This was very informative Sam. We are starting new kitchen In February and you showed me which can lights to use. The mobile home has only one light and I’m going to put6 or 7 in kitchen and 3 in pantry. We are enlarging pantry and kitchen is 21’ galley style kitchen by 11’7” wide. Being an old retired cabinet and furniture maker, I’m building the cabinets. Great as always and your brother couldn’t keep the smile off his face. He’s one happy man

You can mount that box in between the wall studs for a flush look with the drywall (or whatever you plan to put on the walls inside)
@sam-and-angela
@sam-and-angela 9 ай бұрын
Yes, but you loose any insulation R-value when flush mounting to an exterior wall. Mounting to a backer board was the best solution for this install and always my preferred method when possible.

Also I should have put an entry door awning on mine. I have the same 9 light door and rainwater blowing in on it in less that 5 years rotted the bottom of the door and the door would have been covered by warranty but my painters did not paint all the edges of the door. Amazon had a $49 polycarbonate awning that may be a nice addition too. Cheaper than a storm door.

Sam if you eventually put some solar panels up to be the "off grid" side of the system can you use the generator as the "grid" leg or does it have to be AC from the road
@sam-and-angela
@sam-and-angela 9 ай бұрын
If a generator is feeding power to the main load center (breaker box) to act like incoming grid power, then the transfer box will operate just as shown in this video. :) You can easily switch from off grid to generator.

@sam-and-angela

No labor costs between family. :) All of the electrical components including lights, outlets, and trimmings cost right at $800 at the local hardware store. The BLUETTI unit and Home Integration Kit (transfer switch) are not included in that figure.

@sam-and-angela

I (happily) didn't insulate anything in this building! :) He hired contractors for that and the drywall install/finish work. I doubt they installed rafter vents as the roof of the shed is not vented, but that's an assumption.

Why did you put 200 box on the outside of wall? I😮t would have been better in wall so you can pit up drywall.
@sam-and-angela
@sam-and-angela 9 ай бұрын
Several reasons: allows the wall to be fully insulated, easier to connect the transfer switch box conduit, easier to add in items in the future, allows the conduit to run straight down through floor without hitting the floor joists.
