The Taken King DLC, and I've played through Rise of Iron, the Red War, the Curse of Osiris, the Warmind, Forsaken, Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, the Witch Queen, Lightfall and now the Final Shape. I can't say the developers have always made the right choices, but the story has had a good conclusion after 10 years.

They telegraphed it. Every aspect said it was going to happen. From the cracks getting worse to Cayde missing death and longing to go back, wanting his life and death to mean something. To the guardian creed with emphasis on sacrifice and death.

I played soo much of D1, but fell off after the end of base game D2.. played forsaken and witch queen. I think ill get back into Destiny if another sequel comes out, really sad I missed out on the last 2 years

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I thought the ghosts thing was cheap as hell. They spend a week telegraphing that ghost is gonna die just to revive him literally in the same cutscene that he dies in, all so they can explain Cayde not being in the game after the fact. It also kind of shits on Cayde's own character that he doesn't really spend time with Ikora or Zavala but givs us this major speech at the end despite us spending almost no time with him aside from the beginning of Forsaken. He's also not the vanguard for over half the people who played this game back in the day, and he's NOBODY to the people who only have been playing the last few years. Just weird choices all around.

Now that you mention it though, maybe I feel the way I do because I've been here since the ghost was voiced by Peter Dinklage. I imagine I'm a lot like oldhammer fans when new 40k stuff comes out. It was just different when I started.
