Be ready for water crossings. No longer fear ponds, rivers or any shallow body of water from rusting out your gears by allowing your gears to breath above higher water levels by using a rear axle breather kit. This is how you install the breather filter behind the rear tail light on third gen Tacoma. This kit I'm installing her is from ARB, however there are also many DIY and other brands available. The ARB was not too expensive and saved me a lot of time. Some people say this mod is not needed, others say it is a must, I rather just make a $75 investment and not care either way and have complete peace of mind. To me this is a quite simple and for water crossings, possibly the most important mod next to a safer way to intake air by using something like a snorkel. Very nice job on this video. For our crew, the breather is a must have. If you do any water crossings, you will risk locker actuator failures without the breather. I know of 4 guys that have had actuator failures on Tacomas/4Runners. So, yes to breathers!!

How often do you check and replace the filter?

I think your asking about the engine air filter. If I’m in the desert following someone I check it daily and change if needed. I have a spare OEM one I blow out gently. Regularly I have k and n so I can clean and reuse. I need to do this very frequently or my engine will suffer.
