The way I see it there’s two ways to learn these types of manoeuvres, step by step like in this video or from start to finish in one go. If you put aside your current skill at what you’re practicing and look at it week on week, you won’t feel as unmotivated when you’re not seeing instant results. I learned piroflips by learning the general stick movement and timing, and then failing at 60% sim speed for a week or two. At the end of the day the brain needs to form the subconscious connections. Now I’m at a point where I can do them badly at 100% speed. I didn’t use a piro trainer etc since I feel like they abstract away from the real manoeuvre and will hinder you in the long run, but it is useful for checking biases in the flip once you’ve got the core movement down. My point is that learning these things is more a matter of DAILY practice and letting the brain do it’s thing rather than the method of said practice, and as long as you’re practicing daily you will get there sooner or later. But I appreciate the breakdown and your way might work better for some people but no one is going to make any meaningful progress without daily practice regardless which method you use

I also wanna say thank you for making these types of videos. Because of them I can now do half pyros and pyros on the sim at least 😀 The thing that sets your videos apart is the slow and methodical showing of the points in fixed mode. That and watching the motion at like 0,25 speed made my brain "click" somehow 👌

thanks again for this video. I'm now able to hit the main targets while flying in the sim. This breakdown of the steps and knowing the targets was super helpful.

That's great to hear. I think there's no single way to learn these. It usually takes a few cracks at it using different ideas until it all comes together.

Richard I have NeXt simulator. It works ok but in terms of a guided trainer for specific maneuvers it is lacking. What sim would you suggest that will teach you eD maneuvers? What software are you using in your video here?

I don't think any of them do a particularly good job of guided trainer. RealFlight has some hovering exercises, but I've never managed to get beyond level 27. Heli-X has some hovering exercises as well, but probably not what you're after I imagine. This was Heli-X. You can try it out for free. I think it just limits the helis and fields, and there's a popup occasionally, but very usable.

Can you pretty please do a tutorial on how to do flipping funnels and flipping hurricanes. Would like to see what's going on when someone does it correctly.

What sort of flipping? The kind where you flip forwards/backwards from the direction of travel, or the one where you flip in/out while doing the circle?

@@rchelicopter I think the latter is what I was I was referencing. I really like the hurricane where they do elevator flips in the hurricane switching from blades in to skids in while keeping in a clockwise hurricane for example. The other one is the same premise but the flips are taking place while flying either an upright or inverted pie dish/funnel.
