I used to live about 1 mile from Orlando MCO and I used to listen to the MD 80 from Delta and American Airlines all the time when they arrived and take off was wonderful sound from the Mad dog

You can't beat the JT8D engines! Speaking of those, I forgot if I told you this already, but I'm flying to the Grand Cayman next summer on a MD88 and 739 2 times each on delta.

Hey, I lived in the Cayman Islands! Back in Canada, but lived there for a while. Delta MD-88's and MD-90's and an occasional 757 was common there! The local airline, Cayman Airways, also operates flights to the sister islands on Twin Otters and Saab 340's. Sadly no more Maddogs will be going to Grand Cayman.

Ahhh the venerable MD-88! I like to think of them as little rockets - when you watch them take off they seem to go straight up! (Well, to me, anyway. And I’m talking in and around NYC.) I understand they’re being phased out soon. All right, already, give me time. I’m still grieving the passenger 747 here in the States! See, it even waved at you at 8:27❤️

It is going to be sad to see them go. September 4th is the final American flight from DFW-ORD. The good news is that I have a seat booked on that flight! So, everyone will get to ride along! The JT8d is classified as a turbofan yes. However, it IS a modification of the Pratt & Whitney j52 turbojet, which powered the US navy A6 Intruder. SO, I'm not incorrect either.....DUDE.

Why does the wing look different when under the clouds

The main reason is because those pieces are polished aluminum. So they reflect the color of whatever is above them. So when we were below the clouds they were reflecting the gray color, but when we got above them they reflected the blue color of the sky. Thanks for watching guys!

Hello!Why some wing elements (flaps, spoilers) get soooo deep blue when you fly above clouds and they get back dirty gray again when you descent below clouds ? How is this effect called?

@@crankpuller0279 Well it's more the camera that makes it look blue. It's almost like a mirror. In reality, to your eye, it looks just like polished aluminum, so it just looks more like chrome.

Thanks for watching my friend! What you are seeing is the polished aluminum pieces on the wing. They reflect what is above them, so when we were below the clouds they looked gray. When we blasted through the clouds they reflected the blue sky which made them appear blue/black.
