Hey hey fellow KZbinrs! I'm at the Prime Inc Terminal in Springfield, MO at 100,000 miles. Going through the Express Bay to get my PM done. That includes an oil change, oil filter change, fuel filter change and a Chassis lube. I also had them replace my Engine Air Filter box.
Watch to see all the in's and out's, plus how to do each step.
How much did all that cost on my 2021 Peterbilt 579 Ultraloft? Don't worry, I E included that as well 😊

75k miles is definitely too long. And the amount of filters doesn’t matter because it’s not about the oil getting dirty but rather the additives in the oil burning off over time. Which reduces its lubricity and overtime will certainly cause wear on the internal parts. Anyone who thinks that Peterbuilt wants your truck to last a long time is kidding themselves, their goal is to make sure your truck lasts just long enough to get past the warranty period. Which a 75k mile oil change interval will do

I have to disagree with you. The oils that they use nowadays are not the same oil that they used back in the day. Check out the information on this oil, which is what they use. Chevron Del 400XLE isosyn advanced Ck-4/SN plus 10w-30 The oil is still perfectly fine even after 75000 miles. The bottleneck is with the filter itself. That's why they added the jumk separator in order to help the paper filter last longer. And if you think Peterbilt doesn't want their trucks to last more than 4 years, then how do they have a reputation for having such good trucks? They want to keep that reputation so it would make no sense for them to have a whole bunch of trucks failing on everybody after 4 or 5 years. They want the good reputation so that they can continue charging higher prices and have that loyalty from everybody. Loyalty stems from durability and reliability.

@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 3 жыл бұрын
Sure... Don't pay for it. driveforprime.com/?r=PAUJAJ It's 100% free. They'll pay for your transportation to the terminal, put you up in a hotel, pay for your food during orientation AND advance you money (interest free, taken out $25/ week after you start getting paid) to get you through the 2-4 week CDL course. The only thing you'll need money for is the cost of the permit (not expensive), the DOT Physical (not that expensive) and a background check fee that'll be given back to you once you pass the test. Very small up front, very large return! driveforprime.com/?r=PAUJAJ for more info. You can't go wrong.

Hey there JJ hows that Peterbilt and PACCAR treating you? I have 2 comments/suggestions. I didnt hear you mention what type oil your using, is it synthetic, and if it's not, why isn't it? All oil should be drained at operating temperature, and yes i know its hot, but thats the way to do it. When you pulled in, the first thing you should do is drop the plug, then pull the dipstick and filler cap, clean them, then set them aside, and drop the oil filters. Then move on and do everything else while your oil is dripping dry. After your through with everything else, install your drain plug, filters, oil, dipstick, fill cap, and your done.
@JJtheTrucker

What kind of oil did he put in? Was it synthetic? Also. have you ever considered an Amsoil oil bypass filter which filters down to 2 microns of particles?
@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 3 жыл бұрын

@@JJtheTrucker Unfortunately that’s a synthetic blend on not good for extended drain intervals. Might want to think about using Amsoil. More expensive but will last much longer especially with a bypass filter.

How is the crosswind against the truck? Does the wind blow it like it has no body stability?
@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on how much weight is in the trailer. The more the better. When you're light, you can get tossed about, and if the wind is too much, you can be blown over.
@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 2 жыл бұрын
I think it does have a little bit less roll in the wind than the Freightliner did however it's only a false sense of security anyway. It's always the trailer that ends up tipping and then taking the tractor with it.

What about pdf filter and computer reset by dealer only every year? 15,000$ every year?
@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 7 ай бұрын
The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) needs to be serviced and cleaned (not replaced) every 300,000 miles (more frequently if you idle all the time), not annually. And I don't remember how much it is, but nowhere near $15,000. Maybe $1,500? Ive had the truck for 3 years now, and never had a maintenance bill that high.

When you say service, what service are you referring to? If you're talking about oil changes, new trucks only need that service every 75,000 miles unless they're idled a lot. Since we have APUs, we don't idle. So, 75,000 it is. I personally cut it down to 50k.
