I had 2 great uncles and a great aunt named McCoy. They were my Papaw Hatfields half brothers and sister. I was raised in the 60s and 70s in the hollers of West Virginia and Southern Ohio.

The problem with this whole series is that it's set up in advance. . . the things people are going to say and what they're going to do. There is no way that the cameraman just happened to be there when the McCoys were crossing into Hatfield land and the two families interacted. They are following a script, like all reality tv shows.

Nice to meet you! My name is David and my paternal grandmother was a Hatfield, from Matewan, WV area (where I was also raised). I'm 52, and I remember my grandfather (married to my g'mother) had familiarized himself with many of the stories. He and my Father spoke about all of them, including Ephraim (Big Ephe, pronounced like "Leaf"). My grannie, dad, and myself have/had the Hatfield blue eyes and other traits. The place where they hung and shot the 3 McCoy boys was less about 50 yards from my bedroom window. There's a historical marker there. Matewan, WV is across the river from where we grew up.

This is interesting as a human interest story but the fact that Fox News reported this as if it were some sort of real feud and they were still fighting his laughable. Plus they need to tone down there hillbilly accents just a bit. I mean I was raised as a hillbilly, Northern hillbilly out west but still some of the dialogue was hard for even me to follow. There are far better shows about the Hatfield and McCoy's that could have been made instead of this. It would be nice to have a show about, a McCoy or Hatfield getting married together.
