Let’s not forget count dooku he was many things. But in truth he was the true hero. He wanted qui gon and obi to join him and help with stop lord sidious. He told qui hon way in advance who he was really and how he was playing both sides that he planned on destroying the Jedi. I’m he taught qui gon to question everything which is why qui hon was a bit of an outcast to the other Jedi masters as he questioned every action and believed that there was always another way. After count dooku talked to him sidious caught on to what was going on and sent darth maul to kill him and he did which stopped the whole plan as obi didn’t know count dooku like qui gon did but even so dooku tried convincing him and anakin to help him. They didn’t which lead to the events we know. If they did help stop sidious dolly’s version of the galaxy was completely different and honestly would of been 100% better than if sidious won and there would of been legitimate peace. Count dooku wasn’t a true sith. If you want proof, look at his eyes, he never had sith eyes because he never excepted the dark side like most people did. He questioned it and questioned the Jedi and refused to fall prey to either side. He stood to his morals till his death. He was a true hero that never got his chance to shine.

@@haruhirogrimgar6047 No, but they could have got to Anakin in his pivotal final moments before Mustafar. I think the one person that could *maybe* have prevented Anakin's full descent into Vader at that point would have been Ahsoka. Obi Wan had lost his trust, and Padme was the focal point for all his passion and fear of loss. Ahsoka was the one true friend he had left, and her having left the Order while sticking to her moral principles could have served as an example to him of how he could find balance in himself. In a way, the master-apprentice roles would be reversed - she would teach *him* how to find his path between dark and light. I love everything about The Siege of Mandalore. I love Maul’s character arc and Sam Witwer’s incredible delivery of every line. It’s incredible how Darth Maul went from a one-off villain in TPM to something of an anti-hero. He knew what was coming and definitely did everything in the name of his own survival and to get revenge on Sidious, but had Maul’s plan worked, many lives would have been saved. I love the completion of Ahsoka’s character arc. She finally grows up and is willing to put faith in herself, not necessarily in the Jedi. In my opinion, this is where Ahsoka becomes a Master. It’s also incredible to think that Ahsoka is one of only 3 Jedi to defeat a Sith Lord in single combat, Obi-Wan having beaten Maul in Phantom Menace and Anakin killing Dooku in ROTS. I love the dialogue. Every line has weight and story behind it. You can feel Maul’s desperation, how badly he needs allies and how afraid he is of the future. You can feel Ahsoka’s disgust when he says Anakin will fall to the Dark Side. Even Ahsoka’s quippy lines are things she picked up from Obi-Wan and Anakin, but while they might be their words, the way Ahsoka delivers them is unique to her character. She speaks carrying more experience than at any point previously in this show and it makes a world of difference. I love the Lightsaber fights. The animation is incredible. This is maybe the finest lightsaber battle in Star Wars: no unnecessary spins or aiming for the blades, no environmental hazards, just two duelists fighting with every ounce of skill and strength they have. Also, shout out to the animators for when Maul ignites his double-saber. It’s a clear reference to the moment he ignited the double-saber for the first time in TPM. Also, kudos for animating sparks on the floor when Ahsoka was doing her backhand spring and her Lightsabers hit the ground. I love the music. This sounds like Star Wars music: strong, horn heavy instrumental music. The choice to juxtapose the very triumphant music to showcase how Ahsoka feels accomplished meanwhile we all feel the tension in each scene because we know how this ends. If you had told me 5 months ago that I would say that The Clone Wars is the best Star Wars has ever been, I would have laughed in your face. But now… the last two seasons of Clone Wars just hit perfectly. They didn’t miss a single beat. It is Star Wars at it’s absolute best.

Execpt Mauls plan wouldn't have saved many lives. It would have only delayed the inevitable because being a Sith at heart after he takes Sidious place he may or may not want to stop order 66. He's not really an anti-hero, he's still a villian but not the ultimate villian like Palpatine is. So his plan would still involve the death of the jedi. He'd still want to kill Obi-Wan. The Jedi council would most definitely tried to take him prisoner again. He'd still want the jedi purge to happen with or without the Clones. And he would still cause chaos and destruction in his own way. He just knows the Sidious's plan is wipe all of his enemies out- including Maul along with the Jedi

@@colbywidener7092 If Maul succeeded then it would have changed the entire trajectory of Star Wars. The defining moment of the entire series was when Anakin joined Sidious; this plot point was the most important prophecy in the entire series. If Maul + Ashoka killed Sidious (which I seriously doubt), then Anakin would not have been lured to the dark side. Even if Anakin somehow got pushed over to the dark side, then he wouldn't have had a Sith lord as his master and he would have been FARRR weaker than his iteration of Darth Vader. If Anakin never became Darth Vader, then there would have never been balance to the force. As for Maul replacing Insidious, that is impossible. Sidious was a well-known and life-long politician who was able to mislead everyone (including the jedi), because of his superior guile and mastery of the force. Maul did not possess such guile, and even if he did, then he would never have been able to orchestrate order 66 since he would not have been able to seize control of the clones from under the jedi. The moment that Sidious would have died 9 (again, I doubt that Maul and Asoka could have killed him), the blight that Sidious placed obscuring the Jedi's communion with the force would have went away, and the Jedi would have realized that the clones were irrevocably compromised. BTW, an anti-hero IS a villain. People misconstrue what an anti-hero is, because they can't differentiate between a protagonist with non-standard moral values versus the modern interpretation of a hero, which is a good guy. Maul is a tragic hero in the truest Greek sense, since he undergoes significant change (satisfying the criteria for a Greek hero), but he is tragic in that he is unable to fulfil his goals due to his character flaws.

