Mayweather has the mental discipline of a chess master (also, he anticipated almost everything, it's unreal)..., and that while exchanging punches with a comparable strong guy. He doesn't waste a move. He's precision and body control are amazing.

When I was younger I thought watching a Floyd fight was boring because I always was used to seeing a slugfest, but when I got older and understood boxing more, watching Floyd now is like watching professional artist doing his masterpiece, his defensive ability is the best I’ve ever seen, his timing, accuracy, and ring iq is top notch, Floyd is the true definition of the sweet science of boxing of hitting and not getting hit💪🔥🥊

@brandnew9834
@brandnew9834 3 жыл бұрын
@@browns1218 We need to remember that when this fight took place, Manny Pacquiao was the P4P #1 and Marquez was ranked P4P #2. Mayweather was coming back from retirement, this was his first fight in like 2 years. So Marquez was probably at the height of powers here. He definitely wanted to force another fight with Pacquiao, and he knew Pacquiao couldn’t get away with ducking him if Marquez was #2 . He certainly couldn’t duck Marquez if he were to beat Mayweather. So I think Marquez not only saw this fight as nice PPV payday, but a chance to leverage another big PPV fight with Pacquiao. Marquez is a warrior, he wasn’t planning to lose this fight. Mayweather missed weight by like two pounds and Marquez got an extra $600K for it. I honestly don’t think that an extra two pounds influenced the outcome. I don’t think Marquez was prepared for just just how fast Mayweather really was. He said that in his post fight interview. “He’s too fast”. I think Marquez actually like his chances against a guy who had been retired for a couple years. Floyd just isn’t normal though. No one is that sharpe. You can’t really prepare for it.

It’s a great tribute to Roger Mayweather, and all the great fights he coach Floyd in. Marquez had no answer to Mayweathers jumping left hook.
@FloresRain
@FloresRain 2 жыл бұрын
He did have an answer, you can see he started to hook along with it right after the knock down. After that he tried other varieties of combinations to counter it. The problem was that floyd mixed the low jump hook with the higher jump hook which are totally different and require a different response for the counter puncher. Floyds speed and trickery makes it that much harder to anticipate which one is comming.

@@HolyRollerTV The leaping left hook was set up by the early stab jabs to the body. It’s a level change tactic. Floyd would feint low as if he was going for the stab jab but then come up top with the leaping left hook. You can see Marquez react to the feint by dropping his hands to protect his solar plexus, leaving himself open for the hook upstairs.

Boxers who get hit in the head to much end up with slurred speech. Look at Riddick Bowe, Frank Bruno, Wilfred Benitez, Gerald McClellan, today. Floyd understood the game is to hit and not get hit. That's how he's left the ring with all of his facilities still intact. He did it his way

He walked Marquez down. People say he runs because they want him to give up his best attribute. They want him to throw caution to the wind and forget about defence so his opponents have a chance to ko him. They say they hate defensive fighters and want KOs. Then fast forward to today and we have that fighter. Wilder had no defence, wants to go out on his shield, and is arguably the hardest puncher to ever lace them up. Yet for some reason they have an issue with him

@@theFormidable1 2 pounds over isn't a lot. Floyd had to pay $300,000 for each pound. (It wasn't planned or smart if he did.) Floyd also came in 3 years retired and Marquez wanted the fight. So Marquez had to prepare himself for a retired guy without a tune up fight. (Marquez had the advantage.) Floyd has also fought guys 10 pounds over without penalties for his opponents and he came in at weight.
