I said this before. Take production from China and shift to Central America and help solve nigration and long distance transport of goods problems.
@benjamincai1272
@benjamincai1272 5 ай бұрын
They already did that. The majority of production has moved to Mexico. Furthermore, jobs go to where theres a competitive edge based on a set of metrics. China will remain competitive because of its higher literacy rate and consistent work ethic despite its high population. In other word, China outcompete central America.

Perhaps the United States shouldn't have supported military dictatorships one after the other for over a hundred years and continued sending in guns and armaments to some of the most ruthless military dictators in Central America. And why do you think they did this? In the 1800s the United States industrialists bought up almost all of the best agricultural land in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Nicaragua, Panama and much in Mexico. Having much of their land and natural resources owned by American industrialists the Latino's were left with nothing. Forced into poverty as a result of foreign ownership whenever they tried to get their land back or to find a more equitable solution they were deemed socialist or communist and the United States would send in more guns to support a new dictator to make sure that the American industrialists did not lose their Latin holdings. Because of this situation, here's an example which is indicative of all Latin America, in Honduras a large section of the population was deemed to be suffering from malnutrition, in a tropical country no less with a 12-month growing cycle. The reason was found to be the U.S United fruit company which owns almost all of the agricultural land finds it more profitable to grow and sell pineapples to Americans than tomatoes to the locals. As a result the native population has nothing to eat. When they ask for the land back the US supported anotherl military dictator in order to make sure that the United fruit company did not lose its land holdings. It's not Latin America that needs to do more to keep people from migrating it's the United States that needs to do something to fix an unjust situation which has continued for over a hundred years. If they can fix this and find a better equitable solution for the people of Latin America they will stop migrating; they live in a rich fertile land of many natural resources and have great agricultural production unfortunately they don't own any of it and are forced to leave to look for work and food.

Honduras in El Salvador are the key control points for migration south of those countries. Guatemala and Belize are secondary points. That won't stop the illegal immigration but it will cut out 50% of it. It will make it more difficult for the cartels and therefore they will increase their prices and that means some folks that could afford it will no longer afford it and are not coming. It's cheaper to pay a guard than it is to house the illegal immigrant inmates❤

Bravo Presidenté Arevalo! You give me hope for a wonderful country that deserves the opportunity to prosper! I travelled through Gautemala in 2016 (during which time I vividly remember watching Trump’s surreal March through the Republican Primary). At the time I saw a nation of proud and industrious people struggling to live better lives after many years of civil war and oppression by military juntas and corrupt politicians, many of whom were supported by the USA with military aid in the “fight against communism” during the Reagan era. Sadly corruption throughout the country kept people in poverty or drove them to leave for a better life in America. President Arevalo had to fight these same corrupt politicians to win an election they tried to bar him from running in. His victory is a massive success for democracy in Latin America and an exciting opportunity for Guatemala to reshape its future. As President Arevalo pointed out, the best thing America can do is to support economic development in Guatemala and Latin America by investing in their vast economic opportunities and supporting democracy. Let’s pray that the Democrats win the election so this opportunity can be seized! Le desero a Guatemala a mejor y espero volver! 🇬🇹

Guatemalans are Native Americans, all mexicans and central americans are indigenous north americans (see Anzik 1, Helena Montana DNA and Proto Mayan, Uto Aztecan [hopi, piute, nez perce, shoshone, nahuatl pipil languages] ) Maybe Ireland, Germany, the Anglican church, the Italian government or wherever your grandma fled from to colonize native america, should have done more to help her stay there? But if you want to be harsh to today's new coming colonizers, then you should also be equally harsh to what gave you the privilege to chastise other countries going through the same issues Europe and Asia were 'and are yet' going through; ie Ukraine and China (much higher immigration from Asia today and from Europe and Africa In the past than less than a million Guatemalans, which is virtually nothing compared to past [non native to america, non indigenous to the americas] recent history's massive immigration waves to this continent, hundreds of millions of europeans and asians in American native lands) ✌️ 🌎

