Long term you go with Planet for the reliability. I have so many old PE guns that are easily 10 to 15 years each and other than some O rings you swap out from time to time, they run flawlessly. The Shockers also don't hold their values at all. Amps are selling in the 400s online right now in Facebook BSTs. The Era will be in the same boat in a year or more. It's your money but mine goes with reliability and resale all day long.

Doug can’t hide his bias. He should at least try for these vids. He states that the programming on the Era is better, then in the next breath admits to not knowing anything about the 180r programming.

Only thing " mid range " about these guns is price. They easily perform exactly the same as their "higher " end counterparts . These are high end guns, I believe a true " mid range " gun is a Etha 3 and low end would be empire mini.

For the money the 180 is the best gun on the market, you get everything the CS 3 has except tooless grips for $500-600 less . Planet is the undefeated champion

One note on the barrel comparison....the back that is found on the CS3 & LV2 will fit the front on the 180R if you want something more aesthetically pleasing and it has the rubber grip for the thumb over guys. I think PE beat out the new freak. Just my .02.

I’m from pa and that’s where shockers/luxs is from. So this was during 2021…my buddy had a brand new shocker amp and it came with the Oled board failed and wouldn’t turn on. He reach out to them and there was a tech whom always played at the field we went too. He blew him off. I also had issue with my shocker with it constantly leaking after shooting a pod or 2 during a match. We played with guys who worked with the company and they refused to help me fix the issue or event tried. After that I left the shocker in the dust and went with a geo 4 just go with PE. PE has been around consistently without shutting there doors off n on through the years. My second buy would be DSR+. Hell I’d take a axe 2.0 with a redline board over a shocker. I feel for a 500 gun the AXE is a better quality gun than your shocker.

As someone who had empire markers and shocker and planet. I loved my shocker rsx and vanquishs but if i had a problem. Planet techs where at my events and not empire techs and empire had closer corporate location then planet eclipse. So i switched to all planet eclipse markers

I guess the better question would be, value set aside, which one do you guys like better? I honestly believe a lot of these features are a wash or are very similar, but some things that are completely distinguishable is shot quality, feel, ergonomics overall preference. You both really seem to like how the Era shot over the 180r is that “better” shot worth the $100 less

I'm gonna let you know right now. The shockers are harder to work on. Because the o-rings are more trickier than other guns. Like dye in Planet Eclipse, dye has color-coded oring . Pe is pretty much simple. Don't know why but for some reason, shocker's clear oring's are harder to work on. Or find I feel like The Shocker is also more touchy, especially.

Im taking the 180r 10 out of 10 times… my kid says its better than my CS3 and i have to unfortunately agree with him. He was hitting me from the other side of the field. The 180r is a budget CS3.

Who else is hoping the amp drops to $600 now? Exactly how I got my old NXT. Was $700 or more forever, then when it became $600 I pulled the trigger (and still use it today).

I really want to see the era vs the cs3 most likely without a doubt the cs3 will win but I want to see the shot quality difference between the two

Well I am a big fan of Planet Eclipse and their markers. I just bought the Shocker ERA and it's the same model as the one in this video I think they call it white and black or PURE. I freaking love that ERA it's rocks ! It basically has the same trigger as the LUXE IDOL. It's smooth as butter. Plus the 15 inch FREAK XL barrel is on point every time. Not taking anything away from PE ok plus I believe the ETHA3 is better than the 180R. Thanks for the video fellas

Joel saying maintenance is a wash is 100% false. If a 180r breaks, I have the best manual to look at and use to service. Along with parts kit that has exactly every oring labeled. For everyone that is not a master tech the 180r wins maintenance and it’s not even close.

Shockers have always had great manuals. You clearly have never owned one, and I have never owned a PE marker. Which is why I wouldn’t comment one way or another. A mistake you clearly made.

@@roberthguysky9720I can’t even get a pdf of the ERA manual on their website. The manuals for the amp, rsx and xls are available though. As someone interested in the ERA I would like to read it. That’s a bit concerning considering it’s been out for some time now.

I can’t get over how awful the era feels to hold. I heard someone shooting it recently and just thought it was so cool, it sounds amazing, but it felt like I was holding a toothbrush. Utterly stupid ergonomic design, nobody’s hands are shaped like that. Maybe little kids. My etha 3 m is so much more comfortable that I feel like I can play better with that even though I get 5-6 bps max.

And to add to that, it’s not just because of the size of the foregrip. The shape is just bad. There are examples of good foregrips that are small, the nova n3 is the first that comes to mind. My first gun ever, a tippman a5, is more comfortable, and that thing is a $200 5 pound, ear-destroying, paint tenderizer.
