@@DazzyOutdoors I just whip stitched an old wool blanket along the bottom & up the side about two thirds & turned it inside out to make a simple sleeping bag, it worked well, but the winter bag is out now along with an extra sleeping mat.

Thanks for sharing. I got the Therm-A-Rest NeoAir Venture, it’s nearly as light and packable as their much more expensive ones but much cheaper. Comfortable, comes in green which is nice. Only downside is R value of only 2.2. Would recommend.

You've given me a couple of ideas for kit Daz. Little tip; always have a small cuts kit on your person. You'll not struggle to locate the plasters then lol, if you wander from camp with your cutting tools. In winter, I'd always have a little extra dry clothing, just in case you get a soaking.. You can regard your baselayer for night as part of that, so, a down jacket for emergencies would complete the top half. Great video as always. Enjoyed it.

It's interesting to see your evolution of gears. I've started to watch your channel because you put more on the "spirit" side then the gears. Obviously we are all somehow gear addicts (many not all but just me). You've evolve to more main stream gears, which is fine because they could be mainstream for a good reason. As long as you keep that initial spirit you may want to try out any gears. Take care of your self with sharp tools ;)

Agawa also makes a dandy foldable bucksaw you may want to look into incorperating into your kit. I own both the Silky and the Agawa,i prefer the Agawa all day long. Everyone's different but i've found the Agawa can process firewood much quicker and larger pieces (which burn longer). Beautiful axe,can't beat a Gransfors !

the beginning of this video had me uncomfortable hahahaha. I would recommend having a smaller, secondary med pouch molle'd to the outside of your pack. I'm in the states, but I found good luck with the "OneTigris IFAK Molle Pouch". If I pull hard enough, the way it's designed is that the whole front flap pulls away, so for minor to moderate scratches and injuries, it really gives me peace of mind. Great video. Cheers!

Well done on the production and good call on the loadout items. Down round zero degrees even with a four season bag I think people would be really appreciating that wool blanket. Also recommend a head torch of some sort.

You can take the extra bevel off the Garberg incase you didn’t know. I rather the Garberg than a companion, Just my opinion. Secondary bevel makes the edge stronger as well.

Just speaking as a Student Paramedic/Bushcraft Enthusiast, if you're working with axes I highly recommend picking up an on-brand CAT Torniquet, it'll set you back about £26 or so, but they're dead easy to attach onto MOLLE/PALS, I've got mine on my left shoulder strap, and if you were to totally fuck up your leg with the axe it can pretty easily become a matter of die without it or live if you have one. I must say though mate I've watched youtubers with twenty times your subscribers who aren't even half as engaging, really think you deserve more attention for your content...

Great vid. will have to check out that zippo handwarmer, the electric one i've got is total crap! have a look at wrapping some paracord on the axe handle just under the head, like you had on the shovel, will help protect the wood when you have miss strikes.

I really like the kit, the saw and axe are on my to buy list, a good trade out for your kit would be to get rid of your ground sheet and have a poncho, it's a second shelter, it's a ground sheet, but also it's going to keep you dry on the way to camp. And best of all it will keep your gear dry. Also a solid recommendation is to take a simple bin bag to keep your blanket ect dry.

I haven’t had the axe and saw for long but they’re already right at the top of my favourite pieces of kit. No doubt you’ll feel the same too when you get them. Good shout with the poncho. I do have an emergency one in the organiser but if I’m expecting I’ll switch that out for a proper one

@@DazzyOutdoors Even those thin ponchos are good, but sometimes a bit fragile. Same here with the Poncho, I love it, when I got it I just thought it was good, but since then I've used it so much and I find myself using it often. Yeah mate, so excited to get a better saw and axe, I've got the Silky pocket boy and it has a broken tip, still works good, but makes a short saw shorter haha. As for the axe, currently using a cheap one from a random DIY shop, it doesn't stay sharp and just not as nice either.

get a foam folding mat, recently bought the thermarest z lite and its a game changer, I use a exped insulated mat and doubled up with the z lite I get the best night's sleep I've had since I started wild camping.there a bit bulky but well worth the slight inconvenience.also if you're thinking of upgrading your tent have a look at the robens starlight 2 tent , the picture it shows on most sites is of old model the new model is much better. its a serious tent and is sold as a tent for the harshest of winter weather.full mesh inner loads of features.£160 unbelievable price for what you get.

I've got loads of tents but robens starlight is the best by far . the only problem is it weighs 2.5kg which is pretty much OEX ,BANSHEE weight it's huge bro, it has washing line ,full material inner,so many ventilation options,160kmph windspeeds,6 pegs that's with guy lines,it's a olive in colour and blends in to environment well.the normal price is £252 but now reduced to£160.fixed corner posts so 5 minutes to set up ,please check it out bro . have a nice day take care bro.

You could have easily lost all of your fingers when your hand was wrapped around the handle with the blade half open, as it could have easily snapped back closed on your fingers as it wasn't fully locked out. I bike-camp with a bike trailer and like to see what other people take out into the bush with them. I have the luxury of a little extra space and weight to be able to bring a tent and a few other items depending on the season, but otherwise, my kit is very close to yours. I have a very small hockey-puck sized collapsible usb chargeable led lantern that I love. I personally like self-inflatable sleeping mats for the R value and ease of use. But then again, I have the extra space. FWIW, I also carry a sub chargeable hand-warmer when the weather is expected to be cold.

about your zippo hand warmer in the sleeping bag; zippo does a pretty decent job keeping that flame in there covered but it is still a flame and has potential to start a fire. Also, keep a ventilation system of some kind (not a lot, just enough) since it burns thus potential for asphyxiation. Nice gear, now go get it dirty and keep up the good work.

A saw will drop a tree much faster and with much less energy than an axe if used correctly. The only reason you'd take the havier more cumbersome axe is versatility which is a fare reason but in the UK (I'm assuming based on the accent) if you get caught with either of them you're in trouble which is so stupid.

Love the thumbnail. That axe and the saw look awesome too. Great color scheme you got goin on there altogether. That big ferro rod throws so many sparks it would be hard to not start a fire. The best striker I've found for it is the bayite striker (it may go by different names but it's basically a small plastic handle with a lanyard hole and a rectangular metal striker). Other things like the back of a knife etc will usually work but not like this does. If you're gonna have an inflatable mat, you should think about picking up some leukotape. It's hella strong and sticky so it can be used to seal a mattress, cover blisters, hold down gauze to the skin, and to do anything you could do with duct tape but stronger and stickier. Thanks man, some useful info here. I’m the same I prefer to use a dedicated striker rather than the back of my knife. I’ll check out those kit recommendations you’ve mentioned. Atb
