Yamaha hasn’t documented this information that I could find. LOL, turns out the secret is to swipe the touchscreen to get the patching I was looking for. Thanks a bunch!

Such a great tutorial. I’ve watched everything on this mixer and this is the best by a mile. Yamaha need to employ you instead of the regular annoying dude. Nice job.

The long wait for the Dante version of this mixer was well worth the wait, and I'm sure you as well Drew have been wanting to make this video for such a long time now! Thanks for showing everything this wonderful console has to offer in such a small form factor. I think it would be beneficial to others in future videos to go over the differences this console has in comparison to other mixers like the TF series, and although a different family of consoles, the X32/M32 as well since I learned the Behringer and Midas consoles first before adapting to Yamaha's approach with their mixers. An example would be the "on" button is the same as "mute", the sends menu on the right side of the DM3 is what would be the equivalent to "sends on fader", and then how the new 2.0 firmware update allows you to break up the USB to 3 different inputs (13/14, 15/16, 17/18) similar to Behringer and Midas where on a Windows computer, you can change the speaker output device. Before firmware version 2, this was not possible on the DM3 and the console would show up as a single Line speaker output. Mac OS however I believe allows you to choose your USB ins/outs. Again, thanks Drew for your videos! I always rewatch a lot of them to refresh what I learned when needing to mix on my M32R 😊

Great video. I have the DM3 standard and this video is by far the best insight into this board that I’ve seen. Your voice and explanation’s are far superior to the Yamaha tutorials. If I was going to suggest any videos on this desk it would be more in-depth tutorials on sends & returns, setting up monitors / iems, recording to usb etc. Yamaha have tutorials on these subjects but are not relatable as the guy doing them is dam annoying. Once again thanks for your time, love the channel.

Thanks Drew. As always great video. I did have a question though. Right now I am making a mix on MIX 3 and sending that into my 2-channel Focusrite. When I get on Zoom or Stream I assign the input to the Focusrite. That way the only input it receives is from my Mix 3 output. How could I PATCH the DM3 so it emulates that set up so I don't need the Focusrite. Thanks in advance, and keep up the great tutorials and overviews. I was VERY pleased when I ran across this DM3 overview and you were presenting. :)

Can you do a comparison video demonstrating the difference between the Yamaha DM3 and A&H CQ-18T?
@josevillanueva90912 ай бұрын
I was hoping there’d be an update that includes DCAs. The A&H CQ recently released an update to include them. If Yamaha releases an update to include DCAs, I’m in! I really love having faders.

Thank you Drew for the nice overview. Your explanations are always very helpful. Could you perhaps briefly explain how you would loop in an old analog compressor, for example (outboard gear). I do it with two mono channels (one mix bus), send and return, but that always uses up 2 channels. Is there a more elegant way to do it? Many thanks and greetings from Belgium.

Super appreciate this Overview! You're always very informative and content-full! Would you be able to make a video on how to update to Ver 2.0? I'm having a hard time updating the Dante firmware along with the rest. I had to revert back to 1.13. Thanks again!

@jovanbunjevic17233 ай бұрын
Drew, Are you able to route/remove the Delay (FX2) from the LR and send to the Reverb (FX1)? Like you’ve shown us in the past with the M32R? If yes, how would you do it? A video on virtual soundcheck setup with DM3-D and a video on using the new “Inserts” feature on V2 would be cool. I can see a lot of potential for Waves Superrack to be utilized to solve for the lack of Dugan Auto Mixer and using plug-ins live. Not sure about the latency though - might be too high. Yamaha got a lot of things right with this board but still missing a few key features here or there that could’ve made it a X32/M32 killer, IMO. I love mine tho.
@dgmixvlog7480Ай бұрын
i seem to be confused on the outputs. I believe there only total of 8 omni outs in the mixer. But in the output channel, looks like there are total of 9 faders (6 mix bus, 2 mtrx bus and 1 str main left right. so how do you figure which is which?
@benehem3 ай бұрын
so far, so good And if you give us a de-esser on DYN1 and Dugan for 16 Channels, it would be a great desk.

Dear Mr Drew. Is it possible to cascade 2 unit of the DM3 to have 32 channels (16 from unit #1 & another 16 from unit #2), plus, having 32 multitracks? If that is possible, how do u connect & set it up?

Behringer x32 rack vs Yamaha DM3 ?
@dcarmich003 ай бұрын
I own a DM3D and love it, but one issue is that you can't stereo link channels as you can on the TF Series. (Currently, I'm using the FX return channels for my two stereo synths in the studio, but when you link two mono channels as a group you can't CUE them as a group.)

It's a slick GUI, but I don't think a lot of people would pay twice as much as you would for an XR18 and an iPad. I suppose it's targeted at a different market. Dig the stash Drew, it suits you!
@DrewBrashler3 ай бұрын
Thanks man, the stash started as a joke to see how long it would take my kids to make fun of me. 😅 Yeah the pricing on the DM3 is higher than the X-Air, but for venue's needing Dante connectivity, it is a sweet deal. I see this being pretty popular for the corporate gig market with a lot of talking heads on stage.

You are comparing a digital console with a rack to use with an iPad. You don't know much about this topic, do you?
@Keksstar3 ай бұрын
@@DrewBrashler That´s exactly the reason I´ve bought one for... the small jobs for just a bunch of people talking - simple PA, some mics, some audio playback... for every larger jobs you will also bring an larger console. I will also use this console as an sub-console for broadcasting, where you have for example an already made mix and you have to add commentators. Perfect size for this. Sadly the console is missing an Dugan where all the corporate jobs would benefit from 😕

Easy, easy, easy. Sadly Yamaha does not have one of the DM3 series that starts at 16 channels plus the addition of 8 channels in 8 channels, 16, 24, 32 etc.
@SparkleDiamond-tu6od3 ай бұрын
Also because the Yamaha DM3 is quite pricey with fewer channels , others at the same price might be more channels to offer. Unless its for a pub or small event.
