Good video. I'm looking at doing a 4.8x4.8 garden house. Having difficulty translating what you have here to meet this. If you ever do a future video, making it more generic that people can scale up or down might be better for a larger audience.

14 liniel metres x height = m2. always order the 14 liniel metres (less big door) + a few extra sheets.. forget the window cut outs, they are just waste. Always order more than you need. Arrange with supplier before hand that you can return extra sheets etc.

Great video. I've watched all of your videos and found them to be very informative. It's all thanks to you and the other guy (whose name I shall not mention😂) that I've been able to build my 5x4 garden room. I start decorating later this week, having spent the weekend skimming. Wish me luck 😅 Thank you

I've got a span of 4m for my roof so I'll use 6x2 not 8x2 as suggested by the span tables because you said it will be ok! I'll let you know how I get on 🤞🏻

Thanks for the videos and info. I’ve always wanted to use a concrete floor as I’ll be driving a motorcycle onto it. Will it be strong enough with the floating insulation and chipboard to carry the bike?

I'm designing a 5x4 garden room and I'm wondering what I need to use in the roof to span the 4m. You mention on the video 5" beams (potentially doubled up) however I was wondering if I need more than this? Looking at other sources this seems a bit light to me. I was thinking about 7" or 8" but I'm no expert. Any advice would be fantastic! Thanks!

You could use a doubled up 5x2 or a 6x2 will be fine with 2 rows of noggins 👍

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, looking forward to getting my build underway in the next couple of months. I have a question to double check please. If my roof is to be 3.5 plus over hang can I use 5x2 joists or should I use 6x2. Thank you

5x2 will be fine 👍👍

Great video and super helpful. One thing not covered was the roof membrane & sheet cladding - do you have recommended suppliers for these?

Avenir roofing for the rubber. Roofline for the sheets 👍👍

Great video. Regarding floor insulation. What’s the minimum thickness you recommend sandwiched between the concrete slab and the floorboards? Would 50mm celotex be sufficient as don’t want to lose a lot of internal height? Thanks
@creategardenrooms6 ай бұрын
We use 90mm 👍

I hear you say the uprights will be 2170 but what’s the maximum height door you can manage taking the lintel into consideration thanks.
@creategardenrooms4 ай бұрын
All depends on your height limits ect. You could use a 6x2 lintel and get talkers doors. Any less and it might sag.
@fiestaturbo12874 ай бұрын
@@creategardenrooms height limit is 2.5 and pretty much to floor level, outside will be paved up to under the door cill so will go right up to the summer house. Would you still sit the door on a sole plate 4x2 (will be under the slabs) or direct to the concrete base? Which would mean lowering the garden a bit to maximise my height. Bifolds will be 2.4m so thinking of using a 3m steel unless 6x2 flitch beam will be enough? Thanks for your reply.
@creategardenrooms4 ай бұрын
@@fiestaturbo1287 could put it on the concrete but then your door threshold will determine how much insulation you’ll be able to get ontop of the concrete 👍
@fiestaturbo12874 ай бұрын
@@creategardenrooms good point 😩😂 and thinking about it the rest of the wall will have a sole plate so if I do or don’t the rest of the timber will be concealed but will be wrapped in dpc. So I’ll stick with putting it on a sole plate lol. Would you say timber or steel for a 2.4 span on bifold door? the summer house will be 3m so lintel will go all the way across. Cheers

I’ve watched it several times now and you don’t mention what wood you use for flooring. You state that you use moisture resistant boards to cover floor, but nothing about the timber underneath it!

That’s all we use mate. DPM -Concrete - DPM - 90mm celotex - 18mm moisture resistant t&g flooring - finished floor (laminate or whatever you choose)
