Angela Rayner grilled Oliver Dowden on the cost of living crisis and child poverty.
Ms Rayner started the exchange at PMQs on 12 July pointing out that the last time the deputies stood in at PMQs two weeks running was in 1996.
Inspired by John Prescott’s question back in 1996, she points out that “tens of 1000s of families are facing repossession and homelessness” due to the ‘Tory mortgage bombshell”.

I seem to have missed something. When did Oliver Dowden become Prime Minister. And what happened to Rishi. Has Dowden kidnapped him; has he gone back to Goldman Sachs; is he suffering from terminal depression; has he disappeared to another dimension; or has Dominic You-know-who had to satisfyhis blood lust again. While we're at it, it was rather shocking to see Cruella Braverman in the house. I thought she'd gone awol. But maybe she only turns up, when she hasn't got any awkward questions to answer.

Energy should be Free ! because energy companies are subsidized by government with hard working tax payers money Energy companies are selling tax payers money produced Energy back to the working people at high price ( working people charged twice ), making huge profits at tax payers expense, even though the Energy companies are subsidized using tax payers money, also working tax payers get NO discounts or shares in Energy companies either for giving our tax money to the Energy companies to produce Energy. Taxpayers money are handed to businesses ( £93bn a year - a transfer of more than £3,500 from each household in the UK.) Direct aid, subsidies, tax breaks - the hidden welfare budget we don’t debate The total emerges from the first comprehensive account of what Britons give away to companies in grants, subsidies and tax breaks, published exclusively in the Guardian. Many of the companies receiving the largest public grants over the past few years previously paid little or zero corporation tax, the analysis shows. They include some of the best-known names in Britain, such as Energy companies , Amazon, Rolls Royce, Ford and Nissan. The figures intensify the pressure on the chancellor, just as he puts the finishing touches to his budget. At the heart of Wednesday’s announcement will be his plans to cut £12bn more from the social welfare bill. Yet that sum is less than the £14.5bn given to companies in direct subsidies and grants alone

Jeremy Corbyn was at least understandable Dowden, the faux aristocrat is inexplicable. Corbyn was middle class, the son of a Professional English Electric Engineer, and a Grammar School Maths teachers, a Latin Scholar at Haberdashers Grammar in Newport, Corbybs 2 A grade E levels were about equivalent to Paul McCartneys 2;min A levels in Literature and Art or my mediocre A Bursary Marks in 1974 in NZ 44!History, 42 English 59 Geography, 52 Economics 38 Accountancy ; these are equivalent minimal UE passed on shere intelligence I only had revised enough 4/5 questions in both History and Geography having no interest in the Tudors and Stuart's and 3)Geography questions were essentially intelligence/Comprehension and spatial questions . Nevertheless UK A levels in the late 1960s ( and indeed until Shirley Williams the 1978 Min education) destroyed any rigour and standard in the system . Corbyn was seen as sufficiently Ernest and clean cut for the UK Foreign Service to appoint him to a three year position as a secondary school Grammar position in Kingston, Jamaica as a Geography position He managed 18 months teaching 4 geography strwams in the only school in Jamaica for students who passed the UK 11+ before resigning in anger after the appalling inequality and exploitation of the poor and indeed most people and indeed radicalised by the events in Jamaica and the cohort of other young teachers from the UK This is understandable in 1968-8.@Junior Dowden undoubtedly soehy a decade getting drunk and hirelbwrexjibg Oxford, Cambridge, Chelsea and St Johns Wood Corbyn while stupidly prejudiced against Capitalism and success, would have realised that Lithuania , a a Catholic pimple in Russia and the one portion of the old USSR which has nothing to do with Russia should simply have been given independence in 1989 with the rest of the old discredited Warsaw Pact , Far too much blood and arms have already been expended on Zelenski in awar that was supposed to be over and win in May 2922, Sept 2922, June 2923 according to retired General Pretraeus and the very juniormemberfie Bournemouth Tobias EllwoodmIn British Army General Jackson avoided the reckless anti Russian aggression of NATO Commander Wesley Clark, Pretraeus superior and a UK army with the xalicrw of officers if 23 years bike would have been sensible it to repeat the mistakes of General Kitchener or Churchill 1919!and Feb 1940. , Winston calling for war on Russia to defend Finland Dowden will be calling for the Marines to occupy Scotland next, the logical conclusion of his logic.Ajd actually the Russians are Europeans like the English, vtge Chinese are not and in terms of Zelenski they appear toge Cuban

How long have the Tories been in power ?? change the record ! They've had plenty of time to run the country correctly and time after time they cock it up. I fear for the peasants like myself if they get in again as there isn't much more they can ruin in the country. Where I am from, the North, Tories policies have killed off everything and don't get me started on leveling up.....if they had done their job properly there wouldn't be a need to level up !!!! They shouldn't have gone ahead with their vanity project of HS2 as it's a waste of tax payers money that we could have used for better things IE. schools, health care and road repairs to name a few.

@LWQ15881 so you don't remember the last Labour chancellor leaving a note for the incoming Conservative Chancellor stating "there is no money left" ???? How about the billions upon billions wasted in Iraq by Blair and his cronies? 2 wars based on Blairs lies that Saddam Hussain had WMDs capable of hitting the UK in 15 mins?? But no, of course its the tories fault for not cleaning labour's mess up quicker isn't it? 🤔 This is also why Labour prey on the youth in Britain..... anyone in their late 20's and upwards remembers what a mess they've made of this country. The only positive I can give Labour over the past 30 years or so is (finally) taking Corbyn out of the picture. God only knows how bad it would have been under his 'leadership'

As a single, white, english male with no dependents and just lost my job of 16 years. I can tell you now, us english dont get enough from universal credit £300 per month My cost of living is around £800 per month Yet if i was not born in this country or have several children, or im disabled i would be getting £1500-2000 a month and a hotel to live in These are all accurate payouts as i know people getting this for having children or not being english. Massive issue when this country looks after others more than our own. It says alot

How many kids have Labour invited over in small boats to add to the housing crisis? They left a letter to the incoming tory chancellor stating there "is no money left" then spent the next 12 years blaming the tories and criticising how they fixed labours mess. No answers, no solutions (except borrow and spend, plunging future generations into further debt that can never be repaid), no thought for the honest citizens already struggling, no plans, no courage to make the difficult decisions, no help to the british public, weaken our defences, leave Nato and abandon the Ukrainians. Were just supposed to believe that simply by voting labour, a magic wand will be waved and the country is saved??

What will be the note this government will leave? We broke all Covid rules, we were partying while you buried your loved ones. We made the economy crash causing interest rates to sore , offered no apology plummeting many into financial distress, our leader lied constantly and took no responsibility for those lies. You haven’t stoped the boats but demonised people fleeing conflict and hardship. All in all the president set by this government is that telling lies and thinking honest working people have to just suck up the chaos caused by this government through Brexit will be the cause of significant hardship for generations to come.
