I know this was beyond extensive.
My biggest challenge is making the message concise without feeling like I'm leaving out a crucial piece of understanding. I remember what it was like to slowly piece this stuff together throughout years of deciphering through all the confusing content. So I now tend to include every single lightbulb moment I had along the way...hence the 30 minute video lol. My delivery will improve. Regardless, I truly hope this helps someone who desperately needs it.
Rooting for ya.

Bro, I’m 25 yrs old and I’ve had SI joint and lower back pain since middle school & tore my ACL in 10th grade. If I found this before then I’d probably be D1. This unlocked my hips (specifically my right hip) so much it felt unnatural to move so freely afterwards. Thanks a million for disseminating this info.

I incorporated this and the back extension work for the first time yesterday after weeks of doing the McGill big 3. I felt immediate pain relief in my hips and low back today. I feel soreness in all the right areas of my back/hips and no sharp pains (despite sneezing and coughing)! I am so excited to continue to incorporate this work 2x times a week and I’ll update this comment with my progress. You’ve opened my eyes on the journey towards back rehabilitation and I can’t thank you enough for it. You’re a saint.

@@lowbackability Hey, it's been a while since I updated this, but things were going really well! I was able to complete my fundamental back extension work (20 reps each side, 30 full back) and move on to the full fledged roadmap routine. I basically had full range of motion, very little pain (if any at all), and I generally felt stronger. Unfortunately, in my enthusiasm and ignorance, I decided to play a heavy week of volleyball that tweaked my back so hard it felt like I regressed back into my pre-rehab state. Then things got busy, I got off routine, I went on vacation, and now I basically need to start all over :) But, I truly believe that consistency in this routine will lead to greatness because I've already seen results. I plan on now approaching my gym sessions with a performance/rehab mindset. My goal is to be able to play any sport, at any time, for as long as is healthily possible lol. Just wanted to say thank you again. I will try and update you again when I make some more consistent progress. I'm a bit curious as to when and how I should be incorporating sports without completely fucking me up, so any advice there would be great :)

@@InfernalFate incredible!! No shame, I have made this mistake many many times haha. Believe it or not, you really aren't back to "square one" despite what it feels like. You may have current symptoms but all the building you have taken the time to do, doesn't just disappear because of symptoms. Your foundation today is far greater than before. I am working on a feature of the website that prepares you back to the specifics of different sports/activities! Please keep me updated on how it’s going for you. I would love to help in any way I can. Plus we are always looking for tweaks to the program to make it even better!
@InfernalFate
@InfernalFate Күн бұрын
@@lowbackability I'm glad to hear my gains aren't lost. It was pretty confusing to see how bad my symptoms started flaring up again. I never fully got my back assessed for its issue, but the more I think about, the more it feels like it was always a muscle tolerance issue. I injured it during RDLs and I think it was always a weak aspect of my body. During McGill's back mechanics book, there is a section that assess the injury. In my case, it never really fit any critera exactly. I had various symptoms, but never something that fit an exact type of injury. It was strange. On a side note, I just wanted to mention that my knees really took a beating when I tried to incorporate the reverse nordic and ATG split squat. It seems like even though I was able to do both at level ground, I had to regress a lot in order to find a height at which I could complete the exercises without feeling immense pain in the kness the following days. All is good though, I think this prolonged resting period has given me some time to think and approach my future workouts in a better way :) Also, I'm really curious on that new feature you're working on for your website! That seems like an aspect of the program that I would love to purchase. It'd be great to get more insight on how to get back into playing what I want to from someone who is basing it around back injuries. I'd love to chat more about it over a call if you're open to it :)

If you’re still dealing with the hip shift, you may have pelvic instability, try wearing an SI belt for 10 days at all times, even while you sleep (take it off only to shower). Then check out the postural restauration institute for a deep dive on the left AIC pattern & 90/90 hip lift with shift. It is gold. Coming from someone who suffered w this my whole life until I discovered the above. Now still working on opening the hips, and strengthening the core, hip flexors, lower abs, left anterior interior chain of muscles (suitcase carry on left side w a kettle bell w core & pelvic floor engaged to rebalance strength), and with videos like yours included, well done! Thank you for making this 🙏

A lot of those connections u talk about always gets overlooked in the sports world and in the realm of kinesiology. I don’t know if you talk about frequency on how many times to do these exercises per week/day in the rest of the video but I think that would help some people as well (if you didn’t already put it in the rest of the video lol). Everything you mention about your previous back struggles is me to a T. I’ve come a long way the last 6 months. Thanks to you guys I am almost to standards on all these except I need some more work on the 90/90 outer hip strengthening. I am still imbalanced there. And I just tried adding in the QL/oblique stretch on a back extension. When I get out of it I have pain again. And I notice my hip height discrepancy is back. So I’m thankful for the explanation on not rushing into the QL on back extension. I’ll keep working the 90/90 outer hip ability.

The knee to chest rounds and stretches the lumbar spine; the exercise he demonstrates at 19:23 keeps the focus on opening and strengthening the hip/glute musculature while keeping a neutral spine :) which is why he advises not leaning forward and compromising the lumbar spine.

Lower back and left hip hurt so much. If I am actively walking at a leisure pace, it hurts but slightly less. If I am standing still at length doing dishes or cooking, it hurts so bad I can barely stand. I notice when I walk backwards I actually feel relief in my back. I can walk about 1/2 mile before I have to sit down and rest for a minute or two for the pain to lessen so I can walk further. I do a 3 mile walk that takes me 1hr 30 minutes + an extra 30 minutes for stretching before hand all because my back hurts so bad. I need to lose weight, but it's hard to lose weight when my mobility is limited so much by this constant back pain. I need to try this and see how well it works.

Should i do all the exercises from day 1 or are these the progressions of the same exercise. Maybe I start with butterfly and eventually progress to good mornings then stop doing butterfly OR start with butterfly initially and additionally start on good morning after few weeks?
