So cool! The concept of a "full dive" VR is inspired by science fiction, where users could fully immerse themselves in a virtual world, experiencing it as if it were real, potentially with full sensory feedback and neural interfaces. . While there is no definitive answer yet, several emerging technologies hold promise for providing sight or enhancing sensory input in ways that could, in the future, enable fully blind individuals to experience a virtual environment. That would mean so much to my sister who is blind and was born with optic nerve hypoplasia. This really touches my heart that maybe one day she will be able to see in the VR world.

The best solution is probably a mix between a BCI and traditional VR systems (headset, smell-generator etc). Because some senses are going to be easier/faster to implement through the BCI, while vision might be harder (and is already soon good enough anyway on a physical VR headset). So I imagine something like neuralink combined with a VR headset.
@violettracey10 ай бұрын

Vision is already getting good enough with physical VR headsets. The rest of the senses should be left to some type of BCI, since vision might be the hardest to do in a BCI. I think we are only 10 years away with this approach.

For me - bringing SAO into reality means much more than what we are capable of right now. To me it’s: A) full immersion controls - being able to control your in game character as if it were your real body down to minute details. And in a video game sense - being able to use skills and abilities as if they were also simply part of you. B) full immersion feel and reactivity Heat, Cold, Pain, touch, immersion. I don’t mean I want the thing to make me feel like I got my head chopped off when I do in game, I just mean that you can feel that “oh shit I just got cut from x location”. And warmth from the sun or the cold wind blowing on your face. C) Near-Pefect Graphics. I wanna be able to barely notice the difference between real life and the game itself. But unfortunately- this is far further off than what we are developing now. I mean it’s basically getting our brain to both control a virtual avatar fully by itself as well as having a virtual world working in sync with our brain to create what’s essentially another world. Not to mention the time it’d take for a game to be developed for such a technology. But it would be truly amazing if that technology did exist. I could get truly lost in another world. (Also getting such amazing tech down to average consumer purchasing price points)
@alaina_plays_games Жыл бұрын
It's definitely coming and over at Renegade Industries we are working on something for it, something of a life simulation game that we're hoping will be able to function as a way for disabled people to be able to work again and earn a wage like everyone else, obviously it will still be a game and will feature many fantasy elements like being able to play as fantasy races, if everything works out as intended it will also be a place where every user will be helping to train the first AI designed to believe it is alive within this world which should act, speak, think and seem like just another player, as well as that we also want to give players full control of the world so while it may begin in a medieval fantasy world it could evolve through players and NPCs inventing and discovering things, the final part would be making time pass a lot faster in the game than in the real world while allowing it to feel like entire lifetimes are passing.

Seeing technology advance at this rate is very interesting, but at the same time.. SOMETHING is prone to go wrong; :p

To be honest i wouldn't be mad at being trapped in a full dive video game like SAO i watched the anime recently and the realization at the thrill and excitement is unbearable, the possibilities are endless, after thinking about it, if you're good at a game like it or you try to live a peaceful life in there it wouldn't be a bad selution to escape your family, 2 years in it seems pretty bad but its time worth spending in my opinion cause you could do so many things thta you couldn't in real life. If SAO actually somehow releases, under another name with the same conecept of being trapped in it i wouldn't say its a bad idea putting on the vr headset.

We could have "full dive vr" but not in the level of sao. Like using a neuralink to intercept and cancel the movement while the headset receives and displays to the user in the headset. That would be possible im 2026 or until neuralink or some other kind advances

What about the Meta Quest 3? That is another step in that direction, I think. Everything I hear about says it is so much better than the Quest 2 in every way. I am getting mine soon. I subscribed to your channel.
