Glad to see others making thier own specialty tools. I made a cam gear holder a few days ago to hold the cam gear still to take out the bolt. With a grinder,welder,and saws-all you can do just about anything.

You lucky dog! I need a JZ in my life. I do got a 1uzfe going in one of my mk3's though. Got new seals and timing belt going in it next weekend and then its saving for the bellhousing, clutch kit, and the engine mounts. Got most of the wiring already sorted.

I like them so much I am traveling another 6 hours one way to get another 1uz for my mk2 supra also this weekend. End goal is to have a 1uz mk3, 1jz mk3, and a 1uz mk2. Then find another s30 datsun to fix up. One car I severely regret selling.

Clear some drawers in a tool cabinet, get some sheets of strong cardboard. As you disassemble: Draw the parts outline on a sheet of cardboard and write the name of the part on it. Then poke the bolts through the card in the right location on the silhouette. Really helps with parts that have lots of different length bolts for no reason.

I used to work on caterpillar truck engines and they had some of those pipe style connectors with the o-rings on each end I used to use brake fluid on the seals and that would break down the o-ring and make it easier to pull apart

I haven’t heard the best things about SPEC clutches, but hopefully you’ll have no issues! And the push/pull type clutch is the way to go, so much nicer to the crankshaft 😜

Vin's S14 is pretty much finished, the Raptor is done, M3 is track ready... All Vin has left is his Lexus he building, which we will have a Staff inspection on that coming soon!

i highly suggest gutting the AC pump and using it as an idler pulley because without that you will throw belts easily when drifting or you can move the alternator to the ac position without anything in that spot the forces pull in the ps pump causing it to flex which results in ps belt getting tossed

First off to answer your question. I'd put a 2JZ in a 2nd gen celica with supra flares ( I know you've seen this done ). My older brother used to drive a white automatic and I still loved it... Now picture this car, and loving it... Now picture this car is WHITE ( A time to kill reference ). I love the 80's,,, I love 2jz's. Eat me!!!! Now #2... Danger Dan damn near loses a hand ( just a finger, but it rhymed ). This tough, athletic, gymnastic, sacktastic , hardass goes right back at it. Just for us. That's just special. Here's to the Clint Eastwood of Hoonigan!!!!

I threw a belt once, I was passing another car, felt a judder in the steering wheel, then boom no steering, I let the car I was passing over take me again, because since I was on a bend going to the left, and my truck was pulling to the right, turned on my hazards, indicated and then let the car cross back over and onto the shoulder, I was about 100 mi. out from the nearest anything in NM, fun times.

@@HooniganProjectGarage Actually, I got towed back to Gallup, which I had passed quite a way back (closest garage), it was quite the wait for the tow, though there were many nice people that stopped and topped off the water gallon jugs we had (including the road crew that was out working the on coming lanes). We then spent the next 3 days there, waiting for the parts and our truck to be fixed.

Given you've taken it all apart, perhaps get it on a stand and give the block a good clean and wash down and painting it? easier to spot leaks and looks good. I recommend Hammerite smooth blue :) and for coils, go for the R35 coil setup, they're reliable and can make serious power.

Quick tip, put a socket in there about the same size as the inside of that tube and you won't crush it.
