Honestly surprised Hughes beat Makar. I know Hughes skates effortlessly and smoothly like very few but I didn’t know he had high end speed like that. He did improve from his last fastest skater competition though

They are both so good. It did seem like Makar held back a bit around the corners. Maybe bit wanting to repeat the fall from last year. Still great so sad from both D-Men!

I think Makar is more naturally skilled, but Hughes works so damn hard, he’ll end up the better dman at the end of their careers (assuming both stay healthy)

He's definitely known more for his agility and smoothness but there's a clip of him chasing down Jack on a would be breakaway that makes me laugh every time because he seemingly unlocked another gear just to stop his brother

McDavid clearly hit the cone with his leg/hip on the last turn, and there should have been a penalty of at least .125 for that. It was not a clean run. Barzal was only .111 behind Connor, and he had a clean run.

I take it youve never been in a race before? Cones can be knocked down as long as the person does so while on the inside of the track. At this point youre just reaching now.

What makes the most sense to me is that they're there to determine the route. Players won't skate it them but yes, they might hit them with their stick. Lets say two guys take the same line and get the same time, but one of them keeps his stick too low and hits the cone. Get it?
