@@kyushulive Indeed, I'm looking forward to your next streams while enjoying your other videos. it was heartwarming to see a place that for a while was a home away from home which I fell in love with. I Seeing your stream has me seriously considering going back to Japan, something I not seriously considered until finding your channel and other J-vloggers and streamers.

@@jackoneil3933 I moved back to Canada for a year a long time ago - but then returned here. Japan isn't for everyone - but if ticks off enough of the boxes, then, sure - especially Fukuoka - the living is particularly good, and getting better / more convenient.

Seems the government will begin to gradually re-open overseas tourism as soon as next month - so it might not be too long!

The yatai we visit at kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnuanXuEndp_Z5o is very traditional. But yes - I get your point,,, next time we will focus on more traditional style yatai. Thanks for your feedback.

This is one walk that I had hoped to see live. There were a lot of great exchanges in this one, and a surprising diversity of food. Never in a thousand years would I have expected to find "grilled cheese and mashed potatoes" on a yatai menu! Although from the low price and name in Japanese, I get the feeling the cheese is a mashed potato topping, not a sandwich.

Yatai continue to evolve and diversify. I hope that trend continues - but I'm also not so sure about "grilled cheese and mashed potatoes" ;-)

Exactly… we thought so too. And as mentioned, he’s run that yatai for 30 years! I’m looking forward to going back there for a meal and chat.

Just found out about your channel somehow, looking forward to more livestreams! Would you say it’s common for locals in Fukuoka to go to Yatai? I’ve heard that it’s a touristy thing but maybe that’s just the ones near canal city you went to at the end? Or do locals not really go to them at all
@kyushulive2 жыл бұрын
Great to hear! Welcome to Kyushu Live. Yatai have pivoted more to tourists,,, visitors from other parts of Japan - and overseas (pre pandemic). I can't explain why,,, but that is the case. The yatai near Canal City are the most touristy. Nevertheless, you still can meet locals at them - and its a great way to interact with locals.

@@kyushulive Ahh gotcha, yeah since I'm considering Fukuoka as a place to live I'm mostly interested in meeting locals. Are there any videos you've done or parts of town I should check out for that? Cheers!

@@stevengold We've vovered many areas in Fukuoka City, not not focusing on "places to live" - but,,,, here's one on the Ropponmatsu area - which I can recommend >> kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpCwZJWZjLeSgM0
