The Good O' Recovery vehicle. I remember how I cheesed it so hard in COH1 by calling in 3 hummel and then destroy 2. Calling in another 2 more and recover the 2 destroyed hummel to get 5 working SPG. Good Times. This is looking very good, can't wait to play it.

I can’t help but be amused at the voice acting. Between the commander’s unenthusiastic pauses and the troop’s absolute *PANIC* at the most mundane situations has me chucking a fair bit. the lines sound great, if a bit out of place/oddly paced. The sound design also seems quite the improvement over past titles.

I avoided multiplayer coverage of the game, so most of this is new to me and it looks surprisingly good so far! I say "surprisingly" due to the previous '3rd' game in a series by Relic... Anyway! It's really nice to see the tank riding panzer grenadiers and their synergies with nearby tanks, I'm interested to see how other units synergize together. I also really like the wreckers (the recovery vehicles) - they seem like a great new addition and complexity to the battlefield. And my dad would love them since he restored a Ward La France and a Diamond-T 969 (American wreckers). Will be continuing to watch this series!

They had the recovery vehicle in first CoH so it’s not a new feature. However I do agree it’s nice to have it since it helps you to save your tank from totally lost.

I wonder why the collision system looks so bad. Like why do the tanks glitch inside each other? Is it so difficult to make hitboxes with hard body boundaries on vehicles? Apart from that, the game looks fun to play.

Trust me if the tanks collided on each other it would be very finicky, the game feels much better to play without collision

I don't think collision boxes are a problem, but pathfinding is. It's just much easier for the unit ai to not have to care about hitboxes.

I'm a bit surprised this has mixed reviews on Steam. Most complaints seems to suggest that the game is buggy as hell and not even close to being "finished". Looks cool though. I'll probably get it at some point in the future, after some patching, since I am a huge fan of the first two games.

it's a very fun formula for an RTS as you can easily read engagements, and the spotting mechanics keep stronger support units like MG's and mortars from being too strong, since they have to rely on recon to be truly effective

@@sesleri Early on the DAK had a lot of P2's but mid campaign most would be lost or not serviceable and the 15th and 21st Panzer Divisions would have to rely on P3's and IV's. Some P1's were also in use early on.

It does if you just want to play the campaigns and comp stomp; the game has no ranked/ladders, replay mode, observer mode or mod tools. Its main plus point is launching with four factions, but is in many ways a step back otherwise. 6/10 isn't unfair, maybe 7 if you're being generous - the 8/10 reviews are too generous.

@@SonesBen If the skirmish battles are just as good then I don't see it as a huge negative. The only negatives I've seen that the AI doesn't attack you on the world map apart from scripted moments. This is the "broken police AI and no metro in Cyberpunk, don't buy" affair all over again.

More a fan of men of war assault squad but the new one has been delayed. Companies of heroes 3 looks like a good alternative. There’s only a lot of repeating shouting and the scale of the units and buildings sometimes doesn’t seems right.

Thanks for the showcase, I was slightly curious to see what has changed since first gameplay reveals. Looks like unit pathing is still atrocious and fatal especially for AI that does not know how to angle its tanks. Animations are janky and generally worse than in CoH1. UI still takes a ton of screen space. Why are indirect-fire shells slower than a thrown potato? How does JU-87 with its two little machine guns obliterate a Crusader tank? Why are there random civilians waving in the middle of village completely unaffected by even artillery fire? This game still seems thoroughly mediocre, the only improvement I see so far is that infantry can ride on tanks.

The Steam review is mostly mix. Stating the game is barebone and felt early access. As you can see the gameplay with bad AI, graphics are outdated(can mistaken as CoH 2) and bad UI(look at that map oversight, took over 10% of the screen). I have bad feeling that this game will drop the price by next month and it will be a lot.

Have to say it.. This game looks and sounds way, way, way, waaaaaaaaaaaaay worse than second game did. Looks and sounds like toy tanks and soldiers running around.. Every eplosion sound is similar or same from granade, tank shell. Machine gun and ordinary gun sounds same. Can hardly ever heard eplosions, gun shots, tank driving around over soldier voices. Too damn loud soldiers. Effects look like for kids. Tank tracks disappear after few seconds. Overrall.. Hmm.. Second game is a bit older but by sound, look, effects would give it a solid 8. This game however.. 3 at best.. Maybe 4.. No more than 4 for sure.. Did thought about buying it but after seeing new gameplay video.. Hard pass.. Looks too stupid to play. Edit. Also.. I'v seen good games with price tag of 30, 40, 50 with pre-purchase and day before or on day release price goes up to 60-80. This game had a month ago price tag of 72 euros. Today it's released. Price with 31 euros. Over 50% has dropped. Shitty game for sure.

Absolutely horrific UI, and it takes most of the screen AND its not SCALABLE as it was in the previous COH2. I looks like something from a mobile game. Something unfinished. nope 4. Sound is mediocre at best. good enough It doesn't matter if this is just released. This game is charging £50 (£70 for digital prem) and is advertising itself as triple AAA. All criticism is valid criticism. It will likely still say the same six months from now. Live service games are a disaster and Company of Heroes being in the same boat as Dawn of War 3 puts absolutely no lessons learned inward. They expect full price? We expect full-high expectations. This game is worth £20 / £25 at this rate.
