People really are hating on a great video! Good job man, keep up the helpful content. To all the people who don't understand, he knows this isn't going to be the fastest way to clear lvl 4s, it's about safety and being cheap. He clearly says that you don't need to use faction gear on everything tech 1/2 will get you similar results. This is a guide for people who don't have max skills, and are newish to the game. I just hit 4 months in game and my first BS and I'm loving my dominix! Safe, reliable, and cheap (mostly tech 2 gear for around 325mil total cost)

Nice video! The domi was my first BS and my introduction to L4 mission. I spent a great deal of time perfecting the art of sentry domis. So good job! A bit of nitpicking, tho. There's no such a think that if your optimal is 120, you start hitting less at 60. You hit at 100% strenght within optimal, 120km or 1km away. I think what you mean is not about weapon range per se, but about computer scripts. Yes, if your target is withing base optimal range of your weapon system (that applies both to your turrets and those on the drones), using a script to extend that range does absolutely nothing. So you may just replace the script and increase your tracking. So you have basicly 3 ranges possibile: 1) basic weapon range 2) extended by unscripted computer 3) extended by optimal script If the target is outside 3) still use full optimal script (since falloff starts where optimal ends, the more you extend optimal, the better). If between 2) and 3), stay on full optimal. If between 1) and 2), you should drop the script. This gives half bonus on tracking. If within 1), use a tracking script, for full tracking bonus. Yet, in my experience, frigates spend too little time in a good range. By the time you swap, you get a few seconds, and then they're too close even for the tracking scripts, and you have to switch to medium/light drones anyway. Also, of course you can use the jumpdrive in this mission. Just think 3D. In most missions you can just jump 100km up or down, this puts you at about 120-130km from the targets. If you're good and have 3D spatial awareness, you can place yourself at 100km from the gate. You kill almost everybody, then jump on the gate, finish stuff off with geckos/ogres/gardes. Now the timing depends on the mission. In some of them you can take the gate right away, ignoring JD cooldown. That's if you know that you can tank the next room for a while. If not, it's prudent to wait for the cooldown so that you can jump right away when you land on the next grid. Also, when you're 100km away, you can safely orbit one of your sentries, or drop 1 ammo and orbit the can. While your speed isn't going to make a huge difference, remember that the damage formula for both missiles and turrets benefits from a still (speed = 0) target. So, never sit still. BTW the great thing about the domi is its flexibility. E.g. you chose to use tank rigs. That's reasonable and effective. But it's not the only option. If you used fitting rigs (+powergrid, +cpu) you could fit EANMs instead of platings, gaining extra resistances too. The advantage? You can swap resistance modules based on the rats. They all have the same fitting requirements. You can't swap rigs. Also, it's totally possibile to fit a shield tank on a domi, especially if running L4s in Angel space. Armor rigs would be useless, fitting rigs still work. YMMV, greatly. At a time I had two domis, with different tanks, one parked in Angel space, on in Sansha space. It was easier than refitting. And then, since the tanks were supposed to be specialized anyway, I did use tanking rigs. Overall, Domis are great ships for starter L4s running. The runner ups would be Ravens. Harder to say which is better, it depends on the mission. Both the Domi and the Raven are on the path to the Rattlesnake, which is a solid L4 runner before you get into the heavy stuff, marauders.

Alternative Drone options - 5 Wardens - Long Range 5 Garde or 5 Bouncers - Short Range 2 Flights of Light Combat Drones (Hobs and Warriors?) Leave your sentry drones out until they are about to take armor damage. Rats have hard time hitting sentries at range, and every rat shooting them is 1 fewer rat shooting you. Prioritize Small and close to large and far away for targeting priority.

Thanks, getting me hyped for level 4s again (now that my skills are up to par). What do you think of the Praxis as a sentry+rails ship? More DPS, less range, 1/10 the price. Two on the field really shred through missions, two MTUs each and salvage drones clean up pretty quick without extra trips.

A tip for the wondering viewer, do not use MTU in hi-sec, unless you are in a very lonely system, or everything is away 14.3 AU away from you. Someone will always come and hit it to go suspect and bait you into aggro them. MTUs stick out like a sore thumb in the D-Scan window. However, if you are confident in yourself, or multiboxing, you can also use MTUs to bait them :D

I think you can swap scripts like ammo, right clicking a module. No need to drag and drop from cargohold. The Assault is one of the missions that takes a lot of time to complete.

I wish there would be some current dps meter ingame, so far im using ishtar now, i wanted to try out geckos, on paper it says it has more dps, but in reality they was dealing less dps than 5x target resist specific drones, (even went to chat gpt to do the math and he told me the same xD), and then i wanted to try sentries, and they are so fun, it says they have low dps, but because they don't waste time traveling, they have similar dps to heavy drones, and i don't risk losing them as they can very quickly pop into my dronebay

It is cap stable, 600-700 dps(garde-ogre), tanks well enough for a sniper (rarely takes armor damage) , garde ii can hit frigates at 3000 m, as well as ships at 75km. Targeting at 161 km(really dont want to kill stuff that far since looting is a pain even with mtu). Rails can one-shot frigates at 130 km. Generally this is just a boat you don't have to pay a lot of attention to. Price is around 440m isk in 2024. My suspicion is that you spent too much on range...most L4 sniping involve killing things fast between 30k to 80km. That is good enough for a sniper. If we get too much range but not enough dps for 30-80 km, it tend to get difficult as things get too close.

You also don't need a lot of tank since most things die before they can hit. And absolutely use that MJD even if things get out of range. It will give you a really good spread to deal with smaller ships first.

Sniper Domis are nice, but not on their own. 600DPS is too low for Lvl 4s. They take forever.

You are correct: the dps is low for lvl 4's, that said: you will take minimal damage on most lvl 4's. This is ideal for newer players

@@lorumerthgaming That depends. I mission in Caldari space, and the NPCs can pummel with missiles from over 100KM. So you must stay switched on. That said, the Domi is an excellent ship to use with a Marauder for example. Jump in, MWD 100KM out and the Assist the Marauder. Works nicely. Just found your channel, I like your ideas. Good job.

4 Drone Link Augmentors? Aren't the diminishing returns fully eating up at least the 4th one and already giving you only a few percent on the 3rd one?! For my taste, you're using way too many of the same modules, and you were also often mixing active and passive tanks way too much.... Wouldn't rebuild your fittings....