From Starkiller to Darth Maul he was always giving it his all, you can really hear the desesperation and horror in those screams, in any other scenario this would be just a crazy Sith, but here? With the knowledge we have about what's about to go down? The entire scene makes Maul look more heroic than he otherwise would look, it was the last chance the galaxy had to save itself, and as soon as Maul lost that fight and got captured any hope for the galaxy to not fall into darkness vanished completely, and he knew this, he wanted to die before things went down and finally be free.

The apprentice of the Chosen One v.s. The killer of his master's master. 3. Felt balanced. It felt like the fight was fairly even with Maul being stronger and faster, but Ahsoka being quicker and smarter. 4. Well paced. The duel didn't feel too fast or too slow. That was a diss! She said that he should be glad that Anakin didn't come himself because the way he was fighting, he wouldn't last very long at all against him. That's something I never understood that in the entire Rebels and Clone wars franchise, Anakin/Vader and Maul never got to fight. That would have been an interesting battle. But maybe it can still be explored. Kenobi finally kills Maul for good about 3-4 BBY, about 6 years after the Obi Wan Kenobi series when Luke and Ezra (both born in 19 bby) were 15 or 16 or so. There is still a 5-6 year period between Obi Wan Kenobi and Rebels, Perhaps Vader and Maul clashed before Maul was the leader of the Crimson Dawn syndicate, with Maul barely escaping, but completely giving up trying to kill vader and deciding to rule over lower-hanging fruit. Which is why when he meets Ezra and the others, he says, "I cannot beat Vader alone." having already barely escaping him before. Disney, I hope you are reading this and taking notes. haha :)

This was the moment that the two most developed hero and villain in the show finally met in combat. This came together through jaw-dropping choreography, beautiful dialogue, and an overwhelming amount of tension. Everything came full circle in this duel- we know Ahsoka was right not to trust Maul, but her feelings toward Anakin blinded her. Maul never lied in this series, and they so beautifully integrated his strong reliance on the force to become a prophetic persona. The screams of terror at the end just had my jaw on the floor- we all know what’s going to happen, but they don’t. He is so horrified by what the outcome is that he is begging A JEDI to not only kill him, but listen to him to save themselves! You really walked away from that like, “holy shit, this is all about to happen.” For those not born in 2005 or before, this and the final two episodes were just a gift to the world that couldn’t experience ROTS in theaters. @@IamCanadian3333 arrogance and overconfidence are off the table. We can't just take whatever the writers said so seriously. We have to look at previous experience with other firm of media and past episodes because the action is done. Ahsoka won and now they can say whatever excuse they want because it already happened. Maul had always been arrogant and overconfident but that shouldn't mean he sucks at fighting all the sudden. There's a really good video on it by a buddy of mine I'll send a link in a different comment. But in case you don't have like an hour and a half I'll shorten it down a bit. He is an experienced fencer and he uses that as an example. There is a letter rating system I'm the USA that goes from a to e. A is the highest rated and best fencers. He is a level b fencer and uses a style weak to hyper aggressive type fencers so if he was being rushed by another a or b fencer he would probably lose. And if he were to fight an aggressive c type fencer he would most likely win but wouldn't be surprised if he lost. But if he were to fight a D level fencer the he wouldn't be worried. Because there is such a gap in the skill level between B and D level fencers. He even fought such a fight and won in a short time scape. Hopefully you can see where i- or technically he was going with this. He also explains how with close levels or ratings advantages and disadvantages matter a lot more than with further levels and they should look to style. But by going off of that then we would be saying ahsoka would be equal to Anakin and obi wan which just isn't true. The gap between ahsoka and mauls power is just too much for ahsoka to win by reasons such as overconfidence and arrogance. The writers are just using whatever excuse they can to justify ahsoka's win. But they can't because it just shouldn't be possible. Of course you are missing a lot of context and I recommend watching his video

@@seekingabsolution1907 Not a chance. Ahsoka was intentionally written to be unlikeable at the beginning. Dave Filoni had a very specific character in mind, and wrote her with flaws he knew would make the audience dislike her. Over the course of about four episodes, he adjusted those flaws to demonstrate some character growth and endear her to the audience. There is a great character analysis that shows what he did and how he went about it, and the psychology of why it was so successful. Rey was written as a power fantasy as part of a political agenda. She's barely even a character. And, as a result, we'll see Ahsoka return again and again(like she did in Rebels and The Mandalorian) due to fan demand, whereas Rey will be consigned to the Disney dumpster fire and never be seen again.

This just shows that maul has no intend in killing Ahsoka. He was dominating the fight almost all the time yet he wasn’t going for killing moves and breaking points.

ngl, the bit where he elbows her in the face and she just recovers is ridiculous, I have been punched in the face and while I was so hyped on rage at the time that I viewed it as a minor detail, it definitely hurt afterwards and that was just by a schoolyard bully, here we have a highly trained martial artist, elbowing, so the force is concentrated on a much smaller area, someone who is not allowed to fight using unbridled fury, right in the face, she should at least have a blood nose after that blow if not a broken one and even if that is not allowed for rating reasons she should still be in a lot more pain.

the switch from animation only to motion capture in the fight scenes in the last season was genius

3:46 always stands out to me - it looks like a two sided saber variant of form 3. Maximum defense, extremely tight blade work, extremely fluid motion, essentially the opposite of mauls preferred form - strong abrasive powerful strikes, like a hammer almost. Mauls biggest rival had to be obiwan, considered to be the greatest form 3 user, and maul has been shown using it in the last like against palpatine. I always liked the idea that maul studied form three specifically to better combat obiwan, but in the process discovered the benefits to a defensive form
