Your attention to detail is second to non, had a red Coupe with the same engine around 1991, I think it was 5 years old at the time , and the engine bay never looked that good, still have fond memories , great content keep it coming

Thanks Andy! Now is that “would love to own because it’s nice” or “would like to buy it” haha. I want to use the car after the mot for a bit but it will have to be sold to keep the garage project moving…

Been there, done that. Only mine was a proper LHD car, as Germany intended it. That master cylinder doesn't belong there and you know it.

Looking absolutely fantastic, great job! At 2:43, that's the warm up regulator, which basically increase fuel enrichment when the engine requires it, i.e. during the warm up period, and full throttle. The cold start injector is on the inlet manifold near the throttle body, usually with a blue electrical connector, that basically just sprays some extra fuel in when cranking for a short period (longer when cold), to get it started.
@Resto.Nation
@Resto.Nation Жыл бұрын
That’s great thanks for the info! I thought it was a timer to supply fuel to the cold start injector. Nice to know that it adds some fuel under heavy load too!

@@Resto.Nation yes, looks like yours has the vacuum attachment, so if it's working correctly it will provide a richer mixture with lower vacuum (i.e. high load). The thermo time switch, which controls when the cold start valve/injector sprays, is located on the back of the engine block (i.e. bulkhead side). I've got an Alpine White Coupe GT too, mine's a pre-facelift so hopefully see you at a show at some point, be interested to compare them! 👍

@@markf4720 that sounds perfect. If there are any between now and the imminent winter then I would be keen… thanks again for the info.

@@Resto.Nation probably next year now for me, unfortunately mine has a gear selection issue which I trying to sort at the moment. Rebuilding the linkage and replacing clutch cable in the hope that sorts it... Otherwise it's out with the gearbox, replace clutch and bearings! Audis in the park seems an obvious choice for next year, I hope to be there!

@@markf4720 shame your having problems. I hope mine stays issue free. Audi in the park sounds great. If I’ve still got the car then I will go!

Where are you buying the parts? I'm restoring a 1985 Coupe GT. That's not the cold start injector, but rather the warm up regulator. Cold start injector is into the intake manifold.

It would have been good to see how and what you used to paint the parts etc. Same with cleaning. Show some examples please. Great job, looks very nice.

Fair. Which bits would you like to know? The majority was engine enamel back for the block and silver for the other bits. Also some hammerite direct to rust silver spray for brackets etc.

@@Resto.Nation on the engine block for example: how did you clean it? What tools did you use? Did you use a paint brush or spray? What about the hard to reach areas, any tips here?

nice work, but I guess you have very good reason why you did not pull out the engine. Now when it looks so nice these small rusted parts of the frame inside engine bay are bit annoying to me. But maybe I am not best to judge because rust is really something I can not stand :). Nice work! liked it.

Thanks. I just wanted to show what could be achieved without engine removal. I agree with you on the rust on the slam panel… but where do you stop haha!

I swear I saw the part but it's not on your engine. Its fitted above the WUR and you have the casting pattern for it on the engine. Its to give the brakes extra vacuum boost when needed. I can't add a picture.