12:32 Please don’t make me defend Trump! There are migrants coming from small native villages, in Central and South America, that speak a language that only those in the village speak. Trump was also talking about prisons emptying in Venezuela and the prisoner come here. The border crisis is due to the incentives that migrants are given if they make it here. The Guatemalan president knows this and is speaking out of both sides of his mouth. I wish the US could help our Central American neighbors by increasing trade, help with education, vocational training, lend some of our top healthcare physicians/nurses to build structural hospitals around small villages. Green energy, tourism, agriculture… but some of these corrupt leaders just want the cash.

He is a great diplomat, but I would like to know what he will do with the issue of oligarchies? Guatemala currently lives on remittances and these are monopolized by market monopolies. There is no law that forces these oligarchies to reinvest in the country plus the corruption factor, no education and then you have the middle business men usually gringos buying coffee, sugar cane etc at the best price and people paying that price with very low salaries. Tan lejos de Dios y tan cerca de los gringos.

The exploitation if their resources is criminal by America and Canada. Guatemala, February 26 - For six and a half years, one of the largest silver mines in the world has sat dormant in southern Guatemala awaiting the outcome of a historic consultation process with Indigenous Peoples. That process - ordered to take place by Guatemala’s highest court - has become the most comprehensive consultation with Indigenous communities ever undertaken on a resource project in the country’s history. It will inform whether the Guatemalan government reinstates the suspended mining licence of PAS Guatemala, a subsidiary of the Vancouver-headquartered mining giant Pan American Silver (TSX:PAAS). A decision to do so would allow the company to begin extracting the 264.5 million ounces of proven and probable silver reserves accessible through its US$500 million Escobal mining operation.

It is not in the geopolitical interest nor in the national security interests of the United States to see a successful and prosperous Western Hemisphere. Where its neighbors like Guatemala, Venezuela, Columbia or Cuba or Haiti etc prospering. NO. Only the United States and Canada are allowed to prosper and compete. The USA only cares about its national security interests and agendas. The only time the United States would step up to help other countries in the Western Hemisphere is when there are competition around. Like if China or Russia were to suddenly start showing interests in Guatemala 🎉 western Hemisphere to help develop countries in ths carribean, latin and south America. Then you would immediately see the USA begin a propaganda campaign on communism or nuclear missles propaganda. If the United Sates is going to help you it will first try to convince you about human rights LGBTQIAS nonsense and dump NGOs (foreign non governmental organizations disguised 🥸) into your country to destabilize, to rip wealth and extort wealth out of the country.

TBCH, I just heard a bunch of contradictions, assertions and claims that cannot rationally make sense in reality. Every statement and claims by the Guatemalan Pres points to the utter uselessness of his own govt. What's the point for existing when it's unable to address and deal with it's own countries "root causes"? Especially when it relies on aid and support from other countries to do so, to a degree as if they're entitled to such aid and support.

The direct statements the Guatemalan President made provides the substance that support my views which were focused precisely on those statements. I doubt our govts involvement with Guatemalas is much different from our relationships with other countries that have underdeveloped economies. One thing we could try - cooperate with Guatemalan media to help people understand what a shitshow of a country they’re abandoning everything and everyone they’ve ever known and loved to risk their lives getting to. And really try to confer to them just how many of our citizens think they’re a subhuman species.

@@levymoyer8391the migrant comes here and receives more help from the US than they did from their own country. There is opportunity here, more than where they come from. That's why they take the gamble. No one ever told them it would be easy, just like it wasn't easy for my great grandparents when they came here. But they took the gamble for a better life for themselves and their family. It doesn't get more American than that. Those who come looking for work and a better life I wish the best of luck. We need to fix our policies in the US that's the real issue. Not them. Stop with the handouts to non citizens. Don't make it so appealing to come here without a plan. We can't continue to be the welfare state for non citizens. Its too tempting and creates a sense of the US being a finish line to prosperity.
