I was always a huge Michael dunlop fan but man more and more things i learn about this guy how could anybody ever say he is not the king in every single aspect of the tt.. literally every aspect.. talent..rider.. records..mechanics.. team owner
@matts65519 ай бұрын
Peter Hickman may be currently the fastest around the track, but king of the mountain has always been determined by who has the most wins and unfortunately who is still alive to defend its honor. For years John McGuiness has been celebrated as king of the mountain, but that title belongs to Michael Dunlop now. I hope this year he can add two more wins and become the undisputed king of the mountain, surpassing his Uncle. What a legacy!!!

That’s right! He’s not king because he’s GOD of bikes! He has also what nobody else has on TT’ ! It’s his blood of “dynasty of Dunlops”

@teapotblack16889 ай бұрын
I think bike sales are down because everything's so stupidly unaffordable for the average man, we have family's and rent etc so spending around 20k on a bike is simply daft money.
@pitchforkpeasant62199 ай бұрын
Corporations and the corruption of politicians on “both “ so called sides are killing everything. Taxes are based on percentages of costs of goods and services so they automatically go up in number when costs go up. And the requirements placed on some are choking some industries like cars and motorcycles. Reminds me of 1971 in the US with the sudden epa mandates after 1970, the year with the most horsepower. 1970 Chevelle with 450 horsepower. Big insurance is the biggest in campaign contributions and lobby money and has been for decades. The epa might as well be working for them too
@GT380man9 ай бұрын
I agree. Later in life now, I can afford it. But what I want simply isn’t available: roads teeming with testosterone flooded lads, thrashing the pants of a standard, somewhat more affordable, 250cc bikes. When I started riding in the mid 1970s, you could hardly swing a cat without hitting a lad on a Honda / Yamaha / Suzuki / Kawasaki. Most of them already had their eyes on a 400 or even a bigger bike than that. The end of that happy era of true freedom was almost in sight and we didn’t know it. Thankfully. I am at my freest when I’m out on my bike, enjoying rural East Kent.

wise words "i feel comfortable...lucky to be in the top team..." 🤦 or is it more "in front of me nothing , empty roads..." ? " Sir's " 20.000 what currency ever ...is hard enough plus helmet...plus suits...plus boots...plus tires...etc. you all can be happy to enjoy way's with high-tech ! - good luck '24 ☘️

Out of curiosity, why doesn’t anyone run RSV4’s or V4 Panigale’s?
@GT380man9 ай бұрын
I don’t know. I wonder if they’re such a specialist, high cost, rarified thing before you even consider modifications required to make it a machine well suited to the TT, that nobody goes down that route? And if there isn’t a whole ecosystem of modified parts, people with a whole bible of experience of road racing them, and mechanics & electronics folks that know every millimetre of them, you wouldn’t automatically think of starting from that base? This isn’t a sport of Uber wealthy people. Ok, that’s needed in the bonkers sponsors like Fay Ho and bonkers super fans like Carl Cox (does he also finance a team or perhaps attracts other sponsors? He’s incredibly well-connected, is Carl. He spins for the richest festival event in the world, Burning Man) . But the riders are carved from mostly working class people and families. They’ve never been scions of multimillionaires & billionaires, like F1 has become and, to be fair, it’s been a bit like that forever! Uber wealthy people with children, almost always boys, who want to go racing, pretty much never end up motorcycle road racing. That’s left for your tradesman entries, people who rode bikes on the road for the sheer joy of it, despite it being very dangerous. As many said in this doco, it is just possible to compete out of the back of a van and a tent, with nothing more than a couple of mates and a bike you paid for and maybe got a few hundred thousand in total sponsorship from a list of small sponsors. You’ll not win or even get on the podium, but if you outperform expectations, that’s as good as it gets. That cannot be done in any other motorsport with the global reputation the TT has. A non answer, but you will gather from my blather that I’m a massively respectful fan myself and a lifelong road rider (not racer). My opinion is probably way wide of the mark, too. But it’s worth what you paid for it :)

Privateers are the salt of the sport. I worked for my mate Mike Baldwin in 500 GP 1985 season. Yes the FACTORY 4-cylinder Honda, Yamaha always had more top speed and faster lap times than the private 3-cylinders. But RAIN was an equalizer. That let top privateers finish on the podium. In 1978 Mr Baldwin beat everyone from California to Canada to Loudon, to Imola on his self tuned TZ750D. Privateers do raise to the top at times. 🏆✌️

@@licesI’m surprised that such a thing exists. Honda exclusively makes bikes in Japan. While they’ve been coming to TT since the 1950s, and old man Honda himself, the company founder, was a massive bike fan, it’s not the market for them that once it was. Honda Racing Centre (is that what HRC means?) is in Japan. Maybe Honda U.K., the local subsidiary, is assigned a budget to go racing in the country, doing all the work outwith direct HRC support? I think Japanese bike companies are having a persistently hard time of things in the modern era, because they simply no longer sell highly priced machines in the kinds of quantities that they did when I was a lad in the 1970s. A blend of steadily increasing legislation and also some substantial cultural factors have made the choice to get a bike as your first transport that of fewer & fewer people.
