@GrantDWilliams82 I'm not making excuses for him. If you've never served in a law enforcement capacity, you can't understand the possible effects of things we see and deal with. That being said, First: I'm just sorry that none of his fellow officers had noticed a change in him, Secondly: he should have sought help on his own. Being at such a high tier position, he should have known the "adverse effects" that position can yield, but his "demons" could have been relational.

Many officers across this country need to go through mental evaluations on a periodically basis. As citizens we really dont know what alot of these men and women officers are going through physically that drives them to an end of harming themselves or others while off-duty. Chief's and Sheriff's need to check-in on their staff.

This dude is 10 steps above emt. Stop acting like police are morons. You are ignorant to what special response teams go deal with. So please stop acting like police are morons because the news lead you to believe that. Police are great people. And only bad people make it to the news. Cops only care about other cops. Ask deputy Burke with the hernando county sheriffs office. I called in to report a corrections deputy (Uziel Rivera) with the pasco county sheriffs office who tried to shove me off my bicycle after a verbal confrontation I had with his father regarding their belligerent kids randomly screaming at me as I rode past. Burke was on my side until he found out it was another deputy who committed the assault then his whole tone changed. The coward even dropped the case without even telling me.

@Nick-x2c2o looking back at situations from the pass that I survived to hate people or celebrate one of them being hurt is not going to prepare me to forgive or be forgiving I would be grateful everyday my imperfections didn't cause me to take my life or the life of others you took the personal experience from officers and was happy to hear that one of them was not forgiving or didn't forgive themselves and felt the need to call me a problem and traitor after your experience you survived and wanted to justify wanting harm for others after you survived you are none forgiving and merciless and hate others who want better outcomes I'm thankful you survived I just prayed for a better outcome and you created a sob story to hope I take your side

The deceased cop should be ashamed of himself for trying to kill two of his fellow officers. I don't think he should get the prestige burial. I'm starting to think that officers probably shouldn't go out to Suicide calls. If a person wants to kill him or herself and the officer shows up then the person can become more agitated and become homicidal.

He exuded a level of professionalism and humanity that is not often seen, but should be universally appreciated. Prayers and blessings to DPD and to the citizens of Detroit.
