Same :( because we are told to for the male gaze. We gotta be conscious of our patterns and live in our truth self for a while and learn to adore our natural states because we are beautifully made whatever way!

This is tough to hear but it’s also because we are self obsessed, not consciously, but due to people judged constantly whether we are good enough or not. Gotta see life as more than ourselves, do things that remind you the world is bigger than my thoughts and the way I look ❤

It is so bizarre - the discussion of 'glorifying fatness,' a discussion I have sadly witnessed on Reddit every time Lizzo comes up- because, as was discussed, WHAT do they think might happen? That a fat person might LIKE themselves? The horror. Or do they think a bunch of 'normal' weighted persons will just start eating more? Which is absurd. It is crushing that in the 21st Century, we have to have debates that are completely illogical. I just love Aubrey and Jameela.

Thank you Aubrey Gordon! 💜 Thank you Jameela! 💜 It is so dangerous to talk about fat being a choice. Because it's my battle it's my challenge it's my curse and when people put choice on it they put judgment on me. I choose to try and be healthy I choose to try and be thinner I choose to love myself although this battle is never ending because of PCOS, ADHD, childhood trauma, poverty, and whatever it is the health industry food and drug administration and GMO people have done to our food and our packaged food. I am doing my lover best and the battle is never ending. To call choice is so dangerous. I know skinny friends 40. I have family members that said oh I miss the days when I can eat whatever I felt like I never had those days. So I have never chosen fat, but it seems that fat has chosen me and I have to live with that. I lost 20 lb then I lost 40 lb and I lost 68 lb finally I lost 172 lb every time I lose weight it has to be more. I have lost so much weight in my lifetime and I am still fat. It is not my choice. If I had a choice it would be a different choice. Instead I just have a battle I faced daily. And I love with Aubrey is doing and everyone here that are trying to fight for the rights of people don't look the way other people want them to look. I'm glad this video is available. 💜

What I will say about the end of the discussion is that in my experience the response to be precise and almost removed from the material is not trauma informed but it is trauma led in that it is a trauma response to have to be factually perfect in proving someone wrong or else they will literally tear you to pieces and leave you in pieces.

We must also talk about adaptive thermogenesis and how it leads to metabolic inefficiency. Thank you both for your honesty, intelligence, and insight. You are helping me, someone who has had a binge eating disorder for 20 years. My blood work looks better now that I'm focused on health and not weight.

Despite my other critical comment, I agree with many points made by you two in this video. Anti-fat hatred is real, crazy diet culture is real. I wish you would have touched more on how these relate to our consumerist marketing society where we are all essentially products marketing ourselves on a market, be it dating, job or friends. There is an unhealthy amount of glorification of beauty and beautiful people and this is directly related to marketing. Our society is all about marketing. In my opinion you should have gone deeper on the causes of this which in my opinion are not just social (which is what you focus on) but also economic and political (and maybe even biological to an extent). Fatphobia and fat hatred is part of a wider problem we face.

14:17 yes it is your choice what you want your body to look like, but no, it is not your choice how it is "regarded". You don't get to control what other people think, you tyrant. People have the right to their own opinions. P. S respect is earned, not automatic.

@@melissam7067 I used to be obese. Are there toxic elements to diet culture? Yes, but that doesn’t mean that healthy intentional weight loss is impossible. Obesity is not healthy. It is a state of constant inflammation, constant extra strain on joints and excess adipose tissue even secretes estrogenic hormones. It was a bitter pill to swallow that tasty, processed food was slowly robbing me of my health but it was reality. Her telling people weight loss is impossible and people can be healthy long-term and be morbidly obese helps no one. Learning proper portion sizes, eating a variety of mostly Whole Foods and a little bit of exercise does wonders for both waist line and health. I’ve also kept the weight off for 1.5 years and have made permanent lifestyle changes so weight regain does not happen.

You are not listening to her message! Others do not have the right to tell her what she needs to do with her body. Assuming that she has no sense of her body and her person is grossly disrespectful! She is inspiring thinking about an issue that ALL need to take a look at!!
