I love these tours (and the daily updates!) They're really encouraging and reassuring. I always have this low level anxiety that everything in my garden will fail, because maybe one thing isn't perfect. But seeing the daily and weekly updates has really helped me understand what is normal and not to get freaked out over. And its all so inspiring-- my veggie garden doubled in size this year, thanks to your inspiration!

Plant Walker’s Low catmint! I planted several last August and they came back huge and full of beautiful purple blooms and the pollinators have been all over them for a month now. The are so pretty and continue to bloom and are easy-peasy to root and plant all over. I don’t know if they will become invasive but they are so beautiful, and the bees love them so much (as well as butterflies), I wouldn’t care of they took over my flower and veggie beds! I put a bunch of Russian Sage at the corners of each bed too, and they are beginning to bloom periwinkle blue and lavender and the pollinators are already loving that. Double duty plants-beauty AND benefit! I’m in Missouri and I’m noticing this plant more and more around town so hopefully this will help our precious bee friends. Now if I can just keep the collies from snapping at the bees buzzing their heads! 😉

Mushrooms are super-beneficial to your garden! The mycelium (white webby-looking stuff) that grows underground wraps around your plant's roots, forming a symbiotic relationship with them. Fungi takes toxins out of your plants in exchange for sugars that help the fungi to expand it's mycelial web. Keep them around! Friends helping friends!

Since I've never watched your channel from the beginning I'm still watching old episodes as they pop up. This year has been my worst ever. Like Ben, I've always been a gardener but some years more than others. I have the largest space and the best fencing this year and I've got the fewest plants to show for it. Something small enough to get into the garden has eaten everything or torn it up and left it in the paths. I think I need to make my fence less tight so my cat can get in there and maybe catch whatever it is!

I realize the problem I have with planting veggies is that my yard is a postage stamp in the middle of a city (Minneapolis). I have too much shade. I tried to do lots of seeds but they are definitely weeny. My magnolia peas are making an attempt to grow but I’m doubtful. My radishes were a total failure. Chin up, Jess, your gardens are glorious. Even if it’s not going great for you, believe in the beauty of what is growing. And it is amazing. Thank you. ❤️

Can I make a suggestion for your raised beds. Collect as many leaves in the fall as you can and grind them up. You can place them in a garbage can and grind them with a weed eater very easily. Then just toss them in your beds and by next season you have some beautiful soil. The worms love this and it will enrich your beds like you wouldn't believe.

All the clearing in the woods around you may have disturbed their usual pathways The noise of the machine may have kept them from settling as close to the garden as they usually do. I did some mason bee houses next to my food plots and they were quick to take advantage of it.

OMG YOU ARE ADORABLE!! I so appreciate your honesty and the real you. I have tended a small raised garden for four yrs...I LOVE IT! My garden is in the kennel so my dogs can play while I'm gardening or just watching it grow. Been pretty successful with most things, but weather and summer smoke from forest fires effects it for sure. Hoping for a great garden this year. Beets, green beans, peas, carrots, Cucumber and lettuce. Herbs: cilantro ( of course), basil, majoram, Italian parsley, oregano and chives. Will add a few new ones this year. Thank you for your inspiration, creativity and sharing that not perfect is perfect♡

I started keeping bees this year, primarily for the pollination. It has worked, and we've had a great year and bumper crop. I only have 3 hives, and I'm in it for less than $1k including bees and equipment. With all your gardening, I think you'd love it. Also, I am mildly allergic to bee stings, but it's worth the risk to me, and I'm really enjoying it. Honey bees are not aggressive, unless you bang on the hives, and with the proper equipment, it's quite enjoyable. Thanks for the weekly tour. I love seeing your garden.

First... I adore you and your channel! Your positive energy and brilliant smile is contagious!! Second... I recently read (and cross checked) that planting radishes around your squash plants will help repel squash bugs. Have you heard of this or tried it at all? Third... when we moved to our homestead I didn’t even know what amaranth looked like but noticed that a certain type of “weed” was taking all the damage from pests and leaving the rest of my plants alone. I found out that it was amaranth and now let much of the wild type grow as a trap plant. 😊

We're having trouble with pollinators also. Tromboncino goes wild, that's just it's nature and it's pretty bullet-proof once it gets going. Cucumber beetles and others love amaranth. It draws the beetles away from cucumbers to a degree and doesn't get the disease they spread. Volunteer beans equal free work :). Very beautiful garden.

Love your garden tours. Can't wait for the next one. So glad you didn't give up on tomatillos. I know they are different but I see them as a really cool tomato variety that just grows a husk around it's fruit. I grow them with the tomatoes and do it the same way and they do great. Start them inside, tie them to a trellis and keep pruned. And as an added bonus I say it wrong the same way you say Dr wyche. I say it similar to armadillo but it's tom a till o.

I think if I recall, Ben dropped your packet of seeds in water. I think that’s why you planted that many zinnias.

Hi Jessie, PAT Smith here.I am noticing an acute lack of bees this year.mostly wasp pollenators.I'm in 7b or8a on Columbia. S. C. We have already had triple digits 3 or4 days then buckets o water a few days .I'm glad my tomatoes are green so none busted. I have loads of mushroomsall over the yard .I suppose from the 60,000lbs of wood chips last year. .love seen afewstink bugs earlier than usual. I HAVE A TIME GETTING OKRA started. I'VE planted 3 times. I think they're going to make it now . If they don,t burn up. Love your videos.

Love these garden tours! Have you considered sharing your menu plans occasionally? I know you said you’d share recipes when you could. But I love seeing people’s full menu plans also.

Cut ends on green beans and steam them. Add raw minced garlic and vinegar (apple cider vinegar preferred). YUM!!!

Your garden looks absolutely beautiful! I always have to keep in mind that we are like a month behind here in Belgium. We are struggling too, but it is our first year growing so much in raised beds in the garden (we moved to our home last year and before we lived in an appartement and grew stuff in pots on the patio). You are a great inspiration! Thanks for all the info you are giving! Really curious to see the new animals though!!

I love the idea of clearing the woods and making all that space for a bee hive.

I'm so glad you mentioned no pollinators. That is a huge issue at my house also. I haven't seen hardly any bees. I have planted tons of flowers, hung humming bird feeders because bees like the sugar water too. It's really sad.

I live few hours west, where the Holly Springs Homestead Conference was... and this is the first year I have ever seen a shortage of bees here too... A few bumble bees... I am hand pollinating my squash... I thought a saw a pollinator twice... both times a cucumber beetle! Those are the only 2 of those I have seen too! Typically there are so many bees around any flowering bushes/trees that the entire yard is buzzing.

You are a beautiful person Jess. You love God. You love your Hubby and your children. The love of God just radiates from you. Thank you for such great tips in the Garden. I had to stop the vid to use a paint brush on my tomatoe flowers and squash plants. LOL....I came back to the vid. Thank you Jess.

You can ferment nasturtium seeds and use them like capers. No need to feel pressure to eat all the flowers! 😊

Jess. I have had really good luck spraying with a 30% peroxide spray. I used it last yr for blight and I sprayed about a week ago with it for aphids and a bit of early blight. I pruned today and was surprised how well it killed the aphids. I also spray the dirt around the plant to help control the disease and mold and what not in the soil. My plants looked pretty good. Much better then using nasty chemicals. I think you will like the results.
