I FIGHT BROKE OUT ON ME TOO. THE WHOLE BAR. I was doing an open mic 2 minute bit, maybe my 3rd appearance. I was at THE WHISKEY BEND in Burbank California. A bar maid said there wasn't a fight in 25 years. There were pool balls being thrown. A lady jumped on a guy's back. A gun shot in the parking lot. I didn't say one joke. I just started singing the Annie song "The sun will come out tomorrow". Then during all the melee I pretended to be rocky calling Adrian after the fight. "Adrian " "ADRIAN"! then I got off the stage.

False. Some comedians do call and response as part of their act. Heckling also counts as "yeeeah", "we love you", "you're the best"... and so on... I was the target of a Rich Vos bit because one of his jokes hit our table so hard he became interested in why... like we were all laughing way harder than everyone else... because his joke fit my description and we all immediately embraced it. We weren't giving him shit all night or any other comedians for that matter... it just hit really hard.

That has got to be the smallest stage I have ever seen lol. You have your shoelaces in the crowd's mouths. 😂 P.S: You handled yourself a lot better than I would have. For that, you have my respect for life, brother. There's a special place in hell for hecklers. The fact that people intentionally come to a comedy stand-up performance knowing that they are going to become the most hated audience member but still choose to ruin it for everybody else, blows my effin' mind and is something that I will most likely never understand.

That "heckler," is actually a fairly normal occurence in today's society because of the lack of accountability, identity, and self-respect. We all see it, but many struggle to be assertive because of fear......
@bodhid

Not enough likes for this comment. The problem is firstly the potential 'heckler' could train in MMA, have a weapon, have friends nearby and secondly if you do fight with them and do serious damage in the process you could either be in prison or worse doxed on social media and have your life ruined. Knowing how far to go as you instinctively fight someone is far harder than people realise.

Resources, but this culture of passivity and fear they are trying to foster on us for the past 50 years will render them impotent when they need numbers on their side. Otherwise, no one will hear your crappy, stolen jokes and you'll never headline or get your own special with a catchy title on Hulu. The second rule is, "You have to fight in Comedy Fight Club" and the third rule is, "Don't forget to tip your servers in Comedy Fight Club" because, trust me, they WILL kick your ass.
