I enjoyed this! I garden in Southern Ontario too! Those nasty bugs are cucumber beetles, they can spread cucumber wilt virus. They overwinter in soil and mulch and emerge around June 10th in Southern Ontario. I combat them with crop rotation, tilling, setting out transplants rather than direct sowing as seeds release a come hither scent, that attracts the little buggers, when they germinate, and I am spraying my plants with 30g food grade diatomaceous earth per1L of water. I planted Egyptian walking onion sets today. Thank you for all the helpful info about them on your channel! Klaus

Thank you! And thank you so much for all the information on the beetles. I have a tray of back up seedlings that I may need to plant out. I too have used a food grade Diatomaceous Earth, but only at night when our honey bees are sleeping. You will love the EW onions! Happy Gardening my friend

My butterfly peas were also a dud! They germinated, some even grew inside but looked awful once outside. I feel a bit better but am sorry that neither of us will have them! Maybe next year .. everything else looks wonderful!

Love garden tours!! Your greenstalks look amazing! Now I want some for on my back deck lol, but with the wind we get, I'm not sure how they'd hold up. Your plants are so advanced compared to down here. We're in a heat wave, so it should boost things up! Pests are the worse, ugh!

Thank you! We have a heat warning in effect. Was 32 today. I will need to wait to get into the garden until tonight so that I don’t melt 🤣

Thanks for the update. Everything in your garden's looks so nice. Yea, I stopped 2 years ago giving my onions haircut, and mine have been coming out really nice. In that eggplant, you had a bottle upside down in it. What was that for? That orange flower you showed was beautiful. Sherry, your gardens are just perfect. Thanks again see you on the next one.

Thank you! I’m using tarracotta self watering spikes in my containers. Beer and wine bottles fit perfectly in them, so I borrowed some from hubby. I fill them with water and stick them in the spikes. This way I don’t have to water them daily. Thank you so much Tony
