Chompers would be more suited catching alligators down in the swamps.

I ran the numbers based on October 2008 prices for swordfish. At 50,000 lbs of swordfish the spot price for November 8th, which is approximately when they came to port was 5 dollars a pound. That means the trip netted 250K in profit. Even if you were to be generous, it never costs a ship more than 100K to be out at sea for a month and a half. That's being the most generous with fuel bait and other assorted costs. It's usually 25-50K which, in episode 2, was what The chompers guy mentioned as the absolute minimum to be profitable. That means at 5 dollars, they were in the green at 10K pounds of fish. Assuming you go high side, that means that the total profit leftover was 200K. 100K goes to the owner and pays for the bills on the boat. Leaving 100K for the crew. Greenhorns get 3/4 shares and the crew get full shares with the captain getting a double share. No matter how you split it, they should have gotten 5-9K at minimum. With high sides of 16K being entirely normal and reasonable.

How the hell does Captain Douche have such huge operating costs when his boat is so small? I've been around commercial fishing my whole life, and while smaller boats can't hold as much, they're typically cheaper to operate because they don't cost nearly the amount to operate

He sold Big Eye and moved into this large aluminum hull rig. Chomps is a brainlet and for his and the crews sake I hope a larger more capable boat helps absorb the shock of his misjudgments.

if you are far enough out at sea you are allowed to throw paper products such as cardboard overboard. I have commercial fished up in Alaska and that's what everyone does its legal as long as there is no plastic and such in the crap you are throwin over. and that you far enough from land.

Can barely see the bow but land 100 meters away is clear as day, show is so false, fish on ice for 20 to 25 days only good for bait, I caught tuna for 9 years out of Cape Town and 10 days on ice was max.

Was disgusted with Dave's performance after he was electricuted. Walking 100 feet no problem then some time later act like a zombie. Ive been jolted befofe. It hurts and scares the hell outta ya but work went on with a bit more care to safety was all. Sitting like a vegetable pretending you couldnt hear your name being called was a bit much for me.
