and safety. But there is also the line in punch it punk about Anya and Dima doing great things but Anya not knowing what that'll entail when she says it in the song. So I am worried but I don't think that Dima is going to go down the path Temnova thinks he will.

Okay another thing I noticed that I absolutely love is that throughout the beginning of the song the lyrics of Dima's thoughts are frequently broken up by interjections by Temnova. Like he has not time to think for himself and every thought he has is coached and reinforced or replaced by what the doctor wants him to think. Just a really well done aspect!

Also yeah, I say the scientist is Dima's first "friend", because she probably only saved him for project. Which would make the situation even more ironic if Yura, who cares/likes Sanya comes to sacrifice her searching for excuses to justify himself, while the scientist is perfectly honest, in her selfish intent by saving someone she doesn't truly "cares" about in the human sense.

Right after Dima breaks the wall, he is illustrated as a black silhouette with glowing white eyes. This looks really cool. But he also appears like this in Occam's Razor. In Occam's Razor, he is illustrated normally until Yura begins threatening with his trash spike. Then he is portrayed as the silhouette for two panels, before he realizes Yura was joking. Given the context of seeing Dima like this as he's busting out of the facility, it can be assumed that Dima is a silhouette during, or immediately before, doing something drastic. Occam's Razor takes place a month after PAFL, but Anya discovered Dima is a mutant about two weeks after, during Punch It, Punk!. Which is to say, at that point Anya knew what Dima was capable of, and had calmed him down (There is a panel showing Anya grabbing Dima's hand) before he fucked Yura's shit up.

@@alexandrelessard7168 Basically he was always going to go rogue. The doctor you see in the video, who was Dima's closest "friend", actively made him flee to prevent his death after KT's experiment. And since KT was with him, and maybe he felt like she was less than him and needed saving, he took her with him. She was simply a causality of his desire to rebel but nothing more, which is probably why, he could go on with his life without being too depressed about losing her, unlike Yura.

Well I'm not sure if he tried to save Anya because she looked like K.T, but if that's the case, well despite everything I've said about him, he still is just a kid who grew up in an awful environment. It's also probably why, he's not considered a "trash husbando" on Ferry's tumblr (Unlike Yura and Nikita who get roasted all the time), because he can still grow as a person and learn from his mistakes. The point was that, due to "Punch it Punk!" at the time, many thought Dmitri/Dima, was going to be a cinnamon roll, innocent boy who simply did what was right and had cool powers. This impression was reinforced in "K.T's guide to coolness." even if he seemed a bit stubborn and paranoid. Except Ferry quickly shot down this image of him, so this song kinda serves as the proof Ferry teased for a long time, that Dima is indeed not a good person. More accurately, he can grow and betters himself, but that won't erase what he was and did at the facility.

This is so cool! Your art and animation always astounds me, and your lyrics fit so well with the concepts you create! It’s so interesting to get a closer look into the lab experiments and Dmitri’s views on them. For some reason I never expected him to think himself ‘better’ or above the other lab kids (maybe because of his lost puppy demeanour in Punch it, Punk!) but it makes so much sense! And knowing that KT was just at the right place, right time to escape explains why the pair split up so quickly. It was never about Katya - Dmitri just didn’t want to die, and she got caught up in it. Oh, and I really like this Doctor lady (i forgot her name lol) she’s super interesting! she cares about DT in a clinical sense, but they seem to be on good terms, and she doesn’t take him being terminated lying down. Her eyes are super unsettling too 10/10, i’m definitely rewatching this 100x!

For a while I assumed the first verse in KT's Guide was sung my Dmitry due to the lower pitch. The impression I had was "routine check" were experiments regularly performed on her, it was fear/hatred on her face, and the her heart collapsing being metaphorical from the pain she goes through during them. It seemed to make more sense that Dmitry would be the one to pity her, but the reality was flipped. Looking back, I didn't even register the cut of Dmitry bloody at the start of KT's song.

Автору отлично получается совмещать анимацию с музыкой, и все на высоком уровне. Просто вау. Надеюсь вас там команда, а не один чел, но если один то это прям очень круто, я прям завидую даже. А так при правильной рекламе мне кажется легко можно выйти в массы (лям просмотров и более я имею в виду), просто надо на российском сегменте интернета распростроняться активнее. I love the song, but even more so I love the video. First, I love Ferry's artstyle, but the video's color scheme is what takes the cake here for me. It gives me heavy propaganda vibes, i.e The vibrant yet unrealistic colors show that Dima's reality is faked in an attempt get him to comply. However once he realizes the truth the color becomes realistic to show he's finally seeing thing how they are. But then there's the little frame where it goes back to the unrealistic colors with the doctor smiling, which shows that Dima is still acting out the whims of other people. So good!

It's got a sound that sets it apart from your other songs while still definitely being a Ferry song, and the vocals are very, very well done. I love it. This is an extremely belated comment, but Ferry I love love love how you use implicit storytelling in your lyrics as opposed to just straight up telling us what's happening. It feels like you have a really good understanding of your medium, making the audience infer what's going on based on lyrics and visuals in a way that very naturally feels like it's coming from the character's/s' POV. not to mention the quality of the music and art on their own!! you've gotten really masterful at what you do over the years i think :)

IM BACK AGAIN ARGHHH THIS SONG IS SO GOOD. now here's some rambling on how much i adore this song and mv: the art AND ANIMATION? they're awesome and honestly 1000% worth the wait!!! the art is always incredible but i feel like this song has the best art and mv, now obviously it can be just from impovement over time but regardless, this mv is absolutely stunning!! not to mention how awesome all the mutant submissions look!! the animation near the end of the video drives me absolutely insane (/pos) it looks so cool and smooth, like!!! i get to see my boy and katya!!! move!!! wadda hell!!! my camera roll is already infested with recorded clips and screenshots of this video it's genuinely so good and by far my favourite mv for pafl ^O^ the song itself sounds amazing too, it scratches my brain so well!! it's also really nice hearing fukase in a pafl song !!!! his voice works so well with it and the lyrics are so cool sounding, i can't wait to memorize them all.... the instrumental sounds sm fun as well its got such a funky beat to it and of course, it has ferry's incredible style to it; it's sounds so unique and not once has it failed to blow me away. i really love the way the whole song sounds sm!!!! overall everything about this is just top tier from the song to the art and animation. now, have i wasted almost half an hour of classtime rewatching and taking screenshots and recordings of every part of this AND writing this comment? yes. but it's a worthy sacrifice. classtime will be my sacrificial lamb to ferry. once again, this is really a stunning piece!! thank you for the food

A detail I really like about the song is the border. While for the majority of it the sides are black, when he breaks out of the lab, the border breaks too, allowing the full screen to be seen. It really helps push the idea that he is breaking free, along with the vivid colors that are swapped to during that scene. Great work Ferry!
