I had the opposite reaction. The more I replayed X2 the more I noticed some of the upgrades are moronically cryptic, the sigma stages have a spike fetish, and the music pales to X1.

I personally find X2 to be the best of the original 3. To me, X2 had the most interesting subweapons because how most of them could be used for additional platforming options. Also, I really liked how your second charge shot could be used to damage bosses even during their invincibility frames.

Shame none of the weapons are worth using outside of boss fights. They cause a lot of slow down and stay on screen far too long, leaving X defenseless if you miss unless you manually enter the pause menu to switch weapons causing the previous on-screen weapon to vanish.

@@sweetpataterz8738 yeah but it's not as repetitive as in X3, on X2 you hear guitars but there's way more instruments being played on the back so that it doesn't feel repetitive, on X3 you hear more guitars than anything else, making X3 soundtrack somewhat inferior from a critic viewpoint. not saying X3 Soundtrack is trash, some guitar riffs actually sounds pretty good (intro stage, gravity beatle, Doppler stage 1, etc.), but it gets really repetitive therefore it's not as good as X2 with it's varieted music styles and sounds.

This might just honestly be my favourite game of all time lol. I've played it so damn much, and it never gets old. It also helps that this is probably the Megaman game with the most freedom of choice. In other games, I always feel inclined to start with a specific boss. Mostly the easiest one, or the one with the best weapon. Like, sure, I could start with Elec Man's stage in Megaman 1, but... Why would I? I could also start with launch octopus in X1, but again, why would I? In both of those scenarios the player is hilariously unprepared for the boss. And that honestly is a curse that plagues almost every Megaman game, the games seem to give you the choice where to start, but there's always an order that's just Better than anything else, not that it's a huge issue, the Megaman series may just be my favourite franchise ever made, but it's still a problem I have with basically every game in the series. but here... That's not the case, for the first (and last time) I truly feel like I can just start anywhere I want, and that alone makes this game infinitely replayable for me, the fact that there are so many ways to play through it while also never having to backtrack incredible, even if you start at a level like overdrive ostrich, where you'll inevitably miss the boots upgrade, you can still play through the rest of the game without missing a single collectible and just... Return later on. In other X games, Playing a certain level first will ensure you will have to backtrack more than once, not the case here though, and it's still only one level where having an upgrade is required to get the collectible, there's literally endless possibilities with the order of bosses you fight, made even better by the fact that they're all completely beatable without any upgrade and are all fun to fight. Honestly, if there's any game I'd consider perfect, it's this one. There's nothing I dislike about this game. An absolute Masterpiece.

​ RAGE INTERNET!!! How X2'weapons helps me ? Well , the weapons are powerfull : Spin Whell (normal shot like charged shot) , Magnet Mine (kills many ennemies in one shot) , Bubble Shot has a shield who is better than Rolling Shield because it doesn't break against a strong ennemy, Sonic Slicer is very good too , Silk Shot charged is very powerful and very useful for find Energy weapons/life in the ground, Speed Burner is very good and can give you an air dash supplementary, and the strike chain has a little range but very useful to get the arm part within the mid dash. Only the charged shot of Crystal Snail was totally useless. The normal shot was funny and easy method to get Energy weapons too

The opening stage track just completely sets the entire tone of this entire game. I remember being a kid hearing this and then green biker (Guy) gets destroyed right in front of me, thinking... X2 means business, no time to mess around!

If you're a prog rock fan, then you'll enjoy MMX2's composition. It's definitely not as straightforward or traditional in composition as MMX or X3 but it's just really cool to listen to! I personally love it but I can see how some people might not like it as much.

It's the agressive tempo of the drums I think. The bass drum sound is much clearer. Basically all the songs are short but the elaborate percussion makes the songs pop. The other two have great tunes as well, but thats my personal take on why this one is best/different.

Also the music timing and structure is super fkt up. As a musician, X2 is very hard to follow and play. 1 and 3 is a lot more traditional.
