Nice job with the nearly clickbait title. Nothing approaching "full power" was used in the making of this video.
@VoraciousAvgeek8 жыл бұрын
GeekBoy832 at 2:50 the engine is clearly heard at full power. You are the only person out of 154 not acknowledging that full thrust was used in the process of this go around. No offense, I'm just trying to understand what makes you think this isn't full power.
@GeekBoyMN8 жыл бұрын
Perhaps it went up to near takeoff thrust, but that still is not full rated engine power.
@VoraciousAvgeek8 жыл бұрын
GeekBoy832 well, maybe the engine did not reach full power, but that was definitely very high thrust, which is why the title says full power. No click bait intended.

@20mseanb077 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking that myself. Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed that.
@hatchetman297 жыл бұрын
Yes, see the other comments. Think of a car's RPM gauge and the redline. Some cars will allow you to rev the engine past redline for a brief period, or before hitting the rev limiter. Think of the beginning of redline as 100%. The pilot in this case probably manually throttled up, then he hit his TOGA switch (Takeoff/Go Around) which makes the autothrottle advance all the way up to provide a kind of "emergency power" that is past the red line. As you can see, they don't stay at that power setting for very long. Even if they had continued the climb, the power would've come back to something below the red line.
@smoshjkl7 жыл бұрын
Full G/A thrust may be used for usually no more than 10 min. Really allows the 777 to punch through the decrease in lift during a GA situation due to flap retraction. Initial G/A power was not enough to safely maintain climb gradient during flap retraction hence the application of maximum available power. Those GE90s can get a heavy T7 out of a sticky situation very quickly. Immense power.
@hatchetman297 жыл бұрын

This is weird. It was approaching with spoilers fully extended and then accelerating at the same time (WTF), almost like they didn't realize they were extended. This approach didn't look good from the beginning. TOGA right on time though, good call from the pilot.
@schackbauer91246 жыл бұрын
On the SU-27 you deploy the airbrake all the time while you are approaching. Maybe he was a Flanker pilot in another generation.
@dismoptism55416 жыл бұрын
I thought the same, does seem odd to be accelerating against deployed spoilers. Maybe they were just too high too fast too close and things became a bit hectic, as it does on approach, and they made the right call to abandon an unstable approach and go around. Never flown a real 777, only C172's 😔, but in flight sims at least they are very slick planes that tend overshoot speeds during decent in a clean config. Perhaps its true to the real plane as well? Though these guys would have been well dragged with flaps, gear and spoilers out. Must have had lots of excess speed to bleed off?
@Vass223 жыл бұрын
