Watch Shark Week with Guy Feiri’s episode. One minute he is a Diveways mask and , during the same dive, he is in an OTS Guardian and then he is back in the Diveways Ffm , this happens several times! Interesting editing

Beware though, if you remove the oro-nasal pocket for your entire face to be seen, you will need to flush the mask frequently in order not to get a hypercapnia hit. That will blow through your air.

@@john_church It's an issue if you have a badly fitted or malfunctioning oro-nasal pocket. The oro-nasal pocket is designed to retain an amount of gas that is so small that the re-inhaled volume once diluted with the new gas coming from the regulator is safe. If you remove the oro-nasal pocket or it is badly fitted / malfunctioning, then this "small airspace" suddenly becomes the entire mask volume which cannot be cycled efficiently and you start building up CO2. In general it is therefore not a problem although there are some indications that a CO2 buildup also occurs on high workload dives (e.g., you shallow breath because of hyperventilation due to exertion).

@@john_church Correct. You need to hit the purge button to dilute the CO2 content in the mask. Hence the problem of just burning through you gas suppplies. You effectively recreating the problem of the old Mk V helmet or the modern Divex AH5 helmet ( www.jfdglobal.com/products/commercial-divers-equipment/helmets-masks-and-scuba/divex-masks-helmets/divex-ah5-free-flow-air-helmet/ ). Thus, unless you have a brilliant better idea, you need to reproduce their solution. These two helmets are "free flow" helmets, that is, they have a constant stream of breathing gas flushing through the helmet to cycle the gas and push any excess CO2 out. That's why they are exclusively used in surface supply diving. Now with your oro-nasal pocket removed, you have to do the same. Either you set your second stage to a constant free flow by adjusting the cracking pressure or you manually hit the purge button frequently to prevent CO2 buildup. I haven't seen the documentary you got the video clip from, but I bet they don't have single take shots of more than a minute of a diver with the mask because as soon as a longer take is over, they will have been purging that mask frantically.

they Don't fog up at all - from what I've seen in other videos - because of the constant air pressure in the mask. It's also pretty much impossible to flood the mask.

I have Neptune III with lights and gopro mounted. I disagree with everything you show in this video. If you use adhesive on your gopro mount sooner or later you will lose your camera. On mine I have original gopro mounting (similar to yours) with adhesive 3m tape AND two stainless steel screws. Original Ocean Reef camera/torch mount is bad aswell. You can't rotate 360 degree your torch. It's also very far from the mask. Get some orca torch D560 mounts , you can rotate them as much as you want, they are very close to the mask and you don't have to mount them on radio ear place. If you wanna mount flashlight on ear piece use gopro 360 rotary mount. Recording inside the mask is also mystery to me.

@@john_church I know that OTS now sells the waterproof housing and modified buddyphone for getting underwater recordings. I want to add it to my Spectrum soon
