In the first room when you shot the window pull, how do you deal with the shadows the flash going through the window frame created on the background? In other words, is there any easier way than just having to retouch those shadows? Happens to me alot, so just curious how you deal with it. Personally, I like to keep the flash unit closer the flash is to the lens, the less this will be an issue.

Thanks for making these videos! Question- I thought that when doing the flambient technique that you had to maintain the same f stop for the ambient and flash exposures. I noticed your ambient was f 8 and flash f 7.1 - doesn’t this introduce some alignment issues in post?
@InsideRealEstatePhotography

The depth of field difference between f/7.1 and f/8 is pretty negligible and I haven’t noticed a problem but you are absolutely right, you should really use the same f stop for both.

Great videos! Very simple and straightforward tutorials. My only question is what lens did you use? I have a Sony a6300 with a Sigma 16mm f1.4 and a Tamron 70-300mm mounted to a Manfrotto Befree tripod and I use the Sony Imaging Edge app for remote shooting since the Sony remote commander you have is not compatible. I don't have a gimbal but thought about buying a phone gimbal for some closeups and using my film head for the tripod to get pan and tilt videos. Anyways, thanks again. Your videos are superb and are really helping me be more comfortable selling my services to potential real estate clients. I'm in Dallas where the market is super hot. We are in tax protest season and I thought about selling my services to homeowners who need photos of damage to lower their home value. If my business grows I'll look into a drone.

On my Sony A7III I also bracket. For my flash shot I used to change to single shot (a pain...). A long time ago I forgot to swap from bracket to single and even though I was still in bracket I turned on my trigger and only one frame was taken. Perfect! Over the last three years I have used the camera for other than real estate shoots and messed with settings and a couple of times the camera went back to firing the bracket with flash on, in which case I had to revert back to the old way but on the next shoot it would go back to single bracket when the flash trigger was turned on. You might want to try it. I'd be curious to know if my camera is an anomaly. My trigger is Flashpoint which is Adorama branded Goddox. I noticed in the video when you turned on your flash trigger the exposure level changed. I have always wondered about that. Sometimes I don't get the expected result when using flash and I wonder if the camera "brain" is changing something.
@InsideRealEstatePhotography
@InsideRealEstatePhotography 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! I’ll have to try that! Yeah, I’ve been using the flashpoint single pin trigger lately and it doesn’t change anything when you turn it on and the result is much better. There definitely is stuff going on with the trigger if it’s not a single pin.
@stephenwarriner387

@@InsideRealEstatePhotography Your video confirmed another thing that bothers me with Sony cameras and that is level is not necessarily level with the Sony level indicator. In the beginning, when you were lining up at the staircase shot and using molding to get the camera level. It was green before and after the adjustment. The Sony range of level is too great. I find that my gear head can be adjusted about a corner turn in either direction on either axis and the level indicator remains "level". I wish Sony would correct that problem in a firmware upgrade. For those of you who are new to RE photography having the camera absolutely level is critical in order for room shot verticals to be straight. The fix is relatively easy in post however, it is at the expense of your image being cropped. The more you are not level, the more the crop when you fix it in post.
@InsideRealEstatePhotography
@InsideRealEstatePhotography 2 жыл бұрын
@@stephenwarriner387 yeah it’s a little annoying but I actually don’t think it’s designed to be pinpoint accurate. It’s been the same for years across multiple Sony cameras that I’ve owned. If they were going to fix it they would’ve by now.

The main benefit of flambient is that the flash frame will provide the most accurate color information. Accurate colors can be more difficult to achieve with just brackets. But yes, you can absolutely achieve great results with brackets.

why not just fix the brightness in editing? is this something clients look for? also should I be charging more? Im no to photography but it is a lot of work.

That first photo with the front door should of been shot vertically eliminating that room on the left. Of course there’s no right or wrong really. Good stuff
