My parents always said do it right the first time so you dont have to come back in from playing. I learned to clean good, and always kept my room picked up so it didnt take as long, then ...freedom with my friends all day long. This was in the 70s, 80s when I could be gone all day and noone thought anything of it.

What I love about your channel is you're "one of us". I watch other channels of course but then I see them going to super high price second hand places to get their "charity shop goods" and I'm thinking.. what??? Thirty five dollars for a old crock. No, just no. Or remodels where they carry on about only wanting the best of the best top end tile, faucets, and so on. You're down to earth and realistic along with being incredibly creative & talented which is why I keep coming back for more. That and you're just fun. exactly that I cant film outside my property far too much noise 24/7. Very lucky to choose a quiet area to live in. I miss living in a grove. I want to do a balcony video but fear too much noise.

Nan always said "Here quick, just give it a lick and a promise." before we got company. I was about 8yo when I asked "What am I promising?" She told me I was promising to clean more thoroughly later. I didn't like that, so I told her no I'm not promising to keep cleaning, I'll just lick it. She laughed and told my parents, then later my aunts, then my Granddad, then the world. I forgot about it until you just mentioned what your father said. Isn't it nice to have funny memories of those we love? Makes missing them easier. 🙂❤

Katherine, we just redid our master bath en suite. I cannot believe how much dust we had. It was so liberating to finally finish. It took 2 months. Problem here in the U.S. is that materials are scarce amidst a building boom which makes workers scarce for small projects. So we spent several days between steps waiting for professionals. 🙀. But praise the Lord, we're done. Good luck to you on your project.

Suggestion: Pack up the tea cups inside the bedroom door before the work begins; guys coming and going with supplies & materials and all the pounding on the other side of the wall, sure would hate any of them to get damaged. I figure you will, but since you didn't mention it, just wanted to be safe.

My sweet grandma (my dad's mom) used to say "give it a cat's lick"!! She and my grandfather were directly from Wales so it probably figures. I hadn't thought of that in ages...made me chuckle! Years ago I had a lady come in twice a week to do a basic pick-up and bathroom cleaning (it was a gift from my mom because I taught school and had two kids and she knew it would help!) and my husband always said the night before that I cleaned for the cleaning lady! I think we like to watch others tidy up because it makes us all know that if you live in a place, it's ok to have to pick it up!

Cant wait to see your new bathroom, so exciting. I recently redid my guest bathroom by painting not only the walls, ceiling, an bead board but took down all the dates looking fixtures and painted them all matte black and they look brand new and so updated. Even painted the faucet and sprayed matte clearcoat over all. New shower Curtain, rugs and decorations. Love it all. Suggest from a long time sewist, I would put a piece of fabric under your needle them put pressure foot down to avoid dust getting under plate OR better yet, make a video of you making a lovely machine cover.

I giggled at wanting to tidy up before the construction crew arrives because I know the feeling! When I was a working mom & my daughter was to little to really help, I had a cleaning lady come in 2x a month. I would always tidy up because I didn’t want her to think I was messy 😂. The last time I did a big messy project in the house I put up overlapping plastic, covering Every doorway. It worked perfectly to keep all the dust from the rest of the house. Two helpful hints tho, when removing the plastic do so by rolling it into it's self gently, to avoid fanning around any left over dust. Second and most importantly, after your home is fully dusted and polished, if anyone in your life offers to Help you by running the wet/dry vacuum, make sure they know how to, without blowing the dust back out the exhaust.😒 Enjoyed this video as always.

Oh girl one half of me was thinking I understand you wanted the house perfect before people come but the other half was thinking oh you won’t believe the dust your going to find in the furthest corner of your home from a builders project even when covers are up and it can be weeks after..hopefully it won’t be to bad as you have two windows in your bedroom . But I’m excited for you it’s going to really make your home feel more complete...I know when after having a very small kitchen probably 6th by 4 ft I decided to convert my garage at front of my house into a bigger kitchen it made my home feel more complete ..I’m so glad I did it but the dust 👀 🤪 lol. I have to admit this inspired me. lol Despite the fact that I have been deep cleaning and painting for the past two weeks (my daughter graduates from HS on Sunday, so grad party prep cleaning) I really feel like cleaning again! I do agree lighter colors seem to show dirt easier. My kitchen cabinets are a buttery yellow color and seem to look dirty on a regular. I am very much looking forward to the reno vlog later on this summer. I love seeing how others do the different rooms in their house. I have lived in my house for 16 years and never reno'd a room, but we are planning to redo the bathroom very soon so I'm hoping to get some inspiration from you. Lol! All the cat items under the couches! My cats tend to hide items under the fridge. One time when hubby pulled it out for me to clean behind, we found 27 foil balls, 12 pens and pencils, 10 bottle caps and numerous detritus. They have their own basket with their own toys in it, why did they need mine?! I'm now down to 2 or 3 pens so it's almost time to clean under the fridge again, lol!
